The next Brilliant Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be An Imperfect Love Week 1. This guide will explain how to complete the Brilliant Event quickly, possibly within the first few days.
I’ve made three assumptions about readers of this guide. 1) You are willing to spend Gold to complete tasks quickly. 2) You have access to POIs in the game. 3) Speed is your primary goal.
You can also refer back to the typical Brilliant Event guide, with general advice for completing tasks without spending Gold.
Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, you will need to visit the full guide for An Imperfect Love for all of the tasks and rewards. This post includes infographics by Orange Wizard for quick reference, but the alt text does not break down all of the tasks and rewards.
Edit: I’ve made a few changes based on feedback from Facebook and Plotter 101.
An Imperfect Love SPEED RUN
What resources do you need before the Brilliant Event begins?
What actions should you take in the game to complete the Brilliant Event quickly?
This guide will answer those questions.
First, for a quick reference to the tasks, take a look at Orange Wizard’s infographics.
Keep in mind that in addition to the Brilliant Foundables, 4 Legends of Hogwarts Foundables will also be boosted on the map.
- Young Hermione Granger
- Young Ron Weasley
- Angelina Johnson
- George Weasley
How to Prepare for An Imperfect Love
The Adversaries Event ends 24 hours before the Brilliant Event begins. If you are grinding the Adversaries Event, you will need to consolidate your prep work into that 24 hours.
Not all players will be able to do everything on this list. However, the more you do, the easier it will be to finish An Imperfect Love quickly. Note that these recommendations are based on prioritizing speed, both for prep and for the event itself.
- Max out your Spell Energy
- Max out your Trace Charms
- Stockpile 7-10 Tonics for Trace Detection
- Stockpile 4 Healing Potions and/or Exstimulo Potions
- Stockpile 2 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
- Stockpile 20 Gifts that give high Wizarding XP
- Unlock certain SOS Training nodes
- Brew 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and 4 other Potions, without collecting them
To improve your Brilliant Event speed run, you want to decrease the brewing time for Potions and increase the effects of Potions. Unlock as many of these nodes as possible.

The event tasks require players to brew a total of 9 Potions. You want these to be ready to collect as quickly as possible.
Your exact brewing time per Potion depends on what you unlock in SOS Training. Generally speaking, start your Potion brewing at least 9 hours before the Brilliant Event begins.
Rent a 3-hour Gold Cauldron. Depending on your brewing time for Exstimulo Potions and Healing Potions, you can brew 1-2 of these Potions first. Pay attention to the time so you can queue up 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir before the time runs out. Use Master Notes, but wait until the event begins to collect it.
Queue up 4 Potions in the regular Cauldron, a mix of Exstimulo Potions and/or Healing Potions. Use Master Notes on the first one. Do not collect any of these Potions until you reach the 4th set of tasks.
How to Complete An Imperfect Love Quickly
Plan out your schedule so that you are somewhere with a good Trace density when the Brilliant Event begins. It’s better if you’re near at least one Inn. Remember to avoid visiting the Brilliant Registry page until the 3rd set of tasks. The easiest way to do this is to stop returning Brilliant Foundables after you reach 19.
Tap through the dialogue. Visit the Assignments page. Some players experience bugs if they do event tasks without seeing the tasks first.
If you want, use regular Exstimulo Potions on Brilliant Foundables to return them more quickly.
An Imperfect Love Quest 1
Collect the Baruffio’s Brain Elixir first. Then rent an 8-hour Cauldron and queue up a mix of Exstimulo Potions and/or Healing Potions. Use Master Notes on the first one. Do not collect any of these Potions until you reach the 4th set of tasks.
Use 1-2 Tonics for Trace Detection to return all of the required Brilliant Quidditch Keeper Ron Foundables.
Finish the first set of tasks, and begin the second set.
An Imperfect Love Quest 2
Use 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, 1-2 Tonics for Trace Detection, and 3 Dark Detectors on 1 Inn. Prioritize any Traces with red beams (Severe and Emergency) as well as Brilliant Traces. Use your Trace Charm on 1-2 of these Traces that align with your other game goals. You will quickly earn the 7000 Wizarding XP from Traces while returning the required Brilliant Foundables.
You might need to return more than 12 Brilliant Quidditch Fan Hermione Foundables in order to do the 15 Great spell casts.
Finish the second set of tasks, and begin the third set.
An Imperfect Love Quest 3
Visit the An Imperfect Love Registry page. Collect the Brilliant Runestones. If you have returned 19 each of Brilliant Quidditch Fan Hermione and Brilliant Quidditch Keeper Ron, you should collect 4 Brilliant Runestones.
If your Baruffio’s Brain Elixir has run out, start a new one. If your Tonic for Trace Detection has run out, start a new one.
Return all Brilliant Foundables and all Angelina Johnson Foundables. The former will help you collect the necessary Brilliant Family XP to earn the 5th Runestone. The latter is a task. Go ahead and place the Brilliant Images in your Registry.
Keep in mind that the Angelina Johnson Trace will have a yellow beam. Young Ron Weasley will also have a yellow beam. You might find it easier to return those Foundables as well, just to keep track of the Traces on your Map.
