Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is trying out a new feature for the May 2021 Community Day! This Harry Potter Community Day will primarily focus on the Registry page Hogwarts Quidditch Stands, but event details are a little different than recent Community Day events.
A quick heads-up: Wizards Unite Community Day will be a SUNDAY this month.
Spoiler alert: Earning Family XP is back as a task. Don’t worry, I’ll break down the math for you!
Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing Wizards Unite Hub with early information so we can create Wizards Unite guides.

Quidditch Captain Badges
The upcoming Wizards Unite Community Day introduces a new feature: Quidditch Captain Badges. Tasks include collecting these… But how do you earn them?
First, you will need to collect both Gryffindor Quidditch Captain Badges AND Slytherin Quidditch Captain Badges. (Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs patiently wait for our day to shine).
You can earn Gryffindor Quidditch Captain Badges by returning Gryffindor Quidditch Foundables.
You can earn Slytherin Quidditch Captain Badges by returning Slytherin Quidditch Foundables. In addition, if you win a Wizarding Challenge in Forest Chamber IV or above, you will also earn a guaranteed Slytherin Quidditch Captain Badges.
Quidditch Captain Badges are similar to Mysterious Note Pieces during Brilliant Events. They are a random drop from certain boosted Foundables.
May 2021 Community Day Tasks
Like all recent Community Day events, this event includes a special set of tasks and rewards. These tasks should be incredibly doable, especially considering you have a FULL day to get them all done.
If you already have your Magical Games & Sports pages maxed out, you might want to skip Community Day if you need a break from Wizards Unite. However, boosted Foundables include Quidditch Captain Harry Potter and Quidditch Keeper Ron. Returning them multiple times can help you level up in Magical Games & Sports, which can help you Field Charm charges and Gold Gifts (if you’ve unlocked Preferred Client).

Preparing for Wizards Unite Community Day
May’s Community Day is extremely similar to recent Wizards Unite Community Days, just focused on a different Foundable Family, with the addition of Quidditch Captain Badges.
Players have incentives to return Foundables AND to complete Wizarding Challenges AND to unlock Portkeys! This makes the event customizable to your personal goals. Here are a few tips to prepare over the next few days.
To help you determine your own goals, look at Hogwarts Quidditch Stands and Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch II in the Magical Games and Sports Registry. This will give you an idea of the Fragments you need to place Images and to prestige your pages. Keep in mind that while everything from Hogwarts Quidditch Stands is boosted, ONLY the Slytherins on Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch II are boosted.
Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. These will contain Gryffindor Quidditch Banner Fragments, so you want to collect as many as you can!
If you can safely and legally walk around a park or your neighborhood, that’s a great option to unlock Portkeys.
Stock up on Ingredients for Tonic for Trace Detection! With the reduced brewing time, this is an opportunity to rebuild your Potions supplies.
These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection.
|Baneberry||Bulbadox Juice||Angel’s Trumpet||Erumpent Horn|
While these Ingredients are still boosted under the “play at home” changes, I’m aware that many players don’t have any Ingredients at home.
If you can safely stop somewhere with a lot of Wizards Unite activity, do so on the way to the grocery store on your next trip.
We’re still a pandemic, y’all, so be careful.
You can also ask your friends to send you Ingredient Gifts and Tonic for Trace Detection Gifts.
To maximize your Tonic benefits, consider unlocking a few helpful nodes in your SOS Training. Each of these will allow your Tonic to reveal additional Traces.
- Stir Crazy (I,7)
- Concentrated Concoction (II,25)
- Trained For This (III,38)
You will also want a few Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs. With boosted Severe and Emergency Foundables, this is a great opportunity to grind Wizarding XP!
These are the Ingredients you need for Brain Elixir.
|Leaping Toadstool||Frog Brain ||Runespoor Eggs ||Powdered Dragon Claw |
To maximize your Brain Elixir benefits, consider unlocking a few helpful nodes in your SOS Training.
These SOS Training Lessons improve Brain Elixir potency, meaning you earn even more Wizarding XP.
- Start a Movement (I,6)
- Sous Vide (I,10)
- Clear Your Mind (II,17)
These SOS Training Lessons lengthen the Potion duration. Each of these adds 5 additional minutes.
