Brilliant Event Tasks

The tasks for Brilliant Events seem to be on a fairly regular rotation. The main tip I would like to give is to WAIT TO PLACE ANY IMAGES until you reach the Bonus Task.

Darkness Rising Quest 1/4

Start 2 Tonic for Trace Detection Potions the eve of the event, and you’ll easily be breezing through this first step. These are becoming pretty formulaic quest steps, so brewing ahead should be a pretty normal practice at this point.

Collect Ingredients or Portmanteaus 2 Times 2 Erumpent Horn
Brew 2 Tonic for Trace Detection 1 Powdered Dragon Claw
Return 10 Brilliant Poacher Foundables 2 Invigoration Draughts

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 10 Spell Energy

Darkness Rising Quest 2/4

These are pretty straightforward tasks, too! Make it easier on yourself by waiting to visit the Registry page until this step and you should be able to rack up on Family XP just by playing the event. Using Baruffio’s Brain Elixir should be second nature now, too. So get out there (or stay quarantined…) and play!

Earn 7500 Wizarding XP from Traces 1 Silver Key
Earn 350 Brilliant Darkness Rising Family XP 4 Snowdrop
Use 2 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Potions 2 Dark Detector

Darkness Rising Quest 3/4

Easy as pie! Hop onboard the Knight Bus after fighting some Snatchers and find some friends. Better yet, make some new ones in a Facebook group or Discord group! You can pre-brew all 7 Potions by using a rental Cauldron, or just pre-brew 4 Potions and then do 3 more quick ones, like Exstimulo Potions or Healing Potions.

Return 15 Brilliant Snatcher Foundables 2 Leaping Toadstools
Brew Any 7 Potions 4 Ginger Root
Use 5 Potions in Wizarding Challenges 1 Hermit Crab Shell

3rd Quest Rewards

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!

  • As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to collect 5 Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
  • However, if you’re nervous about finding enough time to walk, you can also collect the Portkey Brilliant Foundable by finishing the entire Bonus Assignment.
  • To find the Brilliant Bell Poison Candle, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. To minimize your Spell Energy, stick with the Ruins Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Foundables you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources.
  • If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can hold on to your resources in case they’re needed for the next lesson plan, you can start working on a second profession, or you can invest in SOS Training. That is a personal decision, so good luck!

There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind.

I still can’t stack foundables. It always shows the max number, and resets to 0 after placement. 🙁 And, yes, my app is up to date. On a Samsung Galaxy S8.

I still overall enjoy playing the game, but gave up with the massive amount of Family XP for the last event.

The event last weekend wasn’t bad for family XP, as it took a normal type and that’s not too bad to get with placing images. Totally agree about last brilliant event, and this one is worse in that regard. The rest of the tasks aren’t too bad (15 snatchers will probably be annoying), but the brilliant family XP ones are definite fun killers. As to stacking foundables- I don’t know if that has ever worked for me. It works exactly as you describe. The only time I had more than a full count was after the changeover, when several of… Read more »

I’m trying not to be so negative… I really like that these foundables are oddity types! But it’s frustrating that it’s taking me 3-6 spells to return each one. Is it just me? Does that have to do with your profession? Can more of the General Spell Mastery skills help?

What profession? I’m playing maxed professor and if I’m lucky (2 crits) I can return a Poacher with only 3 energy, but that usually doesn’t happen. If no crits a Snatcher takes 8.

Oddity was my first maxed family XP, so I’m with you on normally liking them, but these event ones are just a terrible energy draining grind.

I’m a maxed Magi. My friend is a maxed Auror and he did not have to use quite as many spells.

Luckily for me, I went on vacation and my motel room was next to an inn, so I finished fairly easily. But I’m not looking forward to Part 2 if there’s going to be another task like that.

I’ve found the crit chance is way lower than in the wizarding challenges, as an Auror maxed out I should have high crit chance on first cast when they are at full health but more often than not I am not critting until they are below 50%

The developers really need to find the balance between effort and reward.
3 fam xp and 50 xp for a 700 oddity is very demotivating. Compare this to eg. a vampire.
It’s like they are looking for ways to put off players to participate in events. Certainly when you must gather 350 fam xp this way.

