Wizards Unite Hub continues to partner with Plotter101 to create detailed Adversaries guides. Up next is Sytherin’s Basilisk and its guards — a Formidable Serpent and a Fierce Acromantula. This Adversary has already been featured twice during Harry Potter: Wizards Unite events.
Slytherin’s Basilisk in Wizards Unite
Slytherin’s Basilisk is the 4th Adversary in the Challenges Registry of Feared Adversaries. Going down the list, each Adversary is more difficult. Thankfully, it is safe for players to take on the Basilisk in Wizards Unite with our eyes open!
On the Basilisk’s Registry page, players need to place 1 Adversary and 4 Artefacts to prestige the page. These are:
- Slytherin’s Basilisk
- Basilisk Skin
- Basilisk Eye
- Basilisk Egg
- Basilisk Fang
To earn the Basilisk Fragments and Artefact Fragments, you need to defeat the Guards and the Basilisk itself. These are:
- Formidable Serpent
- Fierce Acromantula
- Slytherin’s Basilisk
For each Guard you defeat, you earn 1 Artefact Fragment. When you defeat the Basilisk, you earn 1 Slytherin’s Basilisk Fragment and 1 Artefact Fragment.
Foe | Stamina | Possible Artefact Fragments |
---|---|---|
Formidable Serpent | 486 | 1 Basilisk Skin, OR 1 Basilisk Eye, OR 1 Basilisk Egg |
Fierce Acromantula | 1382 | 1 Basilisk Fang, OR 1 Basilisk Skin, OR 1 Basilisk Eye |
Slytherin’s Basilisk | 2411 | 1 Slytherin’s Basilisk Fragment PLUS 1 Artefact Fragment |
How to Defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk in Wizards Unite
To defeat any Adversary, players need a combination of Spell Energy, Potions, and time. How many of these resources you use will depend on your Profession, your Profession’s Lesson Plan, and your Profession’s Advanced Adversarial Combat. The more you complete in your skill trees, the less resources you will need to defeat Adversaries.
If you have completed more than one Profession’s Lesson Plan, you should play as a Magizoologist to defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk. That said, you will not know the type of Adversary until you enter the Adversary Encounter. Once you start the Adversary Encounter, there is not a way to change your Profession. Some players have successfully used a second device to change Profession, but this can cause a glitch that kicks you out of the Adversary Encounter, so do this at your own risk.
When Slytherin’s Basilisk is a boosted Adversary like during an event, you should play as an Magizoologist for the extra advantage. To reiterate, this advice is only true if you are equally strong in more than one Profession.
Damage Dealt by Slytherin’s Basilisk and Guards
When trying to defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk’s Adversary chain, you will lose health points (HP) whenever the Foe hits you (at times you might be lucky to Dodge!). The chart below outlines how much stamina you will lose, depending on your Profession.
Foe | Professor | Magizoologist | Auror >50% | Auror <50% |
---|---|---|---|---|
Formidable Serpent | 11 | 8 | 16 | 14 |
Fierce Acromantula | 25 | 12 | 38 | 34 |
Slytherin’s Basilisk | 39 | 29 | 61 | 54 |
Resources Needed to Defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk
Plotter101 put together the following chart to help players prioritize their resources when completing the Slytherin’s Basilisk’s Adversary chain.
Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about the Basilisk’s chain.
Aurors will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Serpent; 7 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Fierce Acromantula; 6 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 15 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk.
Magizoologists will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Serpent; 6 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Fierce Acromantula; 11 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 19 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk.
Professors will need to use 4 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Serpent; 11 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Fierce Acromantula; 14 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 22 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk.
These recommendations assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat. These recommendations also assume that you have completely strengthened your Potions through SOS Training. If you have not done both of these, you will use more resources.
Personally, as a Professor with 12/15 nodes completed, I do not use any Potions against the Guards. I can defeat the Basilisk with 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion, but I add a Wit-Sharpening Potion OR I use 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion when I need to save on Spell Energy. As with any Adversary, have Healing Potions available in case bad RNG causes them to attack multiple times in a row.
How to Defeat the Fierce Acromantula by Profession
Before we can battle Slytherin’s Basilisk, we need to deal with the Fierce Acromantula who appears as the 2nd Guard in the Basilisk’s Adversary Chain.
Plotter101 put together this chart to show the different combinations of resources (Spell Energy, Potions, and time) necessary to defeat the Fierce Acromantula.
Accessibility note: If you are using a screen-reader, the following text explains this chart about the Fierce Acromantula, who is the 2nd Guard in the Basilisk chain.

Final Thoughts on the Adversary
Like all Adversaries you encounter in Wizards Unite, you may not want to take on Slytherin’s Basilisk each time you have the opportunity. Especially if you’re a newer player, or a casual player, there is nothing wrong with only collecting Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards. Then you can back out from the Adversary Encounter to save on Potions and Spell Energy. You will have a better chance at defeating the Basilisk than the dragons we have had to deal with recently, however.
As with any Adversary, be prepared to use a Healing Potion if you fall below 40% on your HP meter. Remember that you can push the Potion button while Slytherin’s Basilisk is still dealing with your spell cast. That way you will not miss the opportunity to heal yourself in case it attacks several times in a row.
As already stated in every single Adversaries guide, prioritize finishing one Profession’s Lesson Plan. All Professions have strengths and weaknesses, so consider your overall game strategy as a player, beyond Adversaries alone.
What do you think about Slytherin’s Basilisk? Have you had much success defeating it already? What other advice would you offer players of different levels?

Adversaries are not that hard, but sure consume a lot of resources
