Wizards Unite beta release date is not yet publicly available, but we expect that the beta will start in the second quarter of 2018, targeting mid May or June. We created a shortlist of things we’re doing in order to prepare and increase our chances of getting an early invite to the beta.

Mind you, dear reader, we do not know when the first wave of invites will go out or which region will be the first one to get them.

Wizards Unite Beta Preparation TLDR

  • Sign up for the beta on multiple accounts from multiple regions. Use Android and iOS devices if possible.
  • Level up your Pokemon GO and Ingress accounts. Use the same e-mail address that you signed up with.
  • Read the Harry Potter book series, but also the companion books on fantastic beasts, Quidditch and wizarding bedtime stories, all written by JK Rowling.
  • Play Fantastic Beasts: Cases – a great free to play mobile game for Android and iOS.

Make sure you’ve signed up for the Wizards Unite beta

We know it may sound silly, but do not forget to actually sign up for the Wizards Unite beta invite. The registration form is available on the official website and you need a valid e-mail address!

Of course, it is recommended to sign up with multiple accounts from multiple regions and on both Android and iOS platforms. Usually, players from the Oceanic region get beta access priority.

Level up your Pokemon GO and Ingress accounts

Usually, Niantic treats experienced players with higher priority when it comes to receiving beta invites. In order to increase your chances, you want to do the following:

  • level up your Pokemon GO and Ingress account as high as possible
  • make sure you’re using the same e-mail address on both accounts and in your beta

Read the Harry Potter book series

Main series book covers, the 2014 printed edition collection

If you never read the books, this is the perfect time to start. With at least three months of waiting ahead of us, you have ample time to read through the entire series, including the companion books published outside of the main series:

  • Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them – a fantastic primer on many creatures find the main series books, written by JK Rowling. We strongly recommend reading this companion book.
  • The Tales of Beedle the Bard – a collection of bedtime stories from the Wizarding World, an all time favorite for young and old wizards alike, written by JK Rowling
  • Quidditch Through the Ages – an interesting overview of Quidditch history and spread in the Wizarding World, written by JK Rowling

Play through Fantastic Beasts: Cases

Fantastic Beasts: Cases

Fantastic Beasts: Cases is a typical “cases” game for your mobile device – you look for clues in images, solve mystery cases and progress through a wide assortment of story lines and mysteries at a shockingly slow pace.

Although we do not like the slow progression pace, the game itself is amazing, with incredibly detailed art, great music, interesting cases to solve and a really hefty amount of content.

Fantastic Beasts: Cases is a free to play mobile title published by Warner Bros and we strongly recommend it as a casual game and as a primer on the magical beasts found in the Harry Potter universe. Available on Android and iOS.
