Are you ready for Community DayS?!

That’s right, witches and wizards! The October Community Day for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will actually last an entire 48 hours. Why? I have no idea, but I’m not complaining.

Actually, I do have an idea… The event will be on weekdays, an unusual departure from past Wizards Unite Community Day events. If I had to guess, this is to accommodate a changed schedule of events while the HPWU team works on bug fixes.

Discover all of the details for the upcoming Community Day in this Wizards Unite event guide.

Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing Wizards Unite Hub with early information so we can create Wizards Unite guides.

October 2021 Community Day Tasks

Like all recent Community Day events, this event includes a special set of tasks and rewards. These tasks are mostly doable, especially considering you have two days to get them all done. The one challenge will be walking off Portkeys, since Community Day is an unusual weekday event, AND not all players can even walk off Portkeys right now.

Everything on the Chess Chamber page is boosted, plus Young Neville Longbottom from the Room of Requirement I and Young Harry Potter from the Potions Classroom. Note that both of these require Riddikulus to overcome!

How many times will you prestige the Chess Chamber? Will you be able to prestige the Potions Classroom or the Room of Requirement I? Share your game goals in the comments!

Of course, if you already have a gold frame, you might decide to skip October’s Community Day. Personally, I have a gold frame, but just barely. I still need 11 Hermione Fragments and 23 Ron Fragments to reach green stars! I don’t even want to admit how many Flying Keys and Wizard Chess Queens I need…

Task Reward
Use Master Notes 4 Times 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion
Defeat 20 Foes in Wizarding Challenges 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion
Cast 30 Riddikulus Spells 6 Snowdrop
Return 20 Young Hermione Granger Foundables 6 Ginger Root
Return 15 Albus Dumbledore Foundables 2 Silver Keys
Return 1 Wizard Chess Queens from Portkeys 2 Healing Potions
Return 8 Flying Keys by Using Legends of Hogwarts Runestones 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion

Completion Rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 3 Spell Books
  • 60 Gold
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 30 Spell Energy

Preparing for Wizards Unite Community Day

October’s Community Day is nearly identical to most Community Days over the last year, except focused on different Registry pages. I do appreciate the subtle Dark Arts Month theme with Foundables guarded by Boggart Confoundables.

Once again, players have reasons to return Foundables AND to complete Wizarding Challenges AND to unlock Portkeys. These different event bonuses make Community Day customizable to your personal goals. Here are some ways to prepare before Community Day begins.

Portkeys

Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. These will contain Wizard Chess Queen Fragments, so you want to collect as many as you can… or as many as you need! (Fine, I admit I need 24 of these).

Unfortunately, Adventure Sync still isn’t fixed. Furthermore, many players can’t even get distance with the game open. I don’t have a solution for you, unless you have access to a second device.

Potions

Collect Ingredients and brew Potions so you have a good supply by Community Day.

If you don’t get Ingredients at home, stay safe while venturing out. Local parks, shopping malls, city centers, and college campuses usually have great Map activity.

You can also plant Seeds in Greenhouses to collect Baneberry, Leaping Toadstool, Sopophorous Bean, and Snowdrop.

These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection.

Baneberry Bulbadox Juice Angel’s Trumpet Erumpent Horn

While these Ingredients are still boosted under the “play at home” changes, not all players can find Ingredients at home, and many players are still under lockdown.

You can ask your friends to send you Ingredient Gifts and Tonic for Trace Detection Gifts.

To maximize your Tonic benefits, consider unlocking a few helpful nodes in your SOS Training. Each of these will allow your Tonic to reveal additional Traces.

  • Stir Crazy (I,7)
  • Concentrated Concoction (II,25)
  • Trained For This (III,38)

Brew a few of these in advance so you’re ready on Community Day, but mostly just stockpile Ingredients. Brewing time will be vastly reduced, so you can rebuild your Potions supply during Community Day!

You will also want a few Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs. With boosted Severe-threat and Emergency-threat Foundables, this is a great opportunity to grind Wizarding XP!

These are the Ingredients you need to brew Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.

