September was a busy month for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The first-ever Fan Festival, Day of the Dragons, AND Community Day, all in one month! Unfortunately, we didn’t get a Brilliant Event last month.
Luckily, October is bringing another two-week Brilliant Event, this time called Fighting Forces.
Fighting Forces: Week One will be October 8th to October 14th.
Fighting Forces: Week Two will be October 22nd to October 29th.
This Brilliant Event guide will focus on the second week of Fighting Forces. For all the details of the first week, read my previous guide.
Guide to Week 2 of Fighting Forces Brilliant Event!
This guide will cover all the quests you need to do to complete the second week of Fighting Forces Brilliant Event. Plus I’ve shared some advice to help you finish the event on time, or even early if you apply yourself!
If you’d rather watch a video, check out my latest on Witches Unite.

Brilliant Event Tasks
These tasks all come straight from Fazes, so they’re completely accurate!
Like the previous Brilliant Events, the quest line is split into four sections. You have to complete each section before progressing to the next one. Unlike previous Brilliant Events, this one includes a BONUS assignment!
The 3k Portkey Portmanteaus will go to Borgin and Burkes.
Fighting Forces Quest 1/4
These tasks are fairly easy, but brewing Potions might take time. If you’re not in urgent need of Potions before the event begins, stock up all 4 Potions in your Cauldron. That allows you to collect 4 Potions immediately when the Brilliant Event begins. Then just brew 2 Healing Potions or regular Exstimulo Potions!
| Dine 2x at Inns | 2 Restricted Section Books |
| Brew 6 Potions | 150 Wizarding XP |
| Defeat 3 Oddities | 10 Brilliant Family XP |
1st Quest Rewards
- 500 Wizarding XP
- 2 Restricted Section Books
- 1 Spell Book
- 5 Re’em Blood Ingredients
- 3 Loveage Ingredients
Fighting Forces Quest 2/4
These are fairly easy tasks that shouldn’t take too long to complete.
| Collect 3 Brilliant Sirius Black Fragments | 300 Wizarding XP |
| Use 5 Exstimulo Potions | 200 Wizarding XP |
| Obtain 2 Portkeys by unlocking Portmanteaus | 15 Brilliant Family XP |
2nd Quest Rewards
- 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions
- 25 Legends of Hogwarts Family XP
- 3 Restricted Section Books
- 1 Spell Book
- 1 Death Eater Portrait Lens Variant 2
- 1 Brilliant Kreacher with Locket
Fighting Forces Quest 3/4
The potential challenge here is having 2 Tonic for Trace Detection Potions in your Vault to use. The free store pack helps a little with Ingredients, but you might still need to buy a Tonic for Trace Detection Potion.
| Use 2 Tonic for Trace Detection | 500 Wizarding XP |
| Defeat 6 Oddities Traces | 500 Wizarding XP |
| Defeat 9 Foes in Wizarding Challenges | 15 Brilliant Family XP |
3rd Quest Rewards
- 25 Brilliant Family XP
- 3 Restricted Section Books
- 1 Spell Book
- 1 Silver Key
- 1 Tom Riddle’s Tomb Portrait Sticker
- 1 Brilliant Troll Leg Umbrella Stand
Fighting Forces Quest 4/4
After 3 easy sets of quests, the 4th set is a doozy. Hopefully at this point, you can consistently cast Great Spells. Using 5 Potent Exstimulo Potions isn’t difficult, but if you’re stingy with them like I am, it might hurt to use them on Foundables that aren’t extremely rare. Finally, unlocking 4 Portmanteaus is a LOT. Either save a bunch of 2k Portmanteaus to walk quickly, or carefully time your walking of others so that you’re close to unlocking them when you start the 4th set of tasks.
| Cast 15 Great Spells | 750 Wizarding XP |
| Use 5 Potent Exstimulo Potions | 15 Brilliant Family XP |
| Obtain 4 Portkeys by unlocking Portmanteaus | 15 Brilliant Family XP |
4th Quest Rewards
- 1 Dementor Animated Portrait Sticker
- 50 Gold Coins
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 1 Spell Book
- 1 Brilliant Phoenix

