Final Thoughts on December 2021

With the 1920s Wizarding World Convergence overlapping other events, there will be non-stop action for players early in the month and what looks like a 10-day gap for Christmas. What have you thought of the Lethal Adversaries thus far? Are you feeling confident about taking on Bellatrix and Voldemort? What do you think of the overlapping events? Is there anything in particular you are excited about on the December calendar? Let your thoughts be known in the comments here or on the WizHub social media platforms. We read all comments, even though we’re unable to respond to them all.

  • Various other rewards including Ingredients, Potions, Silver Keys, and more from both regular tasks and bonus tasks.

Brilliant Event Tasks

Tasks are nearly identical to what we normally see, and they are not adjusted for a short event. However, based on recent Brilliant Events, you should (maybe) get credit for collecting Fragments instead of returning Foundables.

The first quest asks you to brew Potions, which you can do in advance. Collect them when the event begins.

Do NOT visit the Brilliant Registry until you reach the second quest, which requires you to collect Runestones. If you saved any Brilliant Portkeys from the previous event, open them now to earn extra Brilliant Family XP.

The third and fourth quests are both going to be grinds in order to return enough of the needed Foundables. The Trace Charm might help if we get credit for collecting Fragments.

As usual, in the fourth quest you need to place Images in the Brilliant Registry. To do this quickly, wait until that quest begins before you place any Images.

The Bonus Assignment is pretty standard, so good luck.

Constance’s Lament Quest 1/4

Collecting Ingredients, Portmanteaus, or Spell Energy is pretty straightforward.

You can pre-brew your Potions, so they are ready to collect as soon as the event begins.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find enough Brilliant Traces.

Collect 3 Ingredients or Portmanteaus on the Map 20 Gold
Brew 3 Potions 20 Gold
Return 12 Brilliant Vanishing Cabinet Foundables 2 Exstimulo Potions

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 2/4

The Master Notes task will slow down your progress, though you can rent a second cauldron to complete that task a little sooner. Brew regular Exstimulo or Healing Potions because they have the shortest brewing time.

Both of the Brilliant Foundables use Arresto Momentum. The following Foundables also use this spell:

  • Bludger
  • Crystal Ball
  • Decoy Detonators
  • Dirigible Plum
  • Dumbledore’s Memory Cabinet
  • Flock of Interdepartmental Memos
  • Foe-Glass
  • Hand of Glory
  • Pensieve
  • Portrait of Albus Dumbledore
  • Vanishing Cabinet
  • Angelina Johnson
  • Slytherin Seeker Draco Malfoy
  • Proprietor Fred Weasley

Visit the Brilliant Registry to collect Brilliant Runestones.

Cast 15 Fair (or better) Arresto Momentum Spells 2 Dawdle Draughts
Use Master Notes 5 Times 30 Gold
Collect 6 Brilliant Constance’s Lament Runestones 5 Bitterroot

2nd Quest Rewards

  • 750 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 3/4

Another Tonic for Trace Detection will help you find enough Brilliant Vanishing Cabinet, Foundables guarded by Finite, and Severus Snape Foundables.

Remember that Brilliant Quaffle and Brilliant Quidditch Fan Neville Longbottom will also be on the Map. They both use Finite.

Return 10 Brilliant Dumbledore’s Portrait Foundables 3 Silver Keys
Cast 5 Fair (or better) Finite Spells 40 Gold
Return 15 Severus Snape Foundables 3 Strong Exstimulo Potions

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 1250 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 4/4

Take a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir before heading to the Knight Bus to ensure you get the most Wizarding XP possible from each Fortress battle.

Use Brilliant Runestones while doing those Wizarding Challenges to earn the Brilliant Conspiring Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape Image. Remember that you can place it multiple times if needed.

If you choose to drink a Tonic for Trace Detection to reveal extra Brilliant Foundables, I would suggest doing so after finishing the Challenges – that way it may still be active when you move on to the Bonus Assignments, getting you more bang for your brew!

Place 5 Brilliant Constance’s Lament Registry Images 2 Spell Books
Earn 2500 Wizarding XP from Challenges 2 Spell Books
Collect 15 Mysterious Note Pieces by Returning Brilliant Constance’s Lament Foundables 2 Spell Books

4th Quest Rewards

  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Gold
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 30 Spell Energy
  • 1 Brilliant Regulus Black’s Locket Registry Image

Constance’s Lament BONUS Assignment!

To earn 12,500 Wizarding XP quickly, once again, drink a Brain Elixir. Wait until you’re on the Bonus Assignment to open 20 Gifts, prioritizing any Extravagant Gifts and others with high Wizarding XP. Honestly, I can get the 12,500 Wizarding XP with a Brain Elixir and just a handful of Extravagant Gifts.

If you can’t earn all of the Wizarding XP from Gifts, you can also return Foundables. Use your Trace Charm on every orangish-red and red beam (Severe and Emergency Traces). If you can visit an Inn safely, stack Dark Detectors to attract a greater amount of high-threat Traces.

To defeat 15 Formidable Foes, hop on the Knight Bus. You usually get 3-4 Foes per Challenge in Ruins IV to Tower III and some of those are bound to be Formidable (aka., those with 2 stars).

Finally, use another Tonic for Trace Detection to find the 15 Brilliant Constance’s Lament Foundables, plus Tom Riddle.

Return 15 Brilliant Constance’s Lament Foundables 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions
Earn 12,500 Wizarding XP from Any Source 2 Silver Keys
Defeat 15 Formidable Foes in Wizarding Challenges 2 Spell Books
Return 2 Tom Riddle Foundables 2 Spell Books
Return 10 Magical Games and Sports Foundables 3 Wit-Sharpening Potions

Bonus Assignment Rewards

  • 2000 Wizarding XP
  • 100 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1 Brilliant Achievement Badge
  • 20 Spell Energy
  • 5 Brilliant Poisoned Oak-Matured Mead Registry Images

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Just like all Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables on the Map. The others are available as rewards for doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

If you complete the Bonus Assignment, you do NOT need to unlock any Brilliant Portkeys.

Brilliant Where to Find it Fragments to Collect
Brilliant Vanishing CabinetBrilliant Vanishing Cabinet Wild Encounter 20
Brilliant Portrait of Albus DumbledoreBrilliant Portrait of Albus Dumbledore Wild Encounter 20
Brilliant Conspiring Draco Malfoy and Severus SnapeBrilliant Conspiring Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape Wizarding Challenges (use an event Runestone) 3
Brilliant Poisoned Oak-Matured MeadBrilliant Poisoned Oak-Matured Mead Brilliant Portkey Portmanteau 5
Brilliant Regulus Black's LocketBrilliant Regulus Black’s Locket Brilliant Event Quest Reward 1

How to Prepare for the Brilliant Event

If you have Brilliant Constance’s Lament Runestones left from Part 1, use those to earn 3 Brilliant Broken Love-Struck Ron Weasley Fragments. Wait until the fourth quest to place him. This should count towards the task.

Most Wizards Unite events, including Brilliant Events, will be easier to complete if you work on your SOS Training. Unlock as many of these nodes as you can!

With a more potent Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, you can earn Wizarding XP more quickly.

With reduced brewing times for Exstimulo Potions and Healing Potions, you can complete Master Notes tasks more quickly. You can also brew Potions more quickly.

With more Traces revealed by Tonic for Trace Detection, you can more quickly find Brilliant Traces. This will help you complete tasks.

