Developers and publishers

Due to the ever popular Harry Potter: Wizards Unite mobile game that we already know about and love from Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, under the Portkey Games label, we already know two out of the three companies involved in Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells.

That said, who are these new kids on the block calling themselves Zynga Inc? Before we take a look into the game details, let’s do a quick rundown on Zynga Inc.

Zynga aren’t actually new kids on the block. They are a global leader in interactive entertainment with a mission to connect the world through games. Sounds great, right?

To date, more than one billion people have played Zynga’s franchises, including:

  • CSR Racing
  • Empires & Puzzles
  • Merge Dragons!
  • the ever popular Words With Friends
  • Zynga Poker.

Those are some very impressive numbers, and rightfully so. Zynga’s games are available in more than 150 countries and are playable across social platforms and mobile devices worldwide. Founded in 2007, the company main headquarters are located in the heart of the Bay Area, San Francisco, California with other studios in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, India, Turkey and Finland.

Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells

Now that we know what Zynga is all about and what type of games they make and master, let’s dive in to what we know about Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells!

Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells will be playable by witches and wizards of all ages, across the world! That’s exciting, and great news for everyone! Here’s what Zynga’s President of Publishing, Bernard Kim has to say.

“We are incredibly proud to bring Harry Potter to Zynga’s portfolio and are dedicated to creating a game that’s worthy of the Wizarding World and its legions of fans. By combining the ubiquity of mobile and the expertise of Zynga’s development team in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, we are crafting a game that will delight fans of all ages around the globe.”

Inside the game itself

Inside the game, you will be able to create your own persona and be able to experience the excitement and joys of the Wizarding World in an ‘enchanting’ new way. You will be able to unlock some Wizarding World elements, including new spells as well as potion making. As you progress further, you will encounter the most iconic moments and memorable faces from the original Harry Potter films. Utilizing magical abilities and objects to overcome obstacles, you will have to complete matching puzzles populated with Chocolate Frogs and other obstacles as you “swish and flick” your way through all of the magical levels.

To showcase your magical skill level, you will earn experience points as you progress in the game. From Daily Events to interactive puzzles, you will earn XP to gain new magical abilities and rewards and to level up your skills and spells, as well as to customize your own unique, in-game personas as I have mentioned above. You will also have the option to form clubs and join forces with other fans to socialize, participate in special in-game cooperative activities, and experience the heart and soul of the Wizarding World.

Global launch and platform details

Zynga has announced that Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells will launch worldwide for iOS and Android devices, as well as Amazon Kindle and Facebook Games (Similar to Words with Friends on Facebook). At this time, no release date has been confirmed yet for global release. However, Zynga is soft launching the game in select markets currently, so one might think global release might just be a couple of Quidditch games away!
