Preparing for Community Day

As mentioned before, April’s Community Day is completely different than anything we’ve seen before. It will last all day, and you can do everything from home. So preparing for Community Day is understandably a little different!

Wizarding Challenges

If you are still able to do Wizarding Challenges safely, then use Magizoology Runestones to collect Murtlap Registry images. However, you’ll want to do some math beforehand to do this efficiently.

If you look at the screenshot at the top of the page, you can see that I need 11 Murtlaps to prestige. However, for the event rewards, you can only collect fragments in multiples of 5. That means 1 Murtlap Registry image will end up wasted when I collect my rewards.

If I can get just 1 more Murtlap before Community Day, then I’ll only need 10 Murtlaps to prestige. I can accomplish that by collecting 2 sets of rewards on Community Day. Then none of my rewards are wasted.

If you can’t do Wizarding Challenges right now, that’s okay! Focus on unlocking Portkeys.

Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. These will contain additional Murtlap fragments, so you want to collect as many as you need!

I know that walking around your home isn’t very exciting, but it can help you get distance. Try keeping your phone in your pocket all day and see how much distance you rack up just going about your daily routine. If it’s not much, consider doing “laps” in the largest room in your house, or down the hallway.

On Community Day, depending on how many Murtlap fragments you need, you might want to open some of your Community Day Portkeys before collecting your Community Day rewards. Again, the goal is to need 5, 10, or 15+ Murtlap fragments when you collect your rewards. That way, none of them are wasted.

The most important Potion to brew before Community Day is Tonic for Trace Detection. If Ingredients are scarce where you live, consider spending the money to buy Potions. Tonic for Trace Detection is actually a good deal in Diagon Alley because the Ingredients are so expensive.

These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection Potion.

Baneberry Bulbadox Juice Angel’s Trumpet Erumpent Horn

While these Ingredients are currently boosted, and the brewing time for Tonic for Trace Detection is greatly reduced with Master Notes, I’m aware that many players don’t have any Ingredients at home.

If you can safely stop somewhere with a lot of Wizards Unite activity, do so on the way to the grocery store on your next trip.

Again, if there’s no way for you to collect Ingredients, I highly recommend buying Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley.

The other Potion you should brew is Dawdle Draught. Pickett is a Severe-Threat Foundable, so you might want to have a handful of Dawdle Draughts available. I still need 6 of him to prestige my page, so I plan on having 6 Dawdle Draughts ready. Yes, the Potion does carry over to the next Foundable if you don’t need all 3 uses, but this increases my likelihood of having enough Potions in case Pickett resists a lot.

These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.

Valerian Root Sopophorous Bean Butterscotch Hermit Crab Shell

Finally, try to stock up on Strong and Potent Exstimulo Potions. These will again help with returning Pickett.

This quick chart shows which Ingredients you need for the entire Exstimulo family.

Shared between all Exstimulo Potions Bitter Root
Re’em blood
Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient Granian Hair
Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient Abraxan Hair

Tips for Enjoying April’s Community Day

This Wizards Unite Community Day is completely playable at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play with other people! Stay tuned for more details regarding a group livestream with some of your favorite WUtubers. You can also set up your own video call to talk to friends playing Wizards Unite.

If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, set aside a few hours to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. Carry an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!

Need to make the day extra-magical at home? Dress up in your favorite wizarding apparel, which is always the best way to play Wizards Unite anyway. I’m a pretty paranoid person when it comes to my data; I’ve turned off location history, web & app activity, ads personalization – the works. But I will say I did read the updated privacy policy concerning Adventure Sync and while I’m sure there’s some loophole in there allowing Niantic to collect and sell my information to third-parties – despite the privacy policy specifically saying they don’t do that – I decided it was worth turning it on just to see if it really makes that much of a difference for Portkeys (with which I’ve consistently had a hard time… Read more »

Is there some way to “encourage” ground spawns? Getting two spell energy spawns when I’m stuck in my suburban house will be very, very difficult.

Is there some reason all the Magizoology foundables currently claim to be High difficulty when one first taps on them? They’re not acting like High when I actually case spells at them, nor when I get the points for them.