Oh, quite simple. It’s virtually impossible. For me as a higher level player, in a more rural area getting the 350 fam xp is already quite a challenging task. I know some newer players (around level 20 or so) and they’ve just given up. And the tonic for trace detection gives like five or six brilliant foundables, so getting the fam xp from there is no solution either. And when trying to get the poison candle from a wizarding challenge, I do not get one 75% of the tries.(Tried tower chamber 1 and up) For me, I guess this may… Read more »

I wonder if this one is going to be fun for newer players considering the energy sink for these foundables in the wild. If I wasn’t a maxed in my profession and sitting at 385 spell energy full it would be 4-5 energy per encounter in a place where energy is kinda hard to come by.

This article SEVERELY downplays the difficulty of the tasks related to getting Brilliant XP or Brilliant Traces given that the Poacher is an Oddity with 500 stamina and the Snatcher is also an Oddity with 700 stamina – the most of anything I’ve ever encountered in the wild. Newer players or people in rural areas will have major difficulty completing this event without investing a lot of gold buying spell energy.

So I am curious how newer players feel about this event due to energy requirements for returning the poacher and snatcher. The energy requirements to complete the family XP in part 2 might be quite high, 600 for older players and1200 for newer players (see assumptions later). I can’t image what this event would be like with a low energy cap as a snatcher might take 14 or more energy (unless they scale HP). As a long time player I can’t image how much of a grind this event would be for new players. Assume 100 damage per hit an… Read more »

I think I will be trying to finish the bonuses anymore. The events are a grind. I know you say to not place anything till the bonus but task two takes too much family xp. Even with placing everything, several tonics, some port keys done and using all the event rune stones, I still don’t have enough family xp.

I don’t think this event is doable from home and people will have to go out for energy and items.

I feel sorry for those who are just starting out.

Unfortunately, the advice to wait to visit the registry page until Quest 2 didn’t work. I didn’t receive any family XP credit for doing so.

Normally I like the event foundables as another way to supplement XP gain, etc, but this event is absolutely horrible in that regard. 500 and 700 HP but only reward 3 family XP and 50 regular XP? That’s absolutely terrible, and a huge energy drain. Getting the 350 family XP for step 2 is a long energy burning grind unless you can manage to unlock several event portkeys. 3XP per foundable, 10 for challenges WHEN they give a fragment (otherwise 0). Gave in and placed an image, but that only gives 5 family XP. Portkeys sometimes don’t give much (or… Read more »

Ok, on a positive note I found a new favorite thing about this event’s quests. After quest 3, if you’ve waited to place images (and got poacher and snatcher both to max, which you should have) you don’t have to return any more event foundables, at all. The 7500 Wizarding XP will take me a little bit to grind through, but I have a ton of runestones and lots of pages needing challenge images to prestige. The bonus tasks are all ones I can complete fairly easily with mostly normal gameplay and not much extra effort (one challenge in the… Read more »

While all brilliant events make me wonder if they are worth while, as I try to find a way to get through the event while returning as little brilliant event foundables as possible. This event more then ever has made me think of this article https://wizardsunitehub.info/fun/opinion-the-calamity-must-die/
When I first read it I agreed in general, now I am all on board.

There is a way to send a clear signal. If you are a person who often buy gold for spending in Diagon alley, just stop buying gold when you notice that people comment as they are doing above. I think that a company that is located in a marvelous city like San Francisco might forget how it is to live in an area where there practically are rare with tops where you can fill up with energy. And this is most important when you remember the guide lines regarding nominate a portal/pokestop. It should be somewhere where people gather. Take… Read more »

Another annoying thing I found during the event for the bonus stage, I had 9 portkeys walked and ready to open and none of them counted towards the 5 needed for the bonus stage, it looks like it trips the counter only when you actually pop the unlock which is a pain for some of us who don’t have the time to walk around all day because we are at work. It would have been nice to be able to unlock these during in advance and sit on opening them until we needed to like sitting on placing foundables on… Read more »