Brilliant Event Bundles

As usual, you have the option to collect 1 free bundle and to buy 3 premium bundles. Don’t forget the open your free bundle before the event ends! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind.

First up, the SOS Bundle! This bundle has recently been upgraded in Brilliant Events: 10 Silver Keys and 100 Spell Energy for 450 Gold.

You can buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold. If you only need Silver Keys, the SOS Bundle is still an amazing value. Plus, you get extra Spell Energy!

Next up, the Brilliant Bundle! For 800 Gold, you get:

  • 5 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
  • 8 Exstimulo Potions
  • 5 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 30 Spell Energy

A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.

Thus 5 Brain Elixirs are worth 470 Gold.

A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold.

Thus 5 Tonics are worth 275 Gold.

I do not recommend spending Gold on regular Exstimulo Potions or their Ingredients (although Snowdrop has been in short supply lately).

Finally, the Spell Energy is worth 60 Gold.

The total value of the bundle is 805 Gold, a savings of just 5 Gold. You may decide this is a smart purchase for you if you are low on Ingredients for the Potions or they are particularly rare where you live.

Finally, the Bonus Assignment Bundle! For 2100 Gold, you get:

  • 10 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 6 Strong Exstimulo Potions
  • 6 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 10 Silver Keys
  • 150 Spell Energy

10 Tonics are worth 550 Gold.

Because the Ingredients needed to brew regular or Strong Exstimulo Potions are fairly common, it is typically not a good value to purchase them in Diagon Alley. For those who want to know the math, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

If you really need those Strong Potions, 6 could be worth 216 Gold.

(Also, the reason I look at all Ingredients for Strong Exstimulo Potion is because you should only spend Gold on these if you desperately can’t get the Ingredients. In that case, the cost comparison is for the cost of Ingredients).

A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.

Thus 10 Potent Potions cost 426 Gold.

10 Silver Keys cost 720 Gold.

Before Spell Energy, this bundle is worth up to 1912 Gold. With Spell Energy, it’s still only worth 2212 Gold. If you really need Potions and Spell Energy, this bundle might be worth it to you.

Are you ready for a long Community weekend in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite? During this special event which has no theme, players will encounter all the adorable Baby Beast Foundables… And maybe? 1920s Portkey Portmanteaus on the Map.

While I love a good theme myself, I believe the HPWU team decided to combine this long weekend to help players still hoping to prestige pages. Forbidden Forest II is the newest page in the regular Exploration Registry. The 1920s pages are the newest pages overall in the Exploration Registry.

Plus, this is a holiday weekend in the United States, so not a time to schedule a challenging event.

This event will be Wednesday, November 24 to Monday, November 29, starting at midnight PT and ending at 11am PT. This will NOT be local time. All events will be based in PT going forward.

Discover all of the details for the long weekend in this Wizards Unite event guide.

Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing Wizards Unite Hub with early information so we can create Wizards Unite guides.

Like all recent Community Day events, this event includes a special set of tasks and rewards. These tasks are comparable to what we normally see, but players have much longer to complete them all. The one challenge will be walking off Portkeys.

Everything on the Forbidden Forest II page is boosted, plus Baby Beasts from other Registry pages. How many times will you prestige Forbidden Forest II?

Of course, if you already have a gold frame, you might decide to skip November’s Community weekend. Personally, I have a gold frame, but I just earned my last Baby Phoenix Fragment a few weeks ago, so I’m still working on the entire page.

Preparing for Wizards Unite Community Day

November’s Community Day is structured like most Community Days over the last year, except focused on different Registry pages, and combined with a 1920s Wizarding World Convergence.

As usual, players have reasons to return Foundables AND to complete Wizarding Challenges AND to unlock Portkeys. These different event bonuses make Community Day customizable to your personal goals, especially as we approach the end of the game. Here are a few basic tips to prepare before Community Day begins.

Portkeys

Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. Depending on your goals, you’ll want to focus on the Community Day Portkeys or the 1920s ones. Keep in mind that the former are necessary to complete event tasks, but if you’re not concerned about the rewards, you can prioritized the 1920s Portkeys.

Potions

Collect Ingredients and brew Potions so you have a good supply by Community Day.

If you don’t get Ingredients at home, stay safe while venturing out. Local parks, shopping malls, city centers, and college campuses usually have great Map activity.

You can also plant Seeds in Greenhouses to collect Baneberry, Leaping Toadstool, Sopophorous Bean, and Snowdrop.

These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection.

Baneberry Bulbadox Juice Angel’s Trumpet Erumpent Horn

While these Ingredients are still boosted under the “play at home” changes, not all players can find Ingredients at home, and many players are still under lockdown.

You can ask your friends to send you Ingredient Gifts and Tonic for Trace Detection Gifts.

To maximize your Tonic benefits, consider unlocking a few helpful nodes in your SOS Training. Each of these will allow your Tonic to reveal additional Traces.

  • Stir Crazy (I,7)
  • Concentrated Concoction (II,25)
  • Trained For This (III,38)

Brewing time is always extra-reduced now with Master Notes, so brew these whenever is convenient.

You will also want a few Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs. With boosted Severe-threat Foundables, this is a great opportunity to grind Wizarding XP!

These are the Ingredients you need to brew Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.

Leaping Toadstool Frog Brain Runespoor Eggs Powdered Dragon Claw

To maximize your Brain Elixir benefits, consider unlocking some helpful nodes in your SOS Training.

These SOS Training Lessons improve Brain Elixir potency, meaning you earn even more Wizarding XP.

  • Start a Movement (I,6)
  • Sous Vide (I,10)
  • Clear Your Mind (II,17)

These SOS Training Lessons lengthen the Potion duration. Each of these adds 5 additional minutes.

  • A Wing and a Flare (I,7)
  • Temp Work (II,19)
  • Bottoms Up (II,22)

You should also consider brewing some Dawdle Draught, especially if you’re under Level 40. Both Baby Cerberus and Baby Chinese Fireball are Severe-threat Foundables, so Dawdle Draughts will prevent them from fleeing!

These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.

Valerian Root Sopophorous Bean Butterscotch Hermit Crab Shell

Finally, try to stock up on Exstimulo Potions. These will also be handy for the Emergency-threat Foundables.

This quick chart shows which Ingredients you need for the entire Exstimulo family.

Shared between all Exstimulo Potions Bitter Root
Re’em blood
Snowdrop
Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient Granian Hair
Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient Abraxan Hair
Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient Unicorn Hair

Wizarding Challenges

If you need to earn Care of Magical Creatures Runestones to help with Community Day, start returning every Care of Magical Creatures Foundable you see. This will help you level up, and then you can collect Runestones.

If you are low on these Runestones, I advise against doing Wizarding Challenges with a Care of Magical Creatures Runestone in advance of Community Day. However, if Challenge Fragments are keeping you from prestiging Hagrid’s Hut or Forbidden Forest, you might choose to do Wizarding Challenges before Community Day to earn those Fragments.

Tips for Enjoying November’s Community Day

As long as you have Map activity at home (or wherever you’re spending the holiday weekend, American witches and wizards), you can complete these tasks from home. However, you still need to walk either 1km with 4 Silver Keys to complete the Portkey task, or 5km total. Luckily Adventure Sync is fixed, which helps.

Two overall reminders for Community Day. While these have both been true the entire time, I know some players still get confused.

  1. Dark Detectors do not have boosted event Traces.
  2. To earn Fortress bonuses on the Knight Bus, Community Day must be active for the player who first enters the Chamber.

