Swooping Evil, Firenze, and the Sorcerer’s Stone are just some of the Severe-threat Foundables that will be boosted for this weekend’s Spotlight Event!
The first October 2021 event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will excite players of all levels. This casual Spotlight Event will feature reduced brewing times for Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, oodles of boosted Foundables, and NO tasks or rewards.
You can grind grind grind, play casually, or skip the weekend completely. It’s up to you!
Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing this information early so Wizards Unite Hub could create this event guide.
Boosted Foundables will appear on the Map AND when using a Tonic for Trace Detection.

Severe and Dark Arts Spotlight Event Guide
This Spotlight Event is more like two consecutive Spotlights Events. Unlike previous Spotlight Events, there are two sets of Foundables that will be boosted on Days 1 & 2 – OR – Days 3 & 4. Please read all the Spotlight Event details carefully so you know which Foundables you can expect to see more of on which days!

How to Prepare for the Spotlight Event
First, look at your Registry pages that feature the boosted Foundables. Which pages are you close to prestiging?
Personally, I do not need any of the boosted Foundables, but I need all the Care of Magical Creatures Runestones I can get so there can be more Baby Phoenix Fragments in my future. This will make the boosted Firenze Foundables more valuable to me.
Since we did not get a lot of notice of this event, the standard advice of stockpiling a few Potions before the Spotlight Event begins doesn’t really apply. Regardless, I’d advise you to save your Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Ingredients to brew during the Event itself, so you can make the most of the time reduction. The following potions will also be helpful during the event:
- Exstimulo Potion
- Strong Exstimulo Potion
- Potent Exstimulo Potion
- Tonic for Trace Detection
- Dawdle Draught
Personally, I plan to save my Potent Exstimulo Potions for the next Adversaries Event (or for Lethal Adversaries!). However, if you are a newer player, or you haven’t increased the efficacy of your Strong Exstimulo Potion, you might want to use a few Potent Exstimulo Potions over the weekend.
Boost your Potions by investing in SOS Training. The following nodes will help your Potions be more effective, so you get additional benefits with less resources.

How to Enjoy the Spotlight Event
Ask yourself if you want to be strategic this weekend or would you rather enjoy a casual event? There’s not a right or wrong approach!
If you’re playing casually, just check in whenever you’re able. Use your Trace Charm on any Severe Traces that meet your needs.
However, if you want a strategy for the weekend, you have multiple options.
As already mentioned, you can focus on prestiging pages. As necessary, do Wizarding Challenges to earn the required Challenge Fragments. After you prestige a page, then use your Trace Charm on the Severe Trace(s) for that page.
If you haven’t placed all of the boosted Foundables yet, save your Trace Charm for those Severe Traces! That way, you’ll get more of the Fragments you need.
If you want to earn bonus rewards from Treasure Trunks, then you’ll want to look at your Gold pages. Every time you place one of the boosted Foundables on a Gold frame, you earn 350 Family XP and 35 Ministry Manuals. That’s also 3-4 Treasure Trunks — so at least 3 opportunities to earn Spell Books, Field Charm charges, Gold Gifts, and more, depending on what you’ve unlocked in SOS Training.
Once again, use your Trace Charm strategically to earn more Fragments for your Gold pages. This will help you grind for Ministry Manuals as well as earn rewards from Treasure Trunks.
Finally, the Baruffio’s Brain Elixir bonuses will help you level up! Whenever you drink a Tonic for Trace Detection, drink a Brain Elixir too. For extra bonuses, you can visit an Inn and stack Dark Detectors. Wait until your Brain Elixir is running to open up your 20 daily Gifts as well.
