I have watched videos that show them somehow placing the portkey on the floor, but I can’t figure out how to place it myself, it just has a hand pointing up my screen with a blue line going across the screen. Please can someone help me?
Has anyone worked out this problem all I have is a blue line and a hand pointing down?
I’m slightly confused as my daughters Motorola used to open portkeys but since an update has stopped opening them. Like everyone above she gets the blue line. Have tried everything. Do think this needs sorting asap as frustrating you can only do parts of the game.
I get the same thing – just a blue line and a hand pointing downwards but I can’t find the boot, no matter how I move the screen. Samsung Galaxy A10 and Android 9… very frustrating 🙁

I tried rebooting, staying paralel to the floor and what have you… nothing works. I have a *drum roll* Moto G4! There’s obviously a compatibility issue with motorollas, we need to wait for WU to fix… :'(
Found it critical to keep the phone parallel to ground at about heart height when placing the boot, and keeping the phone parallel to the ground when stepping in to the portal.
Rebooting fixes my issues when the boot won’t place, or the boot is tiny (opens underground).
Darkness also seems to be a factor.
I have the same issue as well. The boot is not visible. Only the hand with one finger pointed upward. Even if I try to resize the app, still nothing.
Anybody found a solution yet?
I’ve been frustrated for days by this too. Someone on Reddit suggested REBOOT PHONE. Solution seemed too simple but it WORKED!!! I’m using Android phone. Hope this works for you too. And thanks to helpful person on Reddit ( I’ve lost the link to their post now).
also same problem and also on Moto g4 I’ve tried all suggestions and no boot appears so cannot place it !

REPEATING FRUSTRATION.. I’ve unlocked 8 portkeys, I get sounds on some, however visually I only get a static pointing hand and a static blue line. The game has been enjoyable except for the major frustration issues with using the AR / AR+ (have to use the slider to shut off the AR in traces & challenges as that only shows a hand between two sets of static stars and the foundable – no trace or words) and also the tiny monetary awards, but that’s for another thread. I’ve checked my settings, I’ve checked ARCore, I’ve deleted my cache, I’ve looked for clues in resolution videos re the AR problems Pokemon Go has had, I’ve reported this issue in game, I’ve mentioned it in my review – do I need to take all the stars away to get an answer? Or even for this to be included in the post of ‘Known Issues’?! We can’t move a boot to the floor – we have no boot image or anything else moveable! Please both acknowledge that there is an issue and FIX IT so that we can get access to the special items only found within the portals – I don’t care if it’s even an AR solution since the game has played well in other aspects without it Using a Pixel 2XL.
So my problem is that I see the blue outline, and the portkey (boot) on the floor. But I have insane lag with it which does not let me click the key. I managed once and the portal opened to Hagrid’s hut, I saw the collectibles glowing but was unable to pick them as it did not recognize my tapping. No matter how many times I tapped on different collectible locations, nothing worked. I am using Nokia 6 the 1st issue of them from 2018. Would love to enjoy the game with no lag in portkeys.
I was having the same issue with the blue line and the white pointed finger hand at the bottom. I quickly figure it out. While in the settings my AR + was turned off, when I turned it back on and went back to the Portkey. The Portkey boot appeared on the floor just near the blue line. If your phone does not support AR + you cannot do the portkeys. The non AR + mode is not working.
If you have AR + make sure it is up to date in your phone settings then make sure it is active in Wizard unite settings.
What u all need to do is place it on the floor in front of u. Then look for the blue marker. Stand on it. U will go through the portkey
