Play from Home! April Events in Wizards Unite

7

Real talk here, witches and wizards. March was a rough month for all of us, not just as players of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, but as human beings.

I never thought I would need to write an article about staying healthy and safe while playing Wizards Unite… But last month, I did.

I never thought Niantic games, which encourage exploration, would need to be reworked to be playable completely from home. But right now, that’s the world in which we live.

I know Magical Mischief was a bit of a letdown, but the HPWU team has (hopefully) learned from their mistakes in designing all new events for April! After, there is a difference between changing events at the last-minute to accommodate a pandemic and creating brand-new events with a pandemic in mind.

As always, I’ve also covered April’s Wizards Unite events on my YouTube channel!

Otherwise, keep reading for a brief overview of everything happening in Wizards Unite this month!

April 2020 Wizards Unite Calendar

As expected, Wizards Unite will have another two-week Brilliant Event in April, as well as the first 24-hour Community Day. In addition, the month will end with a special event featuring a new Oddity!

I have already seen the tasks for the first Brilliant Event, and I can confirm that they are all doable from home.

Burrow Besieged Brilliant Event Part 1: April 7 – April 14

When April 7, 11am PT to April 14, 11am PT
Features Help return Brilliant Weasley Foundables including Ron Weasley and Fred and George Weasley’s infamous Decoy Detonators.

Full guide to Burrow Besieged Week 1.

Features Put your Magizoology skills to the test and help return the Murtlap and other Magizoology Foundables.

Full guide to Burrow Besieged Week 2.

Nature and Nifflers Event: April 28 – April 29

When April 28, 2pm PT to April 29, 2pm local time
Features Free Magizoology Foundables from the clutches of a new dastardly Oddity, the Poacher!

Full guide to Nature and Nifflers Event, with the time changed so that there’s NO overlap with the Brilliant Event!

What are your thoughts on the upcoming events? Are you excited for a 24-hour Community Day, completely playable from home?

Personally, I’m excited to progress with my Magizoology pages. I just need 15 more full-sized Nifflers to complete my gold frame of Newt’s Case. I also need 6 Picketts and 11 Murtlaps to prestige Central Park for the first time, so I’m hoping those will be reasonably easy to collect on Community Day.

I’m always interested to hear your thoughts! Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms.

We can’t respond to everyone individually, but we do our best to read every blog comment, Facebook comment and message, and tweet. Discord has too many simultaneous conversations for me to follow all of them, but I do read all of the feedback channels in their entirety.

Has there been any thought of expanding the radius to be close enough to inns, greenhouses, and fortresses? While getting out and walking is a good idea, it would be nice to have a chance to finish the daily challenges from home, too. Thanks to the developers for their hard work. Mindsets of everything have been turned on their heads – we’re all rethinking everything we do!!

Was Magical Mischief really a disappointment? I loved it! The opportunity to farm specific rarer Foundables from the early pages was great, and the Marauders are my favourites, anyway…

I love that we can make Tonic for Trace so easily and there are so many traces showing up on the map. However, sometimes they disappear quickly or I need an exstimulo potion. I usually can’t sit around a greenhouse for an hour or more, so it would be nice if more if the other ingredients showed up, like snowdrop. I have to use my gold for snowdrop and I’m not getting my daily gold anymore because I’m staying home as much as possible. Just a thought!!

All great suggestions! The only one I’d like to add is I’d like to get a gift every time I’m able to visit an Inn or Greenhouse, instead of randomly.

Unfortunately, Five 1.5KM portkeys are still too much for some people who are not able to go out of their homes 🙁

Is it possible to add some more green houses, diners and towers? They are quite sparse around here.