How to Prestige Pages

If you need Baby Phoenix, AND you have plenty of Care of Magical Creatures Runestones, do Wizarding Challenges in advance to work on Forbidden Forest II. You can also earn Hagrid’s Hut Fragments or Abraxan Winged Horse Fragments, in case you need either of those for Hagrid’s Hut. You also might earn Puffskein to work on Forbidden Forest.

Once Community Day begins, you have multiple possible strategies to follow, depending on which Fragments you need to earn to prestige your page(s).

At the beginning, if you still need all of the boosted Foundables, use your Trace Charm on any Care of Magical Creatures Traces with orangish-red flares. These will usually be Baby Cerberus or Baby Chinese Fireball.

If you only need specific Foundables, enter each Care of Magical Creatures Encounter to discover the Foundable. As appropriate, back out and use your Trace Charm.

If it’s safe to do so, place Dark Detectors on an Inn, or a cluster of Inns, to try to find the other Care of Magical Creatures Foundables from Hagrid’s Hut, Pumpkin Patch, and Forbidden Forest. This also might help with the other Foundables from Newt’s Case (Baby Niffler is boosted) and King’s Cross Station (Baby Mandrake is boosted). While Dark Detectors do not benefit from event boosts, they still provide a variety of rare Foundables.

When using Tonic for Trace Detection, focus on just the Care of Magical Creatures Traces (and any other Traces that meet your other game goals). This will help you return sufficient Foundables quickly to complete tasks.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection while walking around. This will help you find Traces on the Map while also earning distance for your Portkeys.

Do Wizarding Challenges with a Care of Magical Creatures Runestone to earn Baby Phoenix Fragments. You need to earn 8 for the task, but if you’re like me, you need many more to green star it on a gold frame.

Meanwhile, pick up 1920s Portkeys and walk them off. Ideally you can open up your phone periodically to check to see if you’ve unlocked any. Open them all, reap the rewards, and then start anew with more Portkeys.

Community Day Bundles

As always, the November Community Day includes a free store pack. You also have the option of buying premium store bundles.

Both the SOS Bundle and the Community Day Bundle have jumped up in value! Are they a good deal?

First up, the SOS Bundle! For 470 Gold, this bundle includes:

  • 2 3 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 5 10 Silver Keys
  • 50 75 Spell Energy

A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold. The value of 3 Tonics is thus 165 Gold. 75 Spell Energy costs 150 Gold. You can buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold.

Thus, the value of the SOS Bundle is 1035 Gold if you want discounted Spell Energy, or 885 Gold if you don’t value Spell Energy. If you only need Silver Keys, the value is still 720 Gold and definitely worth it!

Next up, the Community Day Bundle! For 420 Gold, this bundle includes:

  • 4 5 Strong Exstimulo Potions
  • 4 5 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 20 25 Spell Energy
  • 5 6 Care of Magical Creatures Level 4 Runestones

A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.

Thus 5 Potent Potions are worth 355 Gold.

Using the cost breakdown from Andolov, we can assume that 5 Level 4 Runestones are worth 50 Gold.

Normally I don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions. However, these might be worth it to you if you need to replenish after the Lethal Adversaries, AND Ingredients are scarce where you live.

In that case, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

Thus 5 Strong Potions might be worth 180 Gold to you.

25 Spell Energy is worth 50 Gold.

If you value everything in the bundle, the overall value is 635 Gold, definitely better than the price tag. However, if you only need Potions, the bundle is worth 535 Gold. Still a decent savings, but not amazing. Personally, I’m just spending Gold on Snowdrop because I can still find my other Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions.

Final Thoughts on Community Weekend

If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, set aside some time to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. This is a great way to walk off Portkeys and collect new Ingredients. Plant Snowdrop in a Greenhouse if you need it.

Plus Americans can enjoy a post-feast leisurely stroll!

I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know which Foundables you would like to see boosted in a future event, before Wizards Unite ends.

Do you have any tips for fellow witches and wizards to enjoy Community Day at home? Will you try to prestige one page or two? Share them in the comments or through our social media platforms!

You can also support me directly on Kofi, which helps cover my tea-drinking habit. Also I will no longer have a steady freelance job starting February 1, 2022. 🙁

Editor’s note: Karthik Bhojaraj submitted this a few weeks ago, but I just now have time to edit. Wizards Unite Hub will not create many more strategy guides for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite due to the game ending in January 2022, but I want to publish what my team has already written.

Fortresses are the special place in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, where players join together to fight off the difficult Foes and win many Fragment rewards, along with the Spell Books. The difficulty of these Foes increases as the players climb the Chambers rank. You can read our Crash Course on Fortresses in Wizards Unite to learn more!

Fortresses are mainly designed to be played in groups, where all the 3 professions are strategically used to work together and climb higher Chambers together. That’s the most important aspect of the game- Wizards to unite to defeat the threats!!

That said, sometimes you can’t find other teammates, whether you’re battling at a local Fortress or on the Knight Bus. While the Knight Bus allows all players to do Wizarding Challenges at any place and time, it’s not a guaranteed way to find fellow players.

Here are some tips and tricks if you want to learn how to effectively solo Fortresses as an Auror in Wizards Unite.

Disclaimer: I am a maxed Auror, having completed all the Auror Fundamentals. My player level is 60. I have the necessary expertise to guide beginners and intermediate players alike. This guide will help you to climb higher through the Fortress Chambers.

That said, the general advice I give here is relevant no matter what level you are on.

Potions to Solo Wizarding Challenges

If you don’t want to use any Potions, you can of course ignore this part. If you only want to use some, or want to use as many as necessary, here is what you need to know.

Note: These Potions are more effective if the corresponding SOS lessons are also learnt. You can learn more about them here.

As an Auror, stocking up with Healing Potions is a must. Aurors are very great in dealing more Damage, but we are very squishy. As a solo champ, the higher Chambers you climb, the amount of Healing Potions needed increases drastically. I recommend you keep a stock of 30+ Healing Potions.

The second priority will be the Exstimulo Potions. I prefer to save the Strong Exstimulo Potions and the Potent Exstimulo Potions when climbing the higher Chambers as the Foes become more powerful to handle!

The Invigoration Draught Potion and the Strong Invigoration Draught Potion can be used if you need more Focus to cast Strategic Spells. But this is just an option as Aurors will rarely be in the need for Focus, so this is just a player’s preference.

And, of course, if you are going to spend a bit of time in the Fortress, using a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir is not a bad idea. It won’t directly help you beat the Foes in any way, but the XP gained from battling Fortresses is pretty nice.

Auror’s Skill Tree

Where should you be spending your Scrolls and hard-earned Spell Books? I give some suggestions here, and remember to check out our Profession Build Planner to see how many Scrolls, Spell Books, and Restricted Section Books you will need for this.

Keep in mind that some of the initial skills you choose might be different than other players. The nodes you unlock first affect the way you play with a team, so keep in mind that you might prefer to strategize for playing with a team vs. soloing.

Strategic Spells

Strategic Spells are the ones you can place on yourself, your Teammates, or your Foes while you are in the lobby. They will either Enhance you and your Teammates, or Impair your Foes. Each profession has four of these Spells, and here is what you, as an Auror, need to know about yours.

Confusion Hex

The Confusion Hex is one of the important Strategic Spell that you should focus on first, especially if you are going to battle Fortresses on your own. This Hex costs 1 Focus, and it is used to impair a Foe by lowering their Dodge, Defense, and Defense Breach up to 60%! But do not waste using this Hex on any tier of Acromantulas as they cannot be confused! Same goes to all the tiers of Death Eaters! Try to spend your initial Restricted Section Books in unlocking this skill from the skill tree, as this Hex is very much important in both solo and group battles!