Leaping Toadstool Frog Brain Runespoor Eggs Powdered Dragon Claw

To maximize your Brain Elixir benefits, consider unlocking some helpful nodes in your SOS Training.

These SOS Training Lessons improve Brain Elixir potency, meaning you earn even more Wizarding XP.

  • Start a Movement (I,6)
  • Sous Vide (I,10)
  • Clear Your Mind (II,17)

These SOS Training Lessons lengthen the Potion duration. Each of these adds 5 additional minutes.

  • A Wing and a Flare (I,7)
  • Temp Work (II,19)
  • Bottoms Up (II,22)

You should also consider brewing some Dawdle Draught, especially if you’re under Level 40. Both the Unicorn and Pickett are Severe-threat Foundables and Newt Scamander is an Emergency-threat Foundable, so Dawdle Draughts will prevent them from fleeing!

These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.

Valerian Root Sopophorous Bean Butterscotch Hermit Crab Shell

Finally, try to stock up on Exstimulo Potions. These will also be handy for the Emergency-threat and Severe-threat Foundables.

This quick chart shows which Ingredients you need for the entire Exstimulo family.

Shared between all Exstimulo Potions Bitter Root
Re’em blood
Snowdrop
Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient Granian Hair
Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient Abraxan Hair
Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient Unicorn Hair

Be sure to save enough Ingredients to brew Exstimulo Potions on Community Day itself.

Wizarding Challenges

If you need to earn Legends of Hogwarts Runestones to help with Community Day, start returning every Legends of Hogwarts Foundable you see. This will help you level up, and then you can collect Runestones.

If you are low on these Runestones, I advise against doing Wizarding Challenges with a Legends of Hogwarts Runestone in advance of Community Day. However, if Challenge Fragments are keeping you from prestiging Potions Classroom or Chess Chamber, you might choose to do Wizarding Challenges before Community Day to earn those Fragments.

Tips for Enjoying October’s Community Day

As long as you have Map activity at home, you can complete October’s Community Day from home. However, you still need to walk 1km to complete the Portkey task.

Two general reminders for Community Day. These have both been true the entire time, but I know some players still get confused.

  1. Dark Detectors do not have boosted event Traces.
  2. To earn Fortress bonuses on the Knight Bus, Community Day must be active for the player who first enters the Chamber.

How to Prestige Pages

If you need the Flying Key or the Wizard Chess Queen, AND you have plenty of Legends of Hogwarts Runestones, do Wizarding Challenges in advance to work on the Chess Chamber. You can also earn Half-Blood Prince’s Copy of Advanced Potion Making, in case you need that for the Potions Classroom.

Once Community Day begins, you have multiple possible strategies to follow, depending on which Fragments you need to earn to prestige your page(s).

At the beginning, if you still need all of the boosted Foundables, use your Trace Charm any Legends of Hogwarts Traces with orangish-red or red flares. Some of these will be Young Harry Potter from the Potions Classroom.

If you only need specific Foundables, enter each Legends of Hogwarts Encounter to discover the Foundable. As appropriate, back out and use your Trace Charm.

Keep in mind that even if you don’t need Young Neville Longbottom or Young Harry Potter, they both have Boggart Confoundables. You cast Riddikulus against these, which will help with that particular task.

If it’s safe to do so, place Dark Detectors on an Inn, or a cluster of Inns, to try to find the other Legends of Hogwarts Foundables from the Potions Classroom and the Room of Requirement I. While Dark Detectors do not benefit from event boosts, they still provide a variety of rare Foundables.

When using Tonic for Trace Detection, focus on just the Legends of Hogwarts Traces (and any other Traces that meet your other game goals). This will help you return enough Foundables quickly.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection while walking around. This will help you find Traces on the Map while also earning distance for your Portkeys.

The HPWU team is working to fix Adventure Sync, but we don’t have a timeline yet. Hopefully there’s a fix before Community Day. If not, you might need to skip the Portkey task or use a second device. Luckily we only need to open one Portkey.