Whenever the Map is clear of required Foundables, do Wizarding Challenges. If you’re playing with a group, do Dark 5. If you’re not playing with a group, stick with the Chamber you’re most comfortable soloing. Use Potions as needed to complete the Wizarding Challenges more quickly.
After every 1-3 Wizarding Challenges (depending on how high you go), return to the Map and look for the necessary Foundables.
After about 15 minutes on this set of tasks, check your Brilliant Registry. There’s a good chance you will rank up again and collect the 5th Runestone. After you do this, continue to return Brilliant Foundables until you once again have 19 of each. Then stop until the Bonus Assignment.
Returning 8 Angelina Johnson Foundables will be the slow part of this set of tasks. It will also be the part most dependent upon luck. If you can, move around between each Wizarding Challenge to find more Legends of Hogwarts Traces.
As necessary, renew your Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and your Tonic for Trace Detection.
Finish the third set of tasks, and begin the fourth set.
An Imperfect Love Quest 4
Go to both of your Cauldrons. Collect all of the Potions that are ready. In your regular Cauldron, start another Exstimulo or Healing Potion, and queue up one more. Most likely, some Potions in the Gold Cauldron will not be done yet. Do Master Notes. Note the time remaining. Set an alarm if it’s short. Wait to collect.
Do Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones. Stick with Ruins V to Tower II. You need to collect 3 Brilliant Lavender Brown Fragments AND defeat 15 Formidable Foes. After you have finished the former, do not place the Image in your Registry. Also, you can switch to any Runestone at this point.
Go back to your Cauldron when the Potion is ready. Collect it. Do Master Notes on the next Potion.
Finish defeating the 15 Formidable Foes.
Use Gold to collect any remaining Potions immediately. Compare the costs between the Potions in your regular Cauldron and in your Gold Cauldron. Choose accordingly.
After you finish the fourth set of tasks, you will receive a Brilliant Cormac McClaggen Image for your Registry. Most likely the game will take you to your Registry page. Do not place him!
An Imperfect Love Bonus Assignment
Once you have the in-game notification of the Bonus Assignment, you can visit your Brilliant Registry again. Place any Images that are ready. As necessary, use Brilliant Runestones and return Brilliant Foundables during the other recommended steps until you place 5 Images in your Registry.
Use another Baruffio’s Brain Elixir. Open up to 20 Gifts, prioritizing Gifts that give a high amount of Wizarding XP.
From there, decide if you want to work on using Potions in Wizarding Challenges or casting Masterful spells. The order doesn’t really matter. Adjust the next steps accordingly.
Try to play with a group to do Wizarding Challenges. Prioritize the Dark Chambers. Be generous with Potions until you’ve used the required 12. Remember, these can be any Potions, as long as you start them in the Wizarding Challenge. Based on brewing time, I already recommended you brew 12 Exstimulo and/or Healing Potions–4 in advance, and 8 to complete tasks.
You might earn the 12,500 Wizarding XP just from Gifts and Wizarding Challenges.
If you still need Wizarding XP, use a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir as well as a Tonic for Trace Detection. Stack 3 Dark Detectors on an Inn. Once again, prioritize any Traces with red beams (Severe and Emergency) as well as Legends of Hogwarts Traces. Use your Trace Charm on 2-3 of these Traces that align with your other game goals.
If you don’t need Wizarding XP, just use the Tonic for Trace Detection and walk around as much as you can. Return all Legends of Hogwarts Foundables.
You will most likely need at least 2 Tonics for Trace Detection to return 25 Legends of Hogwarts Foundables.
If you’re having trouble with the Masterful spell-casting, check every Brilliant Trace. Brilliant Quidditch Fan Hermione is returned by Aguamenti, a fairly easy spell to cast.
This Brilliant Event Speed Run guide was a reader request! Please share any additional tips you might have in the comments. Personally, I don’t worry about speeding through Brilliant Events, nor do I spend Gold for events, so I had to think outside myself to write this guide.
ALSO if you’re looking for a group to coordinate Wizarding Challenges on the Knight Bus, XpectoGO usually does a Wednesday livestream for Fortresses, and I do a Thursday livestream. The following Discords also include Knight Bus coordination.
I’m always interested to hear your thoughts! Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms. The first-ever Wizards Unite HUB (fan website) reader survey is still open if you want to share your feedback.
Wizards Unite Hub is a fan website and community that is mostly volunteer-run. I would love to implement all of the suggestions from the reader survey, but our team simply does not have enough people or free time to do it all. If you’re a frequent reader, then you’ll notice that I (Brita) write about half of the articles myself, and I edit everything else.. I also single-handedly run the Twitter account and the Facebook account. I’m already stretched thin, so I need help if y’all want to see more here on Wizards Unite Hub!
If you would like to see more guides and tools on Wizards Unite Hub, there are multiple ways you can help. First, you can apply to be a writer. Feel free to list any technical skills you have if you’re more interested in developing website tools. You can also join the Wizards Unite Hub Patreon or buy some of our merch!