The skill tree nodes will be:

  • The Confusion Hex
  • Confusion Hex Repetitions
  • Confusion Hex Mastery

These nodes are gated with other nodes so please spend the resources mindfully.

This Strategic Spell becomes vital once you reach the higher Tower Chambers for easy solo.

Weakening Hex

The next important Hex to prioritize is the Weakening Hex. This one also costs 1 Focus and is used to impair a Foe by lowering their power. Casting this Hex reduces the amount of Damage received by the Foe by 50% at max level. This Hex and the Confusion Hex will usually go hand-in-hand. Unlike the Confusion Hex, the Weakening Hex is effective to all the Foes. Beginners should concentrate trying to unlock this node as soon as possible.

The skill tree nodes will be:

  • The Weakening Hex
  • Improved Weakening Hex
  • Weakening Hex Maxima

This Strategic Spell becomes vital once you reach the higher Tower Chambers for easy solo.

Focus Charm

The Focus Charm lets you transfer the Focus to your teammates. This Hex is not that useful when it comes to solo play, but in group battles, this Hex determines the flow of the game. Also, this Hex can be used between 2 Aurors to exchange Focus between each other to complete the “Cast <number> Strategic Spells in Wizard Challenges”

Concentrate on this skill node depending on whether you will only play solo play or group play in the initial stage.

Bat-Bogey Hex

You can ignore this completely until you have unlocked all the necessary nodes that require the Restricted Section Books. This Hex reduces the opposing Foe stamina by 3 points. This is not any big Hex for solo play, but can be helpful when used on the Foe who is affected by the Professor’s Deterioration Hex.

You can place the Bat-Bogey Hex more than once, with a 6-second cool down. It will deal 3 Damage each time.

Other Useful Skills

Aurors are mainly know for their famous “Dancing with Dummies” skill that gives 35% more Precision with Foes with 100% stamina. When this skill is combined with maxed Precision, an Auror will do Critical Hit almost every once in 3 hits. Usually Aurors will always start their first hit with a Critical Hit, but once every 3 hits isn’t anything to ignore!

The other important reason is also with their other famous skill, “First Strike.” First Strike gives plus 50% of Critical Power against Foes with 100% stamina. First Strike along with Dancing with Dummies will help Aurors deal a huge amount of damage on first hit on all Foes.

Also, the more Focus you can hold, the more Strategic Spells you can cast!! Aurors can store up to 4 Focus when the battle starts, so concentrating on these skill nodes will help both the solo and group play. This will definitely reduce the use of the Invigoration Draughts drastically!

Apart from that, it’s a good idea to focus your Skill Tree on Power, Precision, Critical Power–anything that increases your chances of doing more Damage. This is especially useful if you are trying to fight as high Chambers as possible, because the more Damage you can do to the Foes, the faster you will win your battles. Having a lot of defense and lasting long is nice, it means fewer Healing Potions used, but the longer it takes you to beat the Foes, the bigger the risk that the timer runs out and you lose the Challenge.

Picking a Chamber as a Solo Auror

Now that you have your Potions brewed, and your skill tree optimized as far as you can, you are ready to enter the Fortress. The question now becomes which Chamber you should pick. This choice depends on how difficult you want the battle to be, which in turn may depend on how willing you are to use up your Potions.

Brita also has a general video on choosing a Chamber, looking at your resources and your goals.

No Potions

The beginner Aurors can climb the Fortress until Tower I-II without Potions and with decent skills unlocked. The higher Chambers you climb, the more difficult the Chambers become. A maxed Auror can still climb until Tower V and maybe until Forest I, depending on the type of the Foes. After Forest I, it is always necessary to have at least one Potion to finish the Chamber before the clock runs out.

With a better RNG, Aurors can also solo up to Forest III without Potions. However, before entering a Chamber that high, be sure you have some Potions on hand, just in case.

Remember that you don’t need to survive every battle. If you run out of Health, you will be knocked out and unable to fight for a certain amount of time, but after that, you can go back in and continue where you left off. Your Foes will have kept the same Health level, and any Hexes or Charms you have placed will still be working. In lower Chambers, you should have time to finish the fight even if you are knocked out once or twice. In Forest I, I can afford being knocked out at least once and still win the Challenge.

With one Healing Potion, I can solo Forest I without a restart.

With Potions

If your goal is to get as high as you can, no matter which Potions you need to use, well, then keep fighting each Chamber that unlocks until you can no longer beat them. You can solo until Forest V or even Dark I with a decent amount of Potions and with good RNG (the random selection of Foes). I once did try to solo Dark V and the amount of Potions spent is so much that I don’t recommend it to anyone, unless you need to have fun!

Picking a Runestone to Solo a Fortress

Which Family Runestone you should pick is entirely up to you. The Family affects what kind of reward you will get, but not how difficult the Challenge will be for you. The level of the Runestone you choose, however, will have an impact on the difficulty.

If you ever play with others, save your higher-level Runestones for team play, because the rewards will be so much better. However, if you only play alone, feel free to use the higher-level Runestones whenever you like.

The higher the level Runestone you pick, the more difficult the Chamber will be, and the better rewards you will get. No matter how high the Runestone you choose, though, one Chamber will never be more difficult than the one above it. For example, using a level 5 Runestone in Tower V will not make that Chamber more difficult than using a level 1 Runestone in Forest I.

So if you know that one Chamber is almost too difficult for you with a level 1 Runestone, you probably don’t want to risk wasting a level 5 Runestone in that Chamber, in case you don’t manage it.

Do not mind the amount of Runestones!!. The more you grind, the more Runestones you can collect!

That said, the Chamber that is the highest recommended for you should still be more than possible to manage on a level 5 Runestone, even without Potions.

Picking a Foe in a Solo Wizarding Challenge

When you enter a Chamber, you will see only one Foe at first. The others spawn after a bit of time. You do not have to commit to this first Foe you see, and depending on how you intend to play, you may not want to.

No Potions

Until Tower III, you can pretty much take down any Foes with decent skills unlocked and also with the help of Strategic Spells. After Tower IV, the RNG might start to work the other way, and you might have to redo the battle after recovering health in the middle of the battle. You can move till Forest IV with good RNG.

With Potions

You can take out the Death Eaters and Dark Wizards if you see them first as they will not need Potions. For other Foes, you can drink a Strong Exstimulo Potion and take down the neutral and deficient Foes faster!

At higher Chambers, the Foes can be taken down much faster with boosted Potion efficiency from the SOS skill tree. Strong Exstimulo Potions and Healing Potions should be sufficient to solo the Fortress up through Dark I.

You can try to solo even the Dark V, but that will require you to use Healing Potion every 2-3 hits and a Strong Exstimulo Potion every 1-2 Foes. Dark V solo is just another fun experiment and should be attempted only with large storage of Potions!!

Elites and Double Hits

There will be Elite Foes sometimes in the Chambers, and after Tower IV, they will almost need Wit-Sharpening Potions to deal sufficient Damage! And especially after Forest I, you can find at least one Elite Foe in the Chamber.

Also be aware of some double hits by Foes. If not planned properly, you can almost lose a Chamber! These double hits are pure RNG. If it is an Acromantula hitting a double hit, then it’s something to worry about!