- A Wing and a Flare (I,7)
- Temp Work (II,19)
- Bottoms Up (II,22)
You should also consider brewing some Dawdle Draught. Quidditch Captain Harry Potter and Quidditch Keeper Ron are both Emergency-threat Foundables, so you might want a few Dawdle Draughts on hand to return them!
These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.
|Valerian Root||Sopophorous Bean||Butterscotch||Hermit Crab Shell|
Finally, try to stock up on Exstimulo Potions. These will also be handy for Quidditch Captain Harry Potter and Quidditch Keeper Ron. I realize this will be a challenge, since most of us will use up our stock during the Adversaries Event.
This quick chart shows which Ingredients you need for the entire Exstimulo family.
|Shared between all Exstimulo Potions||Bitter Root
|Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Granian Hair|
|Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Abraxan Hair|
|Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Unicorn Hair|
If you still need Gryffindor Quidditch Banner and/or Slytherin Quidditch Banner Fragments, do Wizarding Challenges with a Magical Games and Sports Runestone. While you will have the ability to earn these on Community Day, it will be easier to prestige Hogwarts Quidditch Stands (and Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch II) if you work on the Challenge-exclusive Fragments in advance.
Repeat Image Collection
Return any Magical Games and Sports Foundables you see on the Map. If any of these Images are ready to place in your Registry, STOP. Wait until the event begins. Then you can place the Image to quickly complete that task.
Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch II
If you want to prestige this page on Community Day, you will need to track down Quidditch Captain Cedric Diggory and Madam Hooch this week. They will NOT be boosted on Community Day, so you need to at least place them once before Community Day if you hope to prestige the page.
If you have plenty of resources, use Tonics for Trace Detection. Focus on the Magical Games and Sports Traces. If you can visit an area with lots of Inns, stack Dark Detectors. Quidditch Captain Cedric Diggory is a Severe-threat Foundable, so Dark Detectors will give you a better chance at finding him.
Tips for Enjoying May’s Community Day
This is another Wizards Unite Community Day that will be completely playable at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play with other people! I’m chatting with the WUtubers to see if we can make a livestream happen. Stay tuned!
Depending on what COVID-19 looks like in your local area, you might be able to meet up with other players safely in an outdoor location. Everyone should wear masks, carry hand sanitizer, and avoid shaking hands or hugging. Check out our guide on playing Wizards Unite safely. If you can do this, I highly recommend coordinating Wizarding Challenges at a local Fortress to avoid Knight Bus issues.
As the vaccine rollout continues in many countries, you might be able to meet up safely in an indoors location. This is definitely helpful for anyone living in an area with inclement weather, or anyone with access to a Simon Mall (a sponsored location).
A Note on the Knight Bus
If you’re taking the Knight Bus to do Wizarding Challenges, then keep in mind that the player who starts the Chamber determines whether or not the players can earn Community Day bonuses. This has been the case for all events with Wizarding Challenges, but I know it can still confuse players.
Wizards Unite Community Day is based on local times. However, when taking the Knight Bus, you can randomly play with witches and wizards around the world. This means that if Community Day is NOT active in your time zone, but you enter a Chamber started by a player where Community Day is active, then you can enjoy the Community Day bonuses.
Once Community Day is active in your area, then you should coordinate with friends to get the Community Day bonuses. Or you’ll want to start the Chamber yourself to guarantee the bonuses.
How to Earn 975 Magical Games and Sports Family XP
This is always a challenging task, but I believe that most players should be able to complete it, if you’re willing to do the necessary prep work.
First of all, I have long, detailed video on grinding Family XP during events. This goes over all the SOS Training nodes to unlock, it explains exactly how the Trace Charm works, and it gives detailed strategies for earning Family XP quickly.
To understand how to earn Magical Games and Sports Family XP, you first need to understand Repeat Image Collection and Family XP bonuses. These charts from Orange Wizard shows how much Magical Games and Sports Family XP you can place for each Foundable from Hogwarts Quidditch Stands and Hogwarts Quidditch Pitch II.
Community Day Tasks and Family XP
For returning 20 Quidditch Tryouts Seamus Finnigan Foundables, you earn a total of 100 Magical Games and Sports Family XP. You earn at least 20 Magical Games and Sports Family XP for placing this Image in your Registry once.
