The Hogwarts Invitation You’ve Always Wanted!

Every year, the first of September is celebrated as one of the most cherished dates by fans of the wizarding world world: Back to Hogwarts.

As you already know, each year a new school term begins at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for those lucky enough to have received their acceptance letter. To celebrate this date in 2021, Wizarding World Digital has selected the theme of the 20th anniversary of the first movie of the saga: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

This film was screened for the first time in November 2001, so from the end of August until November, Wizarding World Digital will celebrate a different iconic scene from the movie every single week. You can participate in activities like quizzes, crafts, and more on the Wizarding World Digital website.

Tomorrow, things really heat up as fans of the saga around the world are invited to a countdown before the Hogwarts Express sets off, with a livestream that you’ll be able to watch wherever you are. This interactive celebration will be available on the Wizarding World YouTube channel starting at 10:30am BST (5:30am ET and 3:30am PT) on the 1st of September.

The event will be hosted by the renowned DJ Yinka Bokinni (AKA YinkDaddy). If you do not know about her, she is a broadcaster, DJ, and writer from London who recently gained attention for her critically acclaimed documentary, Damilola: The Boy Next Door.

Yinka will guide fans through an interactive celebration of 20 years of fandom and share breaking news and features that Harry Potter fans will not want to miss – and Tom Felton, our very beloved Draco Malfoy, will be making an extra-special appearance. You can also expect one emotional montage or another. After all, this fandom now spans more than two decades, and we know that many of you have many personal memories of the magical world.

There is a whole celebration planned to commemorate this magical and significant date for fans of the The Boy Who Lived. Perhaps we will even learn a little more information about the next Harry Potter Quiz Show.

Tell us what you think about these activities to celebrate the movie that started it all. We know that the schedule may not be the most convenient for what we are in America, but Harry Potter fans are worldwide. Will you watch the livestream? What news do you think they will share that day? Do you have any particular memory you would like to share from when you saw the first movie? Tell us in the comments section.
