I have 6 portkeys ready to unlock – should I save them to open once the new Brilliant Event starts tomorrow? They are all 7km ones. Or do I need to pick up new ones once the event starts to get the drops and clear the objectives?

Ready to unlock, as in you walked enough to open them? If so, go ahead and open them (and use that baruffio elixir!). I believe the goals for this week include picking up and unlocking portkeys. So anything that was already unlocked will not count towards your progress for those goals. If you have already unlocked any of the brilliant portkeys, they might give you some of the foundables for this event, now that it has started.
