Preparing for Community Day
Stock up on Spell Energy before Community Day starts in your region. While you can find Spell Energy on the Map, you don’t want to worry about running out. Buckbeak and Hagrid will be more common, but they will still most likely require a great deal of Spell Energy to overcome the Confoundable magic.
When doing Wizarding Challenges prior to Community Day, use your Care of Magical Creatures Runestones. This will help you progress your Hagrid Hut Registry page prior to Community Day starting. Then you can prestige your Hagrid Hut Registry page more quickly on Community Day!
Save your 10km and 5km Portkey Portmanteaus. These will take only 5km and 2.5km to walk. As long as you start the Key during Community Day, you will get the reduced distance for that Portkey Portmanteau.
Also save your Extravagant Gifts from friends! They give out 500 Wizarding XP apiece, so with a Brain Elixir during Community Day, you’ll gain 1500 Wizarding XP per Extravagant Gift.
Spend the next week brewing Potions that will help you return difficult Foundables.
Note: My recommendations for Potions assume your Vault can only hold 50 Potions. If you’ve expanded your Vault, then stock up on more Potions!
First, build up a solid supply of all the Exstimulo Potions. These Potions make it easier to overcome the Confoundable magic. This is quite necessary with Severe-Level Foundables like Buckbeak, and Emergency-Level Foundables like Hagrid.

For December’s Community Day, most players are better off focusing on Strong Exstimulo Potions because they have shorter brewing times and common Ingredients.
Regular Exstimulo Potions take less Ingredients with an even shorter brewing time, but they’re better spent on uncommon Foundables like the Monster Book of Monsters, not rare Foundables like Buckbeak.
While the Potent Exstimulo Potions are highly effective, they require rare Unicorn Hair, a large amount of common Ingredients, and 6.8 hours (with Master Notes) brewing time.
Aim to have 25-30 Exstimulo Potions (total from all types) brewed before Community Day. These will help you return multiple Buckbeaks and Hagrids during the 3-hour window.
The Exstimulo Potion family needs a lot of Ingredients. This quick chart shows which ones you need:

In addition to the Exstimulo Potions, brew at least a few Dawdle Draughts. Buckbeak and Hagrid might be hard to return, so you want to do your best to keep them from departing. Brew 5-10 Dawdle Draughts to help you get all the Buckbeak fragments you need to prestige the first page of Hagrid’s Hut.

You should also stock up on Baruffio’s Brain Elixir. If you want to use one during all of Community Day to take advantage of the 3x Wizarding XP, you’ll need a total of 6 Brain Elixirs. Personally, I try to time these so they start brewing shortly before I go to bed, just long enough to add the Master Notes.
These are all the ingredients you need for Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.

Finally, you should stock up on Tonic for Trace Detection Potions. If you want to use one during all of Community Day to take advantage of the boosted Traces, you’ll need a total of 6 Tonics.

Tips for Enjoying December’s Community Day
- Play with a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and a Tonic for Trace Detection Potion during the entire event to maximize your XP and your rare Traces.
- Find other players in your area! Check out our previous article on finding a group for Community Day.
- If you have access to a sponsored mall, play there. Simon Malls have tons of Inns and Fortresses.
- Use Dark Detectors on Inns. These will help attract a higher quantity of Foundables.
- Carry an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!
- If you’re playing outside, apply sunscreen beforehand. Carry a water bottle, and stay hydrated! Even if the temperatures are cooler, you still need sun protection.
- Use Care of Magical Runestones in Fortresses to get even more Foundable Fragments for your Registry!

Are you excited for Community Day? Where do you plan to play? Any additional tips you’d like to add?
“Also save your Extravagant Gifts from friends! They give out 500 Wizarding XP apiece, so with a Brain Elixir during Community Day, you’ll gain 1500 Wizarding XP per Extravagant Gift.”
Brain Elixir does not apply effect on gift.
They do. The animation says just 500 but of you’ll check your wxp before and after you will see 1000xp more.
I’m looking forward to this, especially because there’s practically no community aspect there despite the name, so I will be able to fully enjoy the event as a solo player… 😉
