One Year Later: Brilliant Event

The Harry Potter: Wizards Unite team is kicking off the month of June with a bang! The implications of our actions of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force have finally caught up with us, and the Foundables we will encounter (as you will see) will be all too familiar.

The excitement is real on this one! We have waited with bated breath for more story details and direction in regards to what really is going on with the Calamity and this month’s events will (hopefully) help the story take off in a way we have not seen since the game’s launch.

Due to the lasting pandemic and worldwide health concerns, this event will be completely playable from home.

You can also discover all the Brilliant Event details in my video below!

Brilliant Event Tasks

These tasks came from the HP:WU team during the throes of a staffing change. We are grateful to be able to create this guide for you all, but ask for grace in the event the details change before or during the event itself!

As mentioned in the chart above, Spell Energy will be among the rewards for completing tasks! This should help players who aren’t seeing much Spell Energy on the Map.

One Year Later Quest 1/4

I prefer to brew potions in advance of the event (the night before) then collect them when the required step shows up. Due to the boosted Ministry of Magic spawns, you should have no trouble breezing through the first step!

Brew 1 Tonic for Trace Detection 2 Leaping Toadstool
Return 5 Ministry of Magic Foundables 1 Powdered Dragon Claw
Return 7 Brilliant Proprietor Ron Weasley Foundables 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 1 Dark Detector
  • 10 Spell Energy

Step 2 should be just as easy as the first! Drink down the Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, get some sweet XP, collect the rewards, and move on!

Return 5 High Threat Traces 1 Unicorn Hair

Use 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir 1 Silver Key

  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 1 Brilliant Activated Dark Detector Registry Image
  • 10 Spell Energy

One Year Later Quest 3/4

Again, straightforward tasks. Fortunately, Portkeys are still unlocking at 1.5km and should not take too long to open in order to advance to the next step! In order to prepare for this step, I recommend renting the Gold Cauldron (I know, I know..) and brewing the 4 simplest potions you can. I am a fan of the Exstimulo Potion, personally!

Unlock 1 Brilliant Portmanteau 1 Strong Invigoration Draught
Brew Any 4 Potions 6 Snowdrop Potion Ingredients
Return 10 Brilliant Auror Harry Potter 1 Silver Key

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 1250 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Restricted Section Books

Win 10 Wizarding Challenges 1 Spell Book

4th Quest Rewards

  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Gold
  • 1 Brilliant Crate of Potions Registry Image
  • 10 Spell Energy

One Year Later Week 1 BONUS Assignment!

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for completing event tasks, doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones, and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

Brilliant Where to find it Fragments to collect

Brilliant Proprietor Ron Weasley

Wild Encounter 15
Brilliant Auror Harry Potter Wild Encounter 15
Brilliant Activated Dark Detector Event Tasks 1
Brilliant Crate of Potions Event Tasks 1
Brilliant Opened Portkey Portmanteaus Brilliant Portkey Portmanteaus 5
Brilliant Ministry of Magic Landmark Flag Wizarding Challenges with a Brilliant Runestone 3

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!

  • As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to collect 5 Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
  • To find the Brilliant Ministry of Magic Landmark Flag, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. To minimize your Spell Energy, stick with the Ruins Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Foundables you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources.
  • You may also use those Brilliant Runestones in chambers with teammates (random players you encounter) in order to complete the 4th task of the event! Two birds, one stone!
  • If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can either hold on to your resources in case they’re needed for the next lesson plan, or you can start working on a second profession. That is a personal decision, and I don’t have any advanced knowledge on what the next lesson plan will look like.

Brilliant Event Bundles

There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind. Orange Wizard provided the infographic below explaining all of the bundles.

You can also find a link here to a discussion for a Bundle Value Calculator that community genius Andolov (along with several other community members) has put together to determine the overall value of bundles in the game. By attributing monetary value to just about everything in the game, he has been able to calculate whether or not we get a good deal!

Are you excited for this Brilliant Event? What do you think of the tasks, rewards, bundles, and more?

I’m always interested to hear your thoughts! Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms.

If you hold off doing your daily tasks until the event starts, you can get those done at the same time!

If you brew a Tonic of Trace Detection and have it ready to go for the 1st event for 11 AM Pacific will go nicer.

Interested to know more about this “staffing change” – especially given the use of the word “throes” there. I really hope “staffing change” isn’t a euphemism for layoffs or anything like that. If I were to guess, I’d say HPWU isn’t as profitable as PoGo, despite being (arguably) better at communicating with players, implementing much asked-for QoL changes, timely patches for bugs/glitches and just general transparency, etc. (There’s more, but I’ll stop there lawl.) PoGo has had more time and a continual influx of crazy amounts of user money – and they’re monetizing parts of the game more and more… Read more »

In the bonus assignment, I have already completed Dark Chamber 5 in a previous event – so can I do that task?

I’m not too excited abt the bonus challenge where we have to fight the highest unlocked. We just got asked last Community Day to knock out Dark 5 but we had the community to help. Who knows if anyone will be around all week to help? Don’t know that I can do it alone…

I’m hoping that enough people also completed Dark 5 on community day and will be there looking to complete this task. It just might take some time. I’m with you, no way I can do it alone.

Well, turns out you don’t have to successfully finish the chamber, as long as it completes. There was only one other player with me and we did not win, but we sure tried! I’m glad it counted for the task!
