Wizards Unite Fortress

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has an exciting update coming very soon to help witches and wizards currently stranded at home.

You will soon be able to hitch a ride on the Knight Bus, which will take you to a Fortress. From there you’ll be able to complete Wizarding Challenges, all from the comfort and safety of your home.

This new feature should appear in the game sometime very soon. I will update this post as soon as I’m allowed to share more information. NDA and all that jazz.

Update April 20, 2020: Witches and wizards will SOON be able to take the Knight Bus to HOGWARTS! That’s right, this magical remote Fortress is conveniently located at the most beloved castle of our childhood dreams.

The Knight Bus will be available to players Level 7 and above.

Update April 27, 2020: The Knight Bus came out last week! It’s now available for all players Level 7 and above. We prioritized quick updates on Facebook and Twitter rather than updating this article every few hours.

As always, I’ve also covered all of this Wizards Unite news in a video! However, this video is a little different, and I highly encourage you to watch at least the first four minutes. You might notice a few familiar faces other than my own…

Wizards Unite Knight Bus FAQs

To answer a few anticipated frequently asked questions!

When will the Knight Bus be available?

The Knight Bus is now available to all players Levels 7 and up.

What will the Knight Bus cost?

The Knight Bus is waiving all fees for members of the SOS Task Force! It will take you to the Fortress at Hogwarts free of charge. Once at the Fortress, you will still need to use a Runestone to start a Wizarding Challenge. You will (probably) need to use Spell Energy to complete the Wizarding Challenge.

(I say “probably” because Professors can do Ruins I-V with a little patience and a maxed-out Deterioration Hex).

Is the Knight Bus a permanent feature of Wizards Unite?

Yes! The Knight Bus is here to stay. Even after the world returns to normal, and players are allowed to leave their homes safely, the Knight Bus will continue to be a feature in Wizards Unite. Rural and suburban players around the world will delight at this news. As a rural player myself, I’m absolutely thrilled!

Will we still get Fortress rewards?

Yes! For now, when you do a Wizarding Challenge at the remote Hogwarts Fortress, all rewards are the same as if you did a Wizarding Challenge at a local Fortress.

Can we do remote Wizarding Challenges with friends?

At the moment, there is not a mechanism within the Knight Bus feature to coordinate Wizarding Challenges with friends. If you and a roommate both take the Knight Bus in your game, and you choose the same Chamber, there’s a small possibility that you’ll end up in a Wizarding Challenge, but no guarantee. You’ll be placed randomly with other players around the world entering that Chamber at the same time.

There is also not a way to use friend codes to coordinate remote Wizarding Challenges.

However, it is possible that the HPWU developers will update the Knight Bus feature so that you and your friends can access remote Fortresses together.

Can I solo a remote Wizarding Challenge?

If you are really quick with the Start button, it’s possible you will be able to solo a Wizarding Challenge. However, without knowing how popular the Hogwarts Fortress will be, it’s hard to know if solo Wizarding Challenges will be possible. There’s definitely a chance that other players will immediately join your Chamber before you can hit the Start button.

Can the Knight Bus take us to Inns or Greenhouses?

At the moment, the Knight Bus is direct transit to a Fortress at Hogwarts. You will not convince the Knight Bus driver to take a detour to an Inn or a Greenhouse. However, if you put in a polite request to HQ, the powers that be might add additional functionality routes to the Knight Bus.

It would be much easier if they just gave us the option, when we use “tonic for trace detection”, to just enter a fortress. So you activate the Tonic, and options pop-up to either use it like normal with increased traces or as a summoned fortress. That would take very little extra coding.

I’m super excited about this! Challenges were my favorite part of the game and I haven’t gotten to do one in 5 weeks because of the lockdown. I maxed out professor in March and I’m itching to use it on something!

So, I assume like remote raidpasses in Pokemon, we’ll have to buy Knightbustickets to use this feature… Not a huge fan of the idea, but better than nothing I guess.

I wrote about that Idea in September 2019. But I wanted it to be a button called “apparate away”, which would take you to a fortress once a day for free (another apparations would cost money).

Aparating is the most beloved HP skill around HP fanbase, more beloved than spell casting, yet they keep not using it.

Also, using a bus in a pandemic days isnt a good Idea.

Is it possible to add a report user button, or block from playing with people? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve waited minutes for the 1 person out of 5 to hit join and then they don’t fight in the battle at all. There needs to be something to do about these players, especially in higher levels. Maybe it’s just me, but adding the difficulty of another player who refuses to play isn’t fun. Perhaps if everyone clicks a button then that person has a timer to join again? There needs to be a penalty for intentionally inactive… Read more »

So, finally, the bus has arrived! First things first: Yes, it’s free! You have to use a runestone, though. And yes, Professors can solo ruins levels without using spell energy. And no – the fortress isn’t crowded at all. So doing a solo does not depend on your dexterity. I had to wait quite often for others to join. And was too often left alone, so i quit. But what was most annoying was when i started a challenge at dark II with 3 others, came back to the battlefield after finishing a elite dangerous foe and found me left… Read more »

I forgot to say thank you to niantic and warner for this feature. Finally i was able to finisch the SOS Assignments. In my vicinity there is only one other player (albeit more than a hundred active PoGo players!). So i never before did a a challenge with more than two in a party!

The feature is great, but there are issues like the one you’re talking about. This happens to me often. I also have players join and do NOTHING and still get the rewards. I’ve failed high tier levels because of quitting or outright inactivity. I love the feature, but I hate the way some players are abusing the system.

This is a great new feature but it really highlights how terrible some people are. If you aren’t going to participate in the battles, DON’T JOIN!!! If you don’t have enough spell energy to battle, DON’T JOIN!!! You make the chamber more difficult when you join and don’t participate. I can beat a tower chamber IV by myself with no potions. Usually there about 7 enemies in there. I just did a tower chamber II with 5 people. 2 of the people didn’t participate AT ALL. I fought 8 out of 20 enemies and we ended up failing as a… Read more »
