Guide to the Wizards Unite In-Game Store

Wizards Unite Shop

When you play Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, you will earn some coins as rewards for completing certain tasks. There are many ways in the game to spend these coins, so let’s go through our options and see what is most worthwhile.

This guide will give you some advice on spending coins in Wizards Unite:

  • what might be worth spending your money on
  • the best and worst deals in the store are
  • why you should never, ever spend money on potions in Diagon Alley, no matter what

Brief Overview of Diagon Alley

Diagon Alley is the name of the in-game store for Wizards Unite. There are four sections to Diagon Alley. First is Featured, where you will find any sales that might be going on, as well as what the game advertises as “the best deals to get the most for your Gold.” Keep an eye on this section for limited-time offers!

Next is Wiseacres, where you find “the tools of the trade,” which translates to Silver Keys, Dark Detectors, Runestones and Energy. This is a nice place to browse.

After that comes Slug & Jiggers, where you will find Potions and ways to expand your storage. This section might be better off ignored, as I will explain later.

Lastly, there is Gringotts, where you can exchange your muggle money for the “Goblin-made gold” that is the in-game currency.

Expanding your storage

One of the most tempting ways to spend your coins might be to expand your storage. It doesn’t take a lot of time playing to realize that your Ingredients storage starts out quite small for the amount of ingredients that are lying about on your map. If you choose to remedy this by brewing potions, your potion storage also fills up rapidly.

You might also have a desire to stock up on more Spell Energy than the game will initially let you, especially if you are going to be playing where there aren’t many inns to replenish your energy. And, of course, unless you live near a great many greenhouses, you will pick up far more seeds and water than you will ever be able to plant.

In the Featured section of Diagon Alley, you will find a Vault Extension offer, that lets you expand your Spell Energy, Ingredient, and Potion Capacity for 475 coins. This is a good offer, if you need to expand all three of these. It is not a great deal, as the price for these expansions individually would only come out to 500 coins. 25 coins saved is still 25 coins saved, though, so if you do, indeed, need to expand all three of these vaults, this is still an offer to consider.

The Featured section of the shop is also where you will find special offers like these when they are available.

When it comes to expanding your Seeds and Water Capacity, the only way to do it is to spend 150 coins on 5 extra spaces. You can find this option in the Slug & Jiggers part of the store. Only you can decide if that is a good place to put your coins.

Before you do spend this money, consider how much seed and water you actually need. Do you have many greenhouses around you? Do you use them often? Are there seeds you pick up that you don’t need to plant because the ingredients themselves are readily available in your area?

If you don’t need to pick up most of the seeds and water you see on the ground, you might as well hold off on increasing that particular part of your vault.

Useful items

Silver Keys, used to open Portkey Portmanteaus, and Dark Detectors, which can be placed on inns to cause more traces to show up for 30 minutes, are two of the most useful things to buy in Wizards Unite. They will be given to you as rewards for certain assignments and for leveling up, but that is a slow way to gather them. And since the part of your vault where you keep these things is limitless, you might as well stock up on them.

That is, if you want to. I’m not telling you how to live your life!

You can buy these items one by one, or in bundles. The Silver Keys come in bundles of four, which you can find both under Featured and Wiseacres, whereas Dark Detectors come in bundles of three or fifteen. The larger bundle can only be found under Featured. If you want to purchase these items, the advice is fairly straightforward. The larger bundles give more value for your coins, so if you want these items and can afford the larger bundles, go ahead and purchase them.

Another useful item you can find in the store, under Wiseacres, is the bag of Runestones. If you have run out of Runestones, but need to do a Fortress Battle, this bag gives you 10 new Fortress Battles for only 40 coins. This is a particularly good value in regards to gaining XP since low-level Fortress Battles with a Brain Elixir potion will help you grind XP.

Check out our guide on gaining XP quickly via Fortress battles!

In Wiseacres, you can also buy 50 Spell Energy for 100 coins, which is not a bad investment if you are in an area with low inn density, and need to top up your energy.

Wiseacres is worth checking out.

These are all useful items, that may or may not be valuable to you depending on how you play the game. Now, let’s talk about the not so useful deals that Diagon Alley has to offer.

Potions

Under Slug & Jiggers, you have the option to buy potions. They offer Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, Healing Potion, and all three varieties of Exstimulo Potion, as well as two crates with different mixes of these potions.

My sincere advice is this:

Don’t bother.

Buying potions in Diagon Alley is rarely, if ever, the best option you have. As long as you have the ingredients, brewing potions is, in fact, the far better option, even if you don’t have time to wait the 2-12 hours they would take to finish.

When you brew a potion, you will be given an option to pay some coins to have it be finished immediately instead of having to wait. If you use the Master Notes before paying, it will get a little bit cheaper. The prices are as follows:

Potion Coins (no MN) Coins (with MN) Compared to cheapest price in store:
Healing PotionHealing Potion icon in Wizards Unite 12 11 Less than half of buying individually.
Exstimulo PotionExstimulo Weak Wizards Unite icon 12 11 Less than half of buying individually.
Strong Exstimulo Potion

Potent Exstimulo Potion

Baruffio’s Brain Elixir

Wizards Unite Baruffios Brain Elixir

72 62 Slightly more than buying in Potion Variety Crate.
Invigoration Draught

Dawdle DraughtDawdle Draught Wizards Unite icon 36 31 Can’t be bought in the store.

36 31 Can’t be bought in the store.
Wit-Sharpening Potion

Bear in mind that while Baruffio’s Brain Elixir is cheaper in the Potion Variety Crate, the money you save on the other potions by brewing instead of buying that crate more than makes up for it. In fact, if you brew the contents of the Potion Variety Crate instead of buying it, it comes out to 456 coins spent, instead of 725.

With this in mind, I would scroll down in the section of Slug & Jiggers, and maybe buy some more storage space instead.

The Contents of Diagon Alley

For easy reference, here are some tables for you. Each section of Diagon Alley (except Gringotts) has its own table, where you can see what you can buy, what it costs, and what the value of the items would be if purchased separately. I have also added in some comments on the best and worst deals.

Gringotts

At Gringotts you can exchange your Muggle money for Goblin-made gold. No table for this, as it is straightforward enough. There are bundles of 80, 425, 900, 2100, 5400 and 12000 coins, priced in your local currency. The general rule here is that if you can afford (and are willing to pay for) the largest bundle of coins, that will be cheaper per coin than the smaller bundles.

Conclusions on the Wizards Unite In-Game Store

The main points that you should take away from this guide is this:

  • The bigger the bundle, the better the price.
  • Potions are better (or at least cheaper) brewed than bought.

Finally, keep an eye out for special offers. Our editor-in-chief crunched some numbers on a previous deal before purchasing it for herself. If you have the muggle money to spare, these limited-time offers are usually the best deal available.

regarding potions: on top of the Master Notes, you can get a further 10% time / gold discount by renting the Golden Cauldron for 15g. You can complete the as many potions immediately as you like, and queue up a Baruffio or Potent Exstimulo for the final slot–there’s little reason to ever rent the cauldron for more than 3 hours at a time.
