Get excited witches and wizards! A brand-new Harry Potter mobile game is in the works.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened will be an RPG card game set at Hogwarts, a few years after the Second Wizarding World War.
Players can learn new spells, get to know more outstanding companions, and use their magic knowledge to design unique strategies and spell combinations.
For now, details are pretty scant. This entire article is primarily based on information in the official press release by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Netease that came out earlier today. I’m also depending on Google Translate.
Here’s what we know for now.
Netease is China’s leading Internet technology company. The official press release is in Chinese, and the official website is also in Chinese. Right now, pre-registration for the game is only available for iOS and Android devices in China.
There’s no release date yet, nor do we know which other countries will be able to pre-register for Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.
Daniel Ahmad, a gaming analyst who covers mobile games in China, shared some promotional materials on Twitter.
Here are some additional promotional materials for the game.

One of the images clearly shows cards along the bottom, hinting at the card game style of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.
Some of you might remember the leaked Harry Potter RPG from last year. Warner Bros. swiftly removed all leaked video footage, but they never made a statement about it.
A BBC journalist at the time said this game had the working title of Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.
Am told this is from a yet to be announced RPG currently titled Harry Potter Magic Awakened, although other titles including Magic Forever are also in the mix. However, it seems that these are not the same game. One of the problems with leaks and undisclosed sources is the high possibility of errors. It’s possible that Lizo Mzimba’s source conflated two different Harry Potter games under development last year.
The leaked RPG is presumably still in development. Shoutout to Mark Zealman for putting together these images side-by-side, including a screenshot of Ahmad confirming the new game is not the same as last year’s leaked game.
Magic Awakened is NOT the game leaked last year.
The artwork is cartoon style, leaked game was 3d.
In the leaked game you had been at Hogwarts a few years already.
Daniel Ahmad, a mobile gaming analyst in China confirmed it is not.

While we primarily cover Harry Potter: Wizards Unite on this website, we do occasionally discuss other related mobile games, like Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. We will add Harry Potter: Magic Awakened to the games we cover.
Stay tuned for more information!