Actions to Take Between Foes

When taking down a Foe, if it is just <10 stamina away from defeat, you can come out of the Foe and use the Bat-Bogey Hex on it. This can be done if there is enough time on the clock, to save Spell Energy. The Bat-Bogey Hex does more damage combined with the Deterioration Hex from the Professor in a group play. Every time you move from one Foe to next one, make sure you are casting the necessary Strategic Spell to help finish the Fortress battles much faster!

That said, if you still need the Elite Foes for the Achievement, you don’t get credit when using the Bat-Bogey Hex for the final hit.

With this guide in mind, I hope you are feeling confident and ready to go fight in some Fortresses!

The third Lethal Adversaries Event is similar to the previous Lethal Adversaries Events. Players have 2 regular sets of tasks to complete, plus a Bonus Assignment.

As a reminder, rewards for all Wizards Unite events will be generous between now and the game’s end on January 31, 2022. Players can earn a great deal of Gold just by defeating the Guards!

If you are seeing plenty of Adversaries on the Map, wait until you’ve completed all other tasks before you use the Edible Dark Mark. Then it will help you with the 2nd quest.

The Fierce Death Eaters most likely refer to a Guard in the Lucius Malfoy chain.

Quest Step Reward
Use 1 Edible Dark Mark 20 Spell Energy
Defeat 10 Fierce Death Eaters 2 Wit-Sharpening Potions
Use 6 Potions in Adversary Encounters 2 Silver Keys
Return 8 Fragments from Lucius Malfoy Chains 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions

Overall rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 60 Gold

Draco Malfoy is a Guard in the Lucius Malfoy chain.

Defeat Draco Malfoy 6 Times 3 Spell Books
Return 6 Lucius Malfoy’s Wand Fragments 3 Spell Books
Defeat Lucius Malfoy 3 Times 3 Spell Books

Overall rewards:

  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1000 Wizarding XP
  • 40 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

How to Prepare for the Lethal Adversaries Event

My advice is is largely unchanged. The 1st Guard for each Adversary has more stamina than even Narcissa Malfoy. For this reason, players who haven’t completed an entire Profession Lesson Plan should just skip Lethal Adversaries.

For everyone else, work on your Advanced Adversarial Combat. Each unlocked node really makes a difference.

Strengthen your Potions through SOS Training. Brew the following Potions:

  • Strong and Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • Healing Potions
  • Tonics for Trace Detection (not as critical)

Max out your Spell Energy. Right now, Spell Energy on the Map is extremely generous, so this should be easy to do.

Use some of those extra Gold rewards to buy Vault Extensions so you can hold more Spell Energy, Potions, and Ingredients. You can also purchase missing Ingredients *coughSnowdropcough* for your Potions, which is a better deal than buying Potions in Diagon Alley.

This SOS Training chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions. Note the inclusion of nodes to improve Tonic for Trace Detection.

Tips to Enjoy the Lethal Adversaries Event

The Lethal Adversaries appear to be listed in chronological order of when they first combat with Harry Potter in the books. (Lucius Malfoy first appears in Chamber of Secrets, but readers don’t see him in combat until Order of the Phoenix).

Barty Crouch Jr.’s stamina is 4800. Thus we know that Dolores Umbridge’s stamina is 4200. Lucius Malfoy is most likely stronger than Barty Crouch Jr. Keep that in mind as you devise your own strategy.

If you have not progressed much with Advanced Adversarial Combat, focus on the Feared Adversaries. You can still enter Lethal Adversary Encounters, but consider backing out after the 1st Guard. Otherwise, you will need to use a lot of Potions–and you still might lose.

If you need Defense Against the Dark Arts Books (for Advanced Adversarial Combat and/or SOS Training), engage with every Adversary Encounter. You earn multiple DADA Books through Lethal Adversary chains, but those require more resources. You earn just 1 guaranteed DADA Book through Feared Adversary chains, but they are easier to complete.

If you don’t need anymore DADA Books, and you’ve already prestiged all of your Feared Adversaries, you can focus just on Lethal Adversaries. While Lucius Malfoy will be featured, both Barty Crouch Jr. and Dolores Umbridge will appear as will, giving you the opportunity to prestige them.

That said, if you still need specific Feared Adversaries to prestige, you can enter an Adversary Encounter to see who it is. If you still don’t need additional DADA Books, you can back out of any Adversary you’ve already green-starred on a gold frame.

How to Save on Potions

Due to the high stamina of Lethal Adversaries and their Guards, you will use a lot of Potions. However, you can take a few steps to minimize how many Potions you use.

First, cast your Maxima Attack without Potions. (This is if you’re trying to conserve Potions–otherwise use Potions immediately). Then stack a Potent Exstimulo Potion with a Wit-Sharpening Potion (5 charges towards the next Maxima). Be alert with Protego. Keep an eye on your health bar (this is easier with the new update since low health is indicated with red around your screen), and drink Healing Potions with abundant caution.

If you have more time than Potions, you can save on Potions by only casting Maxima. You earn 1 charge for each Healing Potion and 1 charge for each Protego. This is a slow way to recharge your Maxima Attack bar, but then you only expend Potions during the Maxima Attack, which does considerable Damage.

How to Charge Maxima Attack

Whenever you face a new Adversary in the chain, you start with a charged Maxima Attack. After that, you recharge it by taking certain actions. Here are all the charges you get with each action.

  • Drink a regular Exstimulo Potion: 1 charge
  • Drink a Strong Exstimulo Potion: 2 charges
  • Drink a Potent Exstimulo Potion: 3 charges
  • Drink a Healing Potion: 1 charge
  • Drink a Wit-Sharpening Potion: 2 charges
  • Attack the Foe: 2 charges
  • Cast Protego: 1 charge

How many charges you need to fill up the Maxima Attack bar depends on the Foe in the Adversary chain. These are the stats for Barty Crouch Jr. and his Guards.

  • 8 for Dangerous Azkaban Escapee
  • 10 for Vicious Death Eater
  • 10 for Peter Pettigrew
  • 12 for Barty Crouch Jr.

These are the stats for Dolores Umbridge and her Guards.

  • 8 for Brown Centaur
  • 10 for Dementor
  • 10 for Basilisk
  • 12 for Dolores Umbridge

It’s possible Lucius Malfoy and his Guards will require the same number of charges, but they could require more.

Avoid Getting Kicked out of a Lethal Adversary Encounter

Many players were kicked out of the Barty Crouch Jr. Adversary chain. Unfortunately, this bug continued with the Dolores Umbridge Adversary Event. If this happened to you, there are some steps you can take to avoid it.

If a Foe Dodges your Maxima Attack, it may cause your game to crash. This is how you can avoid this bug.

First, how the bug works.

  • Player casts Maxima.
  • Adversary Dodges.
  • Maxima bar is incorrectly shown as full.
  • If you try to cast Maxima again, the game will crash because the Maxima is not charged (the game is showing incorrect information).

Here’s what to do instead, if you cast Maxima and the Adversary Dodges.

  • Continue the battle using regular attacks.
  • Count your actions to calculate when the Maxima Attack is ready to use again.

If you’re fighting Barty Crouch Jr. or Dolores Umbridge, use the stats above to count out the number of charges.

Since we don’t yet know how many charges are  needed to refill Maxima for Lucius Malfoy and his Guards, we need to guess. For Lucius Malfoy and his Guards, a conservative estimate is adding 2 charges compared to Dolores Umbridge/Barty Crouch Jr..

Don’t forget, when you start battling the next Adversary in the chain, the Maxima Attack resets. It is safe to use at this point.