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event
If this is your first Brilliant Event, or if you’re thrown off by the different tasks, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event with time to spare. And then you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!
- If you don’t currently have a supply of Tonic for Trace Detection Potions, go ahead and brew two. If you’re missing the Ingredients, either unlock a bunch of Portkey Portmanteaus ASAP to try to find Erumpent Horns, or go ahead and buy a Potion. It’s more cost-efficient to buy a Potion than it is to buy the Ingredients. Remember that the free store pack will give you 2 Erumpent Horns, the rare Ingredients needed to brew 1 Potion. Save enough Baneberry, Bulbadox Juice, and Angel’s Trumpet to brew 1 Potion.
- Hold onto your 2km Portkey Portmanteaus to unlock during the event. This will help you use less Silver Keys.
- If you’ve having trouble finding Oddities, avoid flagged areas. Also play in the evening, when certain Oddities are more common.
- If you need to complete the event quickly, or you only have a short time to work on it, visit a sponsored Simon Mall if at all possible. Inns, Fortresses, and spawns are all plentiful.
- Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! Aurors and Magizoologists are getting close to earning all of the Restricted Section Books needed to fill out their skill tree.
- When working on the Bonus Assignment, prioritize the Death Eaters. 1 Spell Book is more valuable than flair for your Ministry ID.

If 4/4 is worded exactly “Obtain 4 Portkeys by unlocking Portmanteaus” (vs say “by opening portmanteaus), unlocking them throughout the week and opening all at once won’t work because technically you’ve already unlocked them. You can prewalk portkeys but they can’t have reached their final km before you reach step 4/4. This burned me on one of the previous events.
Yes, that would stink if you had to start over trying to unlock 4 Portmanteaus.
I see it differently though: You do not obtain a portkey by walking the last km. You obtain the portkey by opening (unlocking) a Portmanteau.
We’ll have a chance to figure it out before 4/4. Step 2/4 uses the same wording for the 2 Portmanteaus to be unlocked.
I agree that you can only get a new portkey once you open an old one. The problem is the game doesn’t equate opening and unlocking. WU considers the portkey “unlocked” once it has been walked the required amount, but you can open it whenever you choose. The last time they had this task in an event, I prewalked all my portkeys but none of them counted because they had already been “unlocked” even though I hadn’t opened them. Hoping they change it, but given the wording and past experience I’d be careful about prewalking them.
I just moved into 2/4 and I can verify that an unlocked but still unopened Portkey does NOT count! I’m about to open quite a few saved ones now…Drat!
Squeeee I just saw this! I missed it before ,now I am excited!!! So happy I searched a bit longer before sleep. You guys are the best! Brilliant! Thanks everso ! I have small amounts of time that must be squeezed into my everyday life patterns so I can take part in the event…I hope to make level 33 by the end of Halloween. ; )
I wonder what “early” means, and whether the answer should make me waste silver keys on 2/3 km Pteus in the 4th quest set…
Thanks so much for these suggestions, quickly knocked out quests 1-3, and should be able to finish quest 4 in my early walk tomorrow morning.
I am stuck at 2/4. No matter how many times I use the potion, I am still at 3 of 5. So sad.
Hi Cathy,
Note that only the base (cheapest, duration: 3 spell casts) “Exstimulo Potion” counts for the Brilliant event goal “Use Exstimulo Potion 5 Times”; make sure you are using that.
Otherwise, sometimes the goal tracking gets confused; if they don’t seem to be counting, you can try force-quitting the app and re-starting it; I’ve occasionally done that when daily tasks aren’t registering. Make sure you’re using the weakest potion of the 3. This also got me during the 1st week.
Thanks for the tips! For me, the hardest part of what you said in the video is not using the port keys right when they are ready 😀 I have started using the Brain Elixir much more during events but I’ve never had 3 unopened port keys… That’s like postponing Christmas because you want more presents 😀 But I’m going to try and save some up today. One observation… Did you know Great and Masterful look and sound nothing alike, but in Wizarding context, I was pretty sure you meant Masterful spells and was thinking how weird it would be… Read more »
I just finished quest 4/4 and there’s 5D 4H left of the week, so I did it in less than two days. This was not fast enough to get the bonus quest. Anyone knows how fast you must be?
Sorry, I must correct myself. It just took a little while for the quest to show up.
Si two days is fast enough, but we still don’t know what the limit is.
I haven’t gotten a single Brilliant Portkey. I can’t complete the tasks without it and it’s driving me nuts.