You will also earn 70 Magical Games and Sports Family XP for returning 7 Slytherin Quidditch Banner Fragments.
That’s a start with 190 Family XP just for doing event tasks. Calculating Family XP for collecting Quidditch Captain Badges is a bit more difficult. Instead, I’ve put together a step-by-step approach to earn sufficient Family XP.
Returning Foundables and Placing Images
I’ve laid out a path for earning the 975 Magical Games and Sports (MGS) Family XP. This math assumes you are starting on the base frame. If you are at a higher frame, you will need to return more Foundables to place an Image, but that is balanced by earning more Family XP for placing an Image.
|Return 24 Quidditch Tryouts Seamus Finnigan Foundables and place the Image 2 times in your Registry||Earn 40 MGS Family XP plus 5 FXP per Foundable (120)|
|Return 18 Quidditch Fan Neville Longbottom Foundables and place the Image 2 times in your Registry||Earn 50 MGS Family XP plus 7 FXP per Foundable (126)|
|Return 18 Quidditch Fan Luna Lovegood Foundables and place the Image 2 times in your Registry||Earn 50 MGS Family XP plus 7 FXP per Foundable (126)|
|Return 10 Quidditch Fan Hermione Granger Foundables and place the Image 2 times in your Registry||Earn 100 MGS Family XP plus 10 FXP per Foundable (100)|
|Return 3 Quidditch Captain Harry Potter Foundables and place the Image 1 times in your Registry||Earn 100 MGS Family XP plus 20 FXP per Foundable (60)|
|Return 3 Quidditch Keeper Ron Foundables and place the Image 1 times in your Registry||Earn 100 MGS Family XP plus 20 FXP per Foundable (60)|
|Return 3 Quidditch Captain Marcus Flint Foundables||Earn 5 FXP per Foundable (15)|
|Return 3 Quidditch Seeker Draco Foundables||Earn 10 FXP per Foundable (50)|
|Total||1097 MGS Family XP|
This breakdown doesn’t even include earning Magical Games and Sports Family XP for doing Wizarding Challenges.
This breakdown is also based on the assumption that Foundables from Hogwarts Quidditch Stands will be MORE boosted than the others.
Community Day Bundles
As always, the May Community Day includes a free store pack. You also have the option of buying premium store bundles.
SOS Bundle up first! This is identical to what we have seen for multiple Community Days past, so I’m using about the same logic. For 470 Gold, this bundle includes:
- 2 Tonics for Trace Detection
- 5 Silver Keys
- 50 Spell Energy
A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold. The value of 2 Tonics is thus 110 Gold. 50 Spell Energy costs 100 Gold. By breaking down the individual cost of Silver Keys in Diagon Alley, they are worth 72 Gold each, or 360 Gold for 5.
Thus, the value of the SOS Bundle is about 570 Gold if you want discounted Spell Energy, or 470 Gold if you don’t value Spell Energy. If you only need Silver Keys, the value is only about 360 Gold and not worth it.
The Community Day Bundle costs 420 Gold. This includes:
- 5 Strong Exstimulo Potions
- 5 Potent Exstimulo Potions
- 5 Magical Games and Sports Level 3 Runestones
- 5 Magical Games and Sports Level 4 Runestones
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus 5 Potent Potions are worth 355 Gold.
Using the cost breakdown from Andolov, we can assume that 5 Level 4 Runestones are worth 50 Gold. With the same logic, 5 Level 3 Runestones are worth 40 Gold.
Normally I don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions. However, these might be worth it to you if you need to replenish after the Adversaries Event, AND Ingredients are scarce where you live.
In that case, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.
Thus 5 Strong Potions might be worth 180 Gold to you.
If you value everything in the bundle, the overall value is 625 Gold, definitely better than the price tag. Personally, I have plenty of Magical Games and Sports Runestones, plus a decent stock of Strong Exstimulo Potions. I do not plan on buying this bundle.
Final Thoughts on Community Day
If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, set aside a few hours to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. This is a great way to walk off Portkeys and collect new Ingredients. Plant Snowdrop in a Greenhouse if you need it.
Carry an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!
I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see in future guides.