  • 8 Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • 8 Strong Exstimulo Potions

3 Edible Dark Marks are worth 720 Gold.

Thus 8 Potent Potions are worth 568 Gold.

Normally we don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions because their Ingredients are common. However, with frequent Wizards Unite events, players are going through their Potions quickly.

Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

Thus 8 Strong Potions are worth 288 Gold.

I really don’t recommend spending Gold on Wit-Sharpening Potions because Ingredients will be boosted during the event, AND you can get these Potions through Gifts.

Before Spell Energy, the bundle is really not worth the price asked. I only recommend this bundle for rural players who don’t have access to Ingredients or Spell Energy. And now, with Unicorn Hair available on the Map, and boosted Spell Energy, the bundle really isn’t a good deal.

  • Various other rewards including Ingredients, Potions, Silver Keys, and more from both regular tasks and bonus tasks.

Brilliant Event Tasks

Nothing is too original in the tasks, which have NOT been adapted to finish in 4 days.

The first quest requires doing Master Notes. You can start brewing a Potion before the Brilliant Event begins, but wait to use Master Notes. Then you can collect it quickly and do Master Notes on the next Potion.

After doing Master Notes for the first quest, do not collect any Potions. You need to brew 5 Potions for the third quest.

Do not visit the Brilliant Registry until you reach the third quest. You need to collect Brilliant Runestones here.

Also, stop returning Brilliant Foundables if you reach 19 of either while doing the first two quests. Once you reach 20, you’re automatically taken to the Brilliant Registry Page, which you do not want. If you forget, quickly force close the app to avoid collecting any Brilliant Runestones.

For the Bonus Assignment, you need to place Images in the Brilliant Registry. To do this quickly, wait until you have collected the rewards from your fourth quest before you place any Images.

Constance’s Lament Quest 1/4

Collecting Ingredients, Portmanteaus, or Spell Energy is pretty straightforward.

To use Master Notes quickly, brew short Potions. You can also spend Gold on a Rental Cauldron, or to collect 1 Potion immediately. See the tips above about timing the first Potion just right.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find enough Brilliant Traces.

Update: The task is Recover Fragments. You can use a Trace Charm to earn additional Fragments.

Collect 3 Ingredients or Portmanteaus on the Map 30 Gold
Use Master Notes 2 Times 20 Gold
Recover 12 Brilliant Quidditch Fan Neville Longbottom Fragments 3 Healing Potions

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 2/4

These tasks go together quite nicely. Tonic for Trace Detection should help you find both Luna Lovegood and Brilliant Quaffle Traces.

Update: For the Brilliant Quaffle, you need to recover Fragments. You can use a Trace Charm to earn more of these.

Return 12 Luna Lovegood Foundables 40 Gold
Use Tonic for Trace Detection 2 Times 3 Exstimulo Potions
Recover 12 Brilliant Quaffle Fragments 40 Gold

2nd Quest Rewards

  • 750 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 3/4

As already stated, you can brew your Potions in advance. When you collect them, you get credit for the task. If you want 5 Potions ready to collect immediately, you’ll need to buy a Rental Cauldron. Otherwise, just brew a Healing Potion or regular Exstimulo Potion.

Visit the Brilliant Registry to collect Brilliant Runestones. As long as you avoided it before this quest, you should have enough Brilliant Family XP to collect 5 Runestones.

Drink a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and take the Knight Bus.

Brew 5 Potions 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions
Collect 5 Brilliant Constance’s Lament Runestones 50 Gold
Earn 5000 Wizarding XP from Challenges 5 Silver Keys

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 1250 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Constance’s Lament Quest 4/4

Quidditch Keeper Ron Weasley is boosted. Find him with a Tonic for Trace Detection. He is a Severe-threat Foundable, so if you are a lower-level player, you might want to use a Dawdle Draught with an Exstimulo Potion.

To defeat 20 Foes, hop on the Knight Bus. You usually get 3-4 Foes per Challenge in Ruins IV to Tower III.

Use Brilliant Runestones while doing those Wizarding Challenges to earn the Brilliant Love-Struck Ron Weasley Fragments.

Return 10 Quidditch Keeper Ron Weasley Foundables 2 Spell Books
Defeat 20 Foes in Wizarding Challenges 2 Spell Books
Collect 3 Brilliant Love-Struck Ron Weasley Fragments by Using Brilliant Constance’s Lament Runestones 2 Spell Books

4th Quest Rewards

  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Gold
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 30 Spell Energy
  • 1 Brilliant Love Potion Infused Chocolate Cauldrons Registry Image

Burning Day BONUS Assignment!

Do Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones to earn Brilliant Love-Struck Ron Weasley Fragments. You can place this multiple times.

To earn 10,000 Wizarding XP quickly, once again, drink a Brain Elixir. Wait until you’re on the Bonus Assignment to open some Gifts, prioritizing any Extravagant Gifts and others with high Wizarding XP. This task is a smaller amount of XP than usual, and Brain Elixirs are giving triple XP, so this task is easy.

Finite is the spell to assist Foundables that have been transfigured. This is used for Brilliant Quaffle and Brilliant Quidditch Fan Neville Longbottom, which are boosted, but also Arthur Weasley, George Weasley, Quidditch World Cup, Quaffle, Pomona Sprout, Quidditch Fan Neville Longbottom, and the Slytherin Student. If you do the spell slowly or poorly, you may get the chance to cast several for each Foundable you return.

Finally, use Tonic for Trace Detection to find the 20 Magical Games and Sports Foundables, including Quidditch Captain Harry Potter. Only 2 of these are boosted, but any will count.

Place 5 Images on Constance’s Lament Page 2 Wit-Sharpening Potions
Return 20 Magical Games and Sports Foundables 2 Silver Keys
Earn 10,000 Wizarding XP from Any Source 2 Spell Books
Cast 20 Fair Finite Spells 20 Gold
Return 8 Quidditch Captain Harry Potter Foundables 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions

Bonus Assignment Rewards

  • 2000 Wizarding XP
  • 100 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1 Brilliant Achievement Badge
  • 20 Spell Energy
  • 5 Brilliant Vial of Felix Felicis Registry Images

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Just like all Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables on the Map. The others are available as rewards for doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

If you complete the Bonus Assignment, you do NOT need to unlock any Brilliant Portkeys.

How to Prepare for the Brilliant Event

Most Wizards Unite events, including Brilliant Events, will be easier to complete if you work on your SOS Training. Unlock as many of these nodes as you can!

With a more potent Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, you can earn Wizarding XP more quickly.

With reduced brewing times for Exstimulo Potions and Healing Potions, you can complete Master Notes tasks more quickly. You can also brew Potions more quickly.

With more Traces revealed by Tonic for Trace Detection, you can more quickly find Brilliant Traces, as well as the boosted Foundables. This will help you complete tasks.

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

At this point, I don’t know how many players are willing to start a game that is ending in less than 3 months. However, for relatively new players, and returning players, I still want to keep this basic advice available.

  • If you are below level 20 in Wizards Unite, you might want to use Exstimulo Potions on the Brilliant Foundables. Otherwise they will use a lot of Spell Energy to return, because they resist.
  • As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to pick up 5 Brilliant Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
  • If you are nervous about finding time to walk the Brilliant Portkeys, or are living under a lockdown, you can also earn the necessary Brilliant Fragments by completing the Bonus Assignment.
  • To find the Brilliant Vial of Felix Felicis, you must do Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Constance’s Lament Runestones. It’s easiest to do this during Quest 4 since it’s a task. To minimize your usage of Spell Energy, stick with Ruins IV-V Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Fragments you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources. If you’re low on Runestones, try Tower I-II Chambers to improve your odds of earning the required Fragments.
  • If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most long-time players have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, with many players working on their third profession already. Restricted Section Books can also be used in SOS Training and Advanced Adversarial Combat.