Do Wizarding Challenges with a Legends of Hogwarts Runestone to earn Flying Key Fragments. You need to earn 8 for the task, but if you’re like me, you need many more.

Community Day Bundles

As always, the October Community Day includes a free store pack. You also have the option of buying premium store bundles.

Both the SOS Bundle and the Community Day Bundle are identical to recent events. Enjoy the same mathematical breakdown. Spoiler alert: They’re not good deals.

First up, the SOS Bundle! For 470 Gold, this bundle includes:

  • 2 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 5 Silver Keys
  • 50 Spell Energy

A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold. The value of 2 Tonics is thus 110 Gold. 50 Spell Energy costs 100 Gold. By breaking down the individual cost of Silver Keys in Diagon Alley, they are worth 72 Gold each, or 360 Gold for 5.

Thus, the value of the SOS Bundle is about 570 Gold if you want discounted Spell Energy, or 470 Gold if you don’t value Spell Energy. If you only need Silver Keys, the value is only about 360 Gold and not worth it.

The Community Day Bundle costs 420 Gold. This includes:

  • 4 Strong Exstimulo Potions
  • 4 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 20 Spell Energy
  • 5 Legends of Hogwarts Level 4 Runestones

A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.

Thus 4 Potent Potions are worth 284 Gold.

Using the cost breakdown from Andolov, we can assume that 5 Level 4 Runestones are worth 50 Gold.

Normally I don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions. However, these might be worth it to you if you need to replenish after the 1920s Event, AND Ingredients are scarce where you live.

In that case, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

Thus 4 Strong Potions might be worth 144 Gold to you.

If you value everything in the bundle, the overall value is 478 Gold, slightly better than the price tag. Personally, I have plenty of Legends of Hogwarts Runestones, plus a decent stock of Strong Exstimulo Potions. I do not plan on buying this bundle.

Final Thoughts on Community Day

If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, (and your weekday schedule allows it) set aside some time to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. This is a great way to walk off Portkeys and collect new Ingredients. Plant Snowdrop in a Greenhouse if you need it.

I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see in future event guides.

Do you have any tips for fellow witches and wizards to enjoy Community Day at home? Will you try to prestige one page or two? Share them in the comments or through our social media platforms!

As for portkeys.
i have an android phone, on which adventure sync does not work. But it registers walking distance with the app open.

Also I have a two year old ipad. At night I leave the ipad on, and portkeys with a key register in 6 hours a walking distance of 1 to 1.5km. So without walking it is possible to open the portkeys.

p.s. The geolocation on my phone is better and the above trick does not work on my phone.

Addition to the item above.
switch barrery saver on in the preferences in the app.
put your device (my ipad) upside down. The screen then blacks out. But the distance changes keep happening.

Brita, the task list rewards you posted differ from the WUTubers graphics being sent around – do you know which one is correct?

Looks like they have fixed a few bugs already on the server side, according to the 2.18 WU bug post. 2.19 should solve the activity bug.

Hit level 60 with the last event. XP doesn’t count for anything but daily and event tasks now. Wasn’t a goal to hit 60. Really just trying to get the lessons done.

Just going to relax this time. Thank you for your guide.

Community Day just started here in Japan. Error #1: The event clock is counting down from 1 day and 12 hours (36 hours). Not two days (48 hours). Is that an error or is the information in this post wrong?

Thank you for the reply. Either they got your message or found out from someone else because when I logged in 12 hours later it showed the correct amount of time (no change from 12 hours ago).
Thanks again!
If you need any help or info from Japan just get in touch.

I recently reached level 60, and I wonder where all XP goes?

Yeah and the event just ended for me at 2pm MST in the US, I never had a chance to claim the rewards for anything I did finish because I was capped on potions and needed to burn a few to collect the daily.

Little frustrating that this was supposed to be a 48 hour event, but I download assets with 10 hours left in the event and now the event is over for me…task list gone, nothing spawning, no flying keys…

I’m not in Twitter 😔 and I’m still not getting the flying key. Only need 3 to finish the task and have done a bunch of challenges using the correct runestone.
