When I try to access the camera on my iPhone XR, Wizards opens the Settings app, but the camera isn’t an option. When I get out of Wizards and go to the Settings app and look at which programs have asked permission, Wizards is not on the list. How can I get this to work?
I found the fix. This site had the answer after looking and looking.

Not only did this NOT help me, but uninstalling and reinstalling the app, actually got rid of the “notifications” settings for Wizards Unite as well. Perfect. *sigh*
I am having a different issue with those. My decide lags to the point I can’t tap the boot. I see it, see the boot and can turn around, bit the lag is insane. I managed to get into the portal once, saw the glowing things but my tapping was not detected. Spent 10 minutes tapping on those with hopes to get at least one key done but no luck, had to cancel it. Now I have 8 keys pending to open and the event wants me to unlock a portkey… The settings don’t have anything related to camera except capture video thing. Which I disabled.
I sent a tweet to @NianticHelp and went through the in-app Help guides and no luck. I just posted on Reddit to see if I can get any help there as well.
How the heck is there nothing on this topic anywhere? We cannot be the only 3 people in the world with this problem…
I was having the same problem with my Xs Max. I had to delete the game, re-download it and go through the permissions process again. I then tried to place a Portkey and the game asked permission to access my camera.
Now I can see that WU has requested permission to my camera in Settings>privacy>camera as well as under settings>wizards unite.
Same problem here – it works fine on my son’s iPhone 6s and my wife’s iPhone 8, but not on the XR. The settings do NOT show the camera as a clickable option to allow for this. Must be a problem with Niantic?