Adversaries Event Tasks and Rewards

The second Lethal Adversaries Event is similar to the debut Lethal Adversaries Event. Players have 2 regular sets of tasks to complete, plus a Bonus Assignment.

Keep in mind that rewards for all Wizards Unite events will be generous between now and the game’s end on January 31, 2022. As we saw with Barty Crouch Jr., players can earn a great deal of Gold just by defeating the Guards!

That said, rewards for tasks during the Dolores Umbridge Lethal Adversaries Event are reduced from the Barty Crouch Jr. Lethal Adversaries Event. So… yay.

If you are seeing plenty of Adversaries on the Map, wait until you’ve completed all other tasks before you use the Edible Dark Mark. Then it will help you with the 2nd quest.

Quest Step Reward
Use 1 Edible Dark Mark 20 Gold
Return 10 Centaur Foundables 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion
Use 6 Potions in Adversary Encounters 1 Silver Key
Return 8 Fragments from Dolores Umbridge Chains 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion

Overall rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 60 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

After your Edible Dark Mark expires, use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find Mad-Eye Moody’s Eye Traces.

Quest Step Reward
Return 6 Dolores Umbridge’s Black Quill Fragments 6 Baruffio’s Brain Elixers
Earn 1500 Challenge XP Through Wizarding Challenges and/or Adversary Chains 30 Gold
Deal 20,000 Damage to Adversaries 3 Healing Potions
Return 6 Dolores Umbridge’s Educational Decree Fragments 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions

Overall rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 60 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

Adversaries Event BONUS Tasks and Rewards

This Adversaries Event includes a Bonus Assignment! Since we do not know anything about Dolores Umbridge’s health, we don’t know how difficult these tasks will be.

Quest Step Reward
Return 6 Firenze Foundables 2 Spell Books
Return 6 Dolores Umbridge’s Feline Plate Fragments 2 Spell Books
Return 6 Dolores Umbridge’s Wand Fragments 2 Spell Books
Defeat Dolores Umbridge 3 Times 2 Spell Books

Overall rewards:

  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1000 Wizarding XP
  • 40 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

How to Prepare for the Lethal Adversaries Event

After completing the first Lethal Adversaries Event, I can offer somewhat better advice before Dolores Umbridge appears!

At this point, if you haven’t completed an entire Profession Lesson Plan, I would ignore Lethal Adversaries entirely. The Dark Mark on the Map is different for Feared Adversaries. Just battle Feared Adversaries. The Guards for Lethal Adversaries are stronger than Narcissa Malfoy, the strongest Feared Adversary.

For everyone else, work on your Advanced Adversarial Combat. I’m sitting at 14/15 nodes. With that (and a lot of Potions), I never lost a battle against Barty Crouch Jr. Even if you’re waiting to earn more Defense Against the Dark Arts Books, you can do Wizarding Challenges to earn additional Spell Books.

This SOS Training chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions. Note the inclusion of nodes to improve Tonic for Trace Detection.

Tips to Enjoy the Lethal Adversaries Event

While I still don’t know the exact math for Dolores Umbridge, I did see the strength of Barty Crouch Jr. and his Guards. Thus we know that Dolores Umbridge and her Guards will be even stronger.

If you have not progressed much with Advanced Adversarial Combat, focus on the Feared Adversaries. You can still enter Lethal Adversary Encounters, but consider backing out after the 1st Guard. Otherwise, you will need to use a lot of Potions.

If you don’t need anymore Defense Against the Dark Arts Books, and you’ve already prestiged all of your Feared Adversaries, you can focus just on Lethal Adversaries. The Dark Mark on the Map will look different between a Feared Adversary and a Lethal Adversary. While Dolores Umbridge will be featured, Barty Crouch Jr. should also appear occasionally.

Of course, if you still need specific Feared Adversaries to prestige, you can enter an Adversary Encounter to see who it is. If you still don’t need additional DADA Books, you can back out of any Adversary you’ve already green-starred on a gold frame.

How to Save on Potions

Due to the difficulty of Lethal Adversaries, you will use a lot of Potions. However, you can take a few steps to minimize how many Potions you use.

First, cast your Maxima Attack without Potions.

This is a slow way to recharge your Maxima Attack bar, but then you only extend Potions during the Maxima Attack, which does considerable Damage.

For now, we do not know the number for Dolores Umbridge and her Guards, but we do know the stats for Barty Crouch Jr. and his Guards.

  • 8 for Dangerous Azkaban Escapee
  • 10 for Vicious Death Eater
  • 10 for Peter Pettigrew
  • 12 for Barty Crouch Jr.

Most likely, these will be comparable for Dolores Umbridge and her Guards.

Avoid Getting Kicked out of a Lethal Adversary Encounter

Many players were kicked out of the Barty Crouch Jr. Adversary chain.

While we don’t know the number of charges needed to recharge the Maxima Attack bar for Dolores Umbridge and her Guards, we do know for the Barty Crouch Jr. Adversary chain. Use that as a guideline with Dolores Umbridge.

In addition, when you start battling the next Adversary in the chain, the Maxima Attack resets. It is safe to use at this point.

Adversaries Event Bundles

Like all Wizards Unite events, this Adversaries Event will feature store bundles. The free store pack includes an Edible Dark Mark! Both paid bundles are repeats from past events.

Free store pack includes:

  • 1 Dark Detector
  • 1 Edible Dark Mark
  • 2 Healing Potions
  • 1 Exstimulo Potion
  • 30 Spell Energy

The Arresto Adversary Bundle (800 Gold) includes:

  • 3 Edible Dark Marks
  • 125 Spell Energy

Is this bundle a good deal?

You can buy 5 Edible Dark Marks for 1200 Gold, making the individual value 240 Gold. Thus the value of 3 Edible Dark Marks is 720 Gold. Unless, you need discounted Spell Energy, this bundle is not good value for EDMs.

The Adversary Vanquisher Trunk (2020 Gold) includes:

  • 3 Edible Dark Marks
  • 125 Spell Energy
  • 8 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 8 Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • 8 Strong Exstimulo Potions

3 Edible Dark Marks are worth 720 Gold.

Adversaries Event Tasks and Rewards

The debut Lethal Adversaries Event differs slightly from past Adversaries Events. Players have 2 regular sets of tasks to complete, plus a Bonus Assignment.

Rewards for all Wizards Unite events will be generous between now and the game’s end on January 31, 2022.

If you are seeing plenty of Adversaries on the Map, wait until you’ve completed all other tasks before you use the Edible Dark Mark. Then it will apply to the 2nd quest.

Quest Step Reward
Use 1 Edible Dark Mark 20 Gold
Cast 3 Maxima Attacks 2 Wit-Sharpening Potions
Use 6 Potions in Adversary Encounters 1 Silver Key
Return 8 Fragments from Barty Crouch Jr. Chains 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion

Overall rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 100 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

After your Edible Dark Mark expires, use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find Mad-Eye Moody’s Eye Traces.

