Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has added an entire new set of skill trees for players to unlock! These are called SOS Training.

Spell Mastery

The first SOS Training lesson is Spell Mastery, available to all players Levels 4 and up. Spell Mastery refers to the power of your spells cast during Encounters on the Map. The more you level up your Spell Mastery, the easier it will be to overpower Confoundables and return Foundables.

When looking at these SOS Training Lessons on your skill tree, they are teal icons showing a wand casting a spell.

General Spell Mastery

These are the SOS Training Lessons that contribute to your General Spell Mastery, along with their cost (Field Guides, Ministry Manuals, Restricted Section Books, Defense Against the Dark Arts Books).

The initial lessons don’t have any cost. They unlock when you reach the level noted in the chart.

Categorised Spell Mastery

In addition to General Spell Mastery, which applies to any Encounter, you can also invest in Spell Mastery for specific Foundable Families. While Landmarks are temporarily turned off, they should return to Wizards Unite at some point. If you regularly play in a Landmark area, then you might want to invest in Categorised Spell Mastery for that particular Foundable Family.

Categorised Spell Mastery values are additive to General Spell Mastery bonuses. So if your General Spell Mastery value is 100, and your Legends of Hogwarts Categorised Spell Mastery value is 100, then your overall Spell Mastery value is 200 when engaging with a Legends of Hogwarts Foundable on the Map.

Departure Denial

Another SOS Training lesson is Departure Denial. This helps decrease the chances that a Confoundable departs after each spellcast.

Categorised Departure Denial is an assessment of your spell-casting abilities by Foundable Family. These values impact the likelihood that the Confoundables of a particular Foundable Family depart after each cast.

Categorised Departure Denial values are additive to Departure Denial bonuses. This works the same as described above.

Departure Denial is not exactly akin to Dawdle Draught. When using a Dawdle Draught, the Foundable absolutely will not depart. However, your Departure Denial value only increases the odds of a Foundable remaining.

I will update this post once we know more about how Spell Mastery and Departure Denial work.
