Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly Registry Page

As the second half of March is going to be full of Adversaries in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, Wizards Unite Hub continues to partner with Plotter101 to create detailed Adversaries guides.  Up next is the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly and its guards — a Formidable Poacher and a Vicious Mummy.

Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly in Wizards Unite

The Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly is the 8th Adversary in the Challenges Registry of Feared Adversaries. Going down the list, each Adversary is more difficult. You will remember this particular dragon from Harry, Hermione, and Ron’s visit to Gringotts in search of Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup.

On the Ironbelly’s Registry page, players need to place 1 Adversary and 4 Artefacts to prestige the page. These are:

  • Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly
  • Pile of Gringotts Gold
  • Goblin Noise Maker
  • Gigantic Chains
  • White Dragon Scale

To earn the Ironbelly Fragments and Artefact Fragments, you need to defeat the Guards and the dragon itself. These are:

  • Formidable Poacher
  • Vicious Mummy
  • Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly

For each Guard you defeat, you earn 1 Artefact Fragment. When you defeat the dragon, you earn 1 Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly Fragment and 1 Artefact Fragment.

Foe Stamina Possible Artefact Fragments

How to Defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly in Wizards Unite

To defeat any Adversary, players need a combination of Spell Energy, Potions, and time. How many of these resources you use will depend on your Profession, your Profession’s Lesson Plan, and your Profession’s Advanced Adversarial Combat. The more you complete in your skill trees, the less resources you will need to defeat Adversaries.

If you have completed more than one Profession’s Lesson Plan, you should play as an Auror to defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly. That said, you won’t know the type of Adversary until you enter the Adversary Encounter. Once you start the Adversary Encounter, there is not a way to change your Profession. Some players have successfully used a second device to change Profession, but this can cause a glitch that kicks you out of the Adversary Encounter, so do this at your own risk.

When the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly is a boosted Adversary like during an event, you should play as an Auror for the extra advantage. To reiterate, this advice is only true if you are equally strong in more than one Profession.

Resources Needed to Defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly

Plotter101 put together the following chart to help players prioritize their resources when completing the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly Adversary chain.

Resource Chart for the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly Adversary Chain.

Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly chain.

Aurors will need to use 3 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Poacher; 10 Spell Energy and potentially 1 Healing Potion to defeat the Vicious Mummy; 9 Spell Energy, 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion, AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion OR 7 Spell Energy and 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion to defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly.

Magizoologists will need to use 5 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Poacher; 13 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Vicious Mummy; 17 Spell Energy, 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion, AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion OR 13 Spell Energy and 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion to defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly.

Professors will need to use 6 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Formidable Poacher; 9 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the Vicious Mummy; 14 Spell Energy, 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions, AND 2 Wit-Sharpening Potions OR 10 Spell Energy and 2 Potent Exstimulo Potions to defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly. Fewer Potions could be used against the dragon, but you will need to sacrifice Spell Energy or Healing Potions to do so.

These recommendations assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat. If you have not done this, you will use more resources.

Personally, as a Professor with 11/15 nodes completed, I don’t use any Potions against the 1st Guard. I use 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion against the 2nd Guard to save on Spell Energy. I use 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion and 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion OR 1 Potent Exstimulo against the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly, with Healing Potions available in case of bad RNG.

How to Defeat the Vicious Mummy by Profession

Before we can battle the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly, we need to deal with the Vicious Mummy who appears as the Second Guard in the dragon’s Adversary Chain.

Plotter101 put together this chart to show the different combinations of resources (Spell Energy, Potions, and time) necessary to defeat the Vicious Mummy.

Final Thoughts on the Adversary

Like all dragons you encounter in Wizards Unite, the fact that they fly means they can be tricky to engage with. You may not want to take the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly on each time you have the opportunity. Especially if you’re a newer player, or a casual player, you can start collecting Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards. Then you can back out from the Adversary Encounter to save on Potions and Spell Energy.

Be prepared to use more Healing Potions than you might with other Adversaries too. If you have fallen below 40% on you HP meter, it is good to know that you can push the Potion button while the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly is still dealing with your spell cast. That way you won’t miss the opportunity to heal yourself in case they breathe fire several times in a row.

As already stated in every single Adversaries guide, prioritize finishing one Profession’s Lesson Plan. All Professions have strengths and weaknesses, so consider your overall game strategy as a player, beyond Adversaries alone.

What do you think about the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly? What other advice would you offer players of different levels?
