Wizards, we are getting the same type of questions over and over again: will HPWU feature wands? Will Wizards Unite have beasts? How will WU houses work? How will WU <insert your favourite magical element> work?
Well, in order to answer those questions (and to put a stop on the rampant Youtube clickbait), here are the only Wizards Unite features that were confirmed by Pottermore, the source closest to J.K. Rowling and the official channel towards the wider Harry Potter fan base (link to the original article):
- magical creatures
- spell casting
- mysterious artefacts
- iconic wizarding world characters
- personalized character progression (RPG elements like levels, experience, etc.)
- AR exploration elements
The source article states the following:
“The game encourages you to step outside with your phone, explore your local surroundings and take part in a series of adventures, such as searching for magical creatures and bumping into iconic wizarding world characters along the way. Crikey. Who knows who you’ll spot in your local park? You’ll also be able to cast spells, discover mysterious artefacts, and build up your very own, illustrious wizarding career.
Nothing else was confirmed or hinted by anyone officially connected to Niantic, Portkey Games, Warner Bros and Pottermore. This includes: potion brewing, house allegiance, wizarding schools and everything else from J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.
Wizards, be vary of misinformation in the months to come and be sure to always check your sources. Pokémon GO’s release was plagued by clickbait, fake news, mainstream media trying to funnel clicks and attention by manipulating the player base.
Let’s not make the Wizards Unite release anything like that.
