Adversaries Guide: Gilderoy Lockhart

Wizards Unite Hub continues to partner with Plotter101 to create detailed Adversaries guides. Up next is Gilderoy Lockhart and his Guards — a Common Pixie and a Dangerous Pixie, which we can only assume were freshly caught by the man himself! Lockhart has already been featured a few times during Harry Potter: Wizards Unite events, so he’s a common sight for those who are fighting Adversaries.

Gilderoy Lockhart in Wizards Unite

Gilderoy Lockhart is the 3rd Adversary in the Challenges Registry of Feared Adversaries. Going down the list, each Adversary is more difficult. As expected, Lockhart is significantly vain in Wizards Unite, just as he is on the page and in the films, and we wouldn’t want it any other way!

On the Gilderoy Lockhart Registry page, players need to place 1 Adversary and 4 Artefacts to prestige the page. These are:

  • Gilderoy Lockhart
  • Portrait of Gilderoy Lockhart Painting a Portrait of Gilderoy Lockhart
  • Stack of Autographed Headshots
  • Magical Me
  • Gilderoy Lockhart’s Wand

To earn the Lockhart Fragments and Artefact Fragments, you need to defeat the Guards and Lockhart himself. These are:

  • Common Pixie
  • Dangerous Pixie
  • Gilderoy Lockhart

For each Guard you defeat, you earn 1 Artefact Fragment. When you defeat Gilderoy Lockhart, you earn 1 Gilderoy Lockhart Fragment and 1 Artefact Fragment.

How to Defeat Gilderoy Lockhart in Wizards Unite

To defeat any Adversary, players need a combination of Spell Energy, Potions, and time. How many of these resources you use will depend on your Profession, your Profession’s Lesson Plan, and your Profession’s Advanced Adversarial Combat. The more you complete in your skill trees, the less resources you will need to defeat Adversaries.

If you have completed more than one Profession’s Lesson Plan, you should play as a Magizoologist to defeat Gilderoy Lockhart. That said, keep in mind that the Pixies might Dodge against Aurors and Magizoologists, but not Professors.

Remember, you will not know the type of Adversary until you enter the Adversary Encounter. Once you start the Adversary Encounter, there is not a way to change your Profession. Some players have successfully used a second device to change Profession, but this can cause a glitch that kicks you out of the Adversary Encounter, so do this at your own risk.

When Gilderoy Lockhart is a boosted Adversary like during an event, you should play as an Magizoologist for the extra advantage. To reiterate, this advice is only true if you are equally strong in more than one Profession. At this point, you need to consider not just your Profession’s Lesson Plan, but also your Advanced Adversarial Combat.

Damage Dealt by Gilderoy Lockhart and Guards

When trying to defeat Gilderoy Lockhart’s Adversary chain, you will lose health points (HP) whenever the Foe hits you (at times you might be lucky to Dodge!). The chart below outlines how much stamina you will lose, depending on your Profession.

Foe Professor Magizoologist Auror >50% Auror <50%
Common Pixie 8 6 13 11
Dangerous Pixie 18 14 28 25
Gilderoy Lockhart 38 28 41 36

Resources Needed to Defeat Gilderoy Lockhart

Plotter101 put together the following chart to help players prioritize their resources when completing the Gilderoy Lockhart’s Adversary chain.

Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about Gilderoy Lockhart’s chain.

Aurors will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Common Pixie; 4 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Dangerous Pixie; 7 Spell Energy and 1 regular Exstimulo Potion OR 10 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Gilderoy Lockhart.

Magizoologists will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Common Pixie; 6 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Dangerous Pixie; 10 Spell Energy and 1 regular Exstimulo Potion OR 14 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Gilderoy Lockhart.

Professors will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Common Pixie; 4 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Dangerous Pixie; 13 Spell Energy and 1 regular Exstimulo Potion OR 16 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Gilderoy Lockhart.

These recommendations assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat. These recommendations also assume that you have completely strengthened your Potions through SOS Training. If you have not done both of these, you will use more resources.

Personally, as a Professor with all of my nodes completed, I do not use any Potions against the Guards. I can also defeat Lockhart without any Potions, but I use an Exstimulo Potion or a Wit-Sharpening Potion when I need to save on Spell Energy. As with any Adversary, have Healing Potions available in case bad RNG causes them to attack multiple times in a row.

How to Defeat Gilderoy Lockhart by Profession

These charts will again assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat, and they have strengthened their Potions. If you have not done this, you can calculate whether or not you need Potions by using this spreadsheet with data compiled by Plotter101 and his Discord. You will need to make a copy in your own Google Drive in order to update the player stats on the Summary page.

Final Thoughts on the Adversary

Like all Adversaries you encounter in Wizards Unite, you may not want to take on Gilderoy Lockhart each time you have the opportunity. Especially if you’re a newer player, or a casual player, there is nothing wrong with only collecting Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards. Then you can back out from the Adversary Encounter to save on Potions and Spell Energy. Now that all the Feared Adversaries have a chance of appearing, there may be others you’d rather devote your resources to defeating than Lockhart.

As with any Adversary, be prepared to use a Healing Potion if you fall below 40% on your HP meter. Remember that you can push the Potion button while Gilderoy Lockhart is still dealing with your spell cast. That way you will not miss the opportunity to heal yourself in case he happens to attack several times in a row.

As already stated in every single Adversaries guide, prioritize finishing one Profession’s Lesson Plan. All Professions have strengths and weaknesses, so consider your overall game strategy as a player, beyond Adversaries alone.

What do you think about Gilderoy Lockhart and his pixies? Have you been able to prestige his page yet? What other advice would you offer players of different levels?