Quest Step Reward
Return 6 Mad-Eye Moody’s Eye Foundables 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions
Earn 1500 Challenge XP Through Wizarding Challenges and/or Adversary Chains 40 Gold
Deal 8500 Damage Using Maxima Attacks 3 Healing Potions
Defeat Barty Crouch Jr. 2 Times 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions

Overall rewards:

  • 3 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 125 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

Adversaries Event BONUS Tasks and Rewards

This Adversaries Event includes a Bonus Assignment! Since we do not know anything about Barty Crouch Jr.’s health, or how often you can cast Maxima, we don’t know how difficult these tasks will be.

Quest Step Reward
Deal 20,000 Damage to Adversaries 2 Spell Books
Cast 10 Maxima Attacks 2 Spell Books
Return 1 Barty Crouch Jr.’s Wand Fragment 2 Spell Books
Return 1 Flask of Polyjuice Potion Fragment 2 Spell Books

Overall rewards:

  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1000 Wizarding XP
  • 150 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

How to Prepare for the Lethal Adversaries Event

This is the first Lethal Adversaries Event, so we’re going in a little blind. However, I can still offer some general advice.

At this point, if you haven’t completed an entire Profession Lesson Plan, I would plan on backing out before Barty Crouch Jr. arrives. Even the Guards will be difficult, but you can manage them with Potions.

For everyone else, work on your Advanced Adversarial Combat. It’s possible the initial 10 nodes against Feared Adversaries will also apply for Lethal Adversaries. Plus, you have to unlock those nodes anyway to start working on the nodes for Lethal Adversaries.

Strengthen your Potions through SOS Training. Brew the following Potions:

  • Exstimulo Potions
  • Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • Healing Potions
  • Tonics for Trace Detection (not as critical)

Also collect extra Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions and Wit-Sharpening Potions. The brewing time will be reduced with Master Notes during the event.

Max out your Spell Energy. Right now, Spell Energy on the Map is extremely generous, so this should be easy to do.

This SOS Training chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions. Note the inclusion of nodes to improve Tonic for Trace Detection.

Tips to Enjoy the Lethal Adversaries Event

Honestly, this section is difficult to fill out, for 2 reasons. 1) Wizards Unite is ending, so even a fun event is bittersweet. 2) This is our first Lethal Adversaries Event, so I don’t know the math to break down specific advice.

If you have not progressed much with Advanced Adversarial Combat, you might want to focus on the Feared Adversaries. You can still enter Barty Crouch Jr. Encounters, but consider backing out after 1-3 Guards. Otherwise, you will need to use a lot of Potions.

If you don’t need anymore Defense Against the Dark Arts Books, and you’ve already prestiged all of your Feared Adversaries, you can focus just on Barty Crouch Jr. The Dark Mark on the Map will look different between a Feared Adversary and a Lethal Adversary.

Of course, if you still need specific Feared Adversaries to prestige, you can enter an Adversary Encounter to see who it is. If you still don’t need additional DADA Books, you can back out of any Adversary you’ve already green-starred on a gold frame.

Finally, while we don’t know the exact difficulty of Barty Crouch Jr. yet, we do know he will be a greater challenge than Narcissa Malfoy. Stack a Potent Exstimulo Potion with a Wit-Sharpening Potion immediately. Restock as necessary. Keep an eye on your health bar (this is easier with the new update since low health is indicated with red around your screen), and drink Healing Potions with abundant caution.

Adversaries Event Bundles

Like all Wizards Unite events, this Adversaries Event will feature store bundles. The free store pack includes an Edible Dark Mark! Both paid bundles are repeats from past events.

Free store pack includes:

  • 1 Dark Detector
  • 1 Edible Dark Mark
  • 2 Healing Potions
  • 1 Exstimulo Potion
  • 30 Spell Energy

The Arresto Adversary Bundle (800 Gold) includes:

  • 3 Edible Dark Marks
  • 125 Spell Energy

Is this bundle a good deal?

You can buy 5 Edible Dark Marks for 1200 Gold, making the individual value 240 Gold. Thus the value of 3 Edible Dark Marks is 720 Gold. Unless, you need discounted Spell Energy, this bundle is not good value for EDMs.

The Adversary Vanquisher Trunk (2020 Gold) includes:

  • 3 Edible Dark Marks
  • 125 Spell Energy
  • 8 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 8 Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • 8 Strong Exstimulo Potions

3 Edible Dark Marks are worth 720 Gold.

Yesterday, Lola posted in the official forum that Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will end on January 31, 2021.

Even with my NDA, I only received the news shortly before the official announcement.

The past 24 hours or so have just been gut-wrenching for me as I have attempted to process this news. I know I am not alone in my feelings. I’ve already published a video with some of my initial thoughts. I will have more videos and personal reflections here in the next 3 months as we finish this game together.

For now, let’s go over what Wizards Unite will look like in its final 3 months.

Changes in Wizards Unite

In the official forum announcement, Lola shared some changes coming to Wizards Unite. These should already be implemented.

  • All Daily Assignments will have their rewards increased
  • All Potion Brew times will be reduced by 50% with Master Notes
  • The daily cap on sending and opening Gifts will be removed
  • Barrufio’s Brain Elixir will now award 3× Wizarding XP
  • 1920s Portkey Portmanteaus will appear on the Map more frequently and associated Fragment rewards will be doubled (this is not in the game yet)
  • Spell Energy and Ingredients will appear on the Map more frequently (players have even reported Unicorn Hair on the Map!)

In addition, the game will be removed from the App Store, Google Play, and Galaxy Store on December 6, 2021, and players will no longer be able to make in-game purchases as of December 6, 2021.

Finally, update 2.19 is rolling out. Check your app store to see if it’s available for your device. This should fix Adventure Sync and the issues with Spell Energy Gifts.

Upcoming Events in Wizards Unite

We recently published the November 2021 calendar for Wizards Unite, although some of those dates are subject to change. Here are the current plans for the final 3 months of Wizards Unite.

November

  • Dolores Umbridge Lethal Adversaries Event
  • Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 1
  • Lucius Malfoy Lethal Adversaries Event
  • Half-Blood Prince Brilliant Event Part 2

December

  • Bellatrix Lethal Adversaries Event
  • Horcrux Hunt Part 2
  • Voldemort Lethal Adversaries Event
  • Deathly Hallows Brilliant Event Part 1
  • Holiday Event
  • Deathly Hallows Brilliant Event Part 2

January

Nothing has been announced yet for January. We will see what changes and events happen then.

The Future of Wizards Unite Hub

We will continue writing event guides and covering Wizards Unite news through January 31, 2021. I have to finish editing 2 strategy guides that a writer has already finished. Those will be the final general strategy guides we produce, aside from details on Lethal Adversaries.

I do not know how long Wizards Unite Hub will remain online after January 31st. Zeroghan is the website owner, so that’s up to him.

The WizHub Patreon will remain live through the end of January, at which point I will shut it down. However, I will keep our Teespring merch store up indefinitely. (I actually commissioned original designs from an artist, but I haven’t had a chance to upload them yet).

The WizHub Discord will also remain live indefinitely, as long as we have enough moderators to keep it going. We will archive some of the specific HPWU channels and create some new channels based on member feedback.

Final Thoughts

As for me personally, I honestly don’t know what I will do next. I love the Wizards Unite community, and I want to help keep it alive, even after the demise of the game. I have some ideas for other Harry Potter content to share on my Witches Unite platforms, so we’ll see how that goes.

If anyone knows of any Harry Potter websites and/or gaming websites looking for writers, editors, and/or community managers, please let me know! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my life when I no longer have a website and community to run.

How are you coping with this news? What other games should HPWU players try? What questions do you have?
