How to Prepare for the Brilliant Event

Most Wizards Unite events will be easier in general if you work on your SOS Training. Unlock as many of these nodes as you can!

With a stronger Baruffio’s Brain Elixir, you can earn Wizarding XP more quickly.

With reduced brewing times for Exstimulo Potions and Healing Potions, you can do Master Notes on Potions more quickly.

With more Traces revealed by Tonic for Trace Detection, you can more quickly find Brilliant Traces to complete tasks.

Brilliant Event Tasks

After the previous shortened Brilliant Event, I have considerable doubts about this one. Some of these tasks are difficult. Others are time-consuming. I honestly don’t know if I will be able to complete this event myself, and I’m a daily player since the LA launch event.  The big question will be if all Wizards Unite players can complete these tasks during 4 days, especially since this Brilliant Event doesn’t include a weekend.

To complete the first set of tasks quickly, brew 2 Tonics for Trace Detection in advance. Wait until the Brilliant Event begins to collect them.

To prepare for the second set of tasks, do not visit the Brilliant Registry Page until you reach that step! Also, stop returning Brilliant Foundables once you reach 19 of either. Once you reach 20, you’re automatically taken to the Brilliant Registry Page, which you do not want. If you forget, you can force close the app to avoid collecting any Brilliant Runestones.

The New Marauders Quest 1/4

As already mentioned, brew your Potions in advance. Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find enough Brilliant Traces.

Collect Ingredients or Portmanteaus 3 Times 6 Snowdrop
Brew 2 Tonic for Trace Detection 2 Re’em Blood
Return 12 Brilliant Padfoot Foundables 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 10 Spell Energy

The New Marauders Quest 2/4

Requiring Master Notes is a slowdown task, which is really frustrating when the event is only 4 days. Brew Healing Potions and/or Exstimulo Potions.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find Werewolf Oddities.

To collect Brilliant New Marauders Runestones, visit the Brilliant Registry Page. Each time you level up, you collect a Runestone. To collect 5 of these quickly, do NOT visit the Brilliant Registry Page until you reach this step.

Use Master Notes 4 Times 1 Exstimulo Potion
Defeat 7 Werewolf Oddities 3 Leaping Toadstool
Collect 5 Brilliant New Marauder Runestones 1 Dark Detector

2nd Quest Rewards

  • 750 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

The New Marauders Quest 3/4

I honestly don’t know if I can cast 5 Great Spells in a row. I get Great and Masterful casts fairly often, but outside of Aguamenti and Ebublio, my speed/accuracy are more luck than skill.

Hop on the Knight Bus. Ruins V to Tower II usually give you 3-4 Foes, so you can knock those out fairly quickly.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find more Brilliant Traces.

Cast 5 Great Spells in a Row 1 Silver Key
Defeat 15 Foes in Wizarding Challenges 6 Ginger Root
Return 12 Brilliant Young Remus Lupin Foundables 3 Wit-Sharpening Potions

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 1250 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

The New Marauders Quest 4/4

Drink a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and hop on the Knight Bus to earn Wizarding XP.

Try to find Foundables with Spells you can easily do. Use a Trace Charm if necessary to get more of it. Don’t use any Potions to increase the odds of the Foundable resisting. Then you can do Masterful spells on the same Foundable.

Another Tonic for Trace Detection will help you return 15 Brilliant Foundables.

Earn 6000 Wizarding XP from Wizarding Challenges 1 Spell Book
Cast 4 Masterful Spells 1 Spell Book
Collect 15 Mysterious Note Pieces by Returning Brilliant New Marauders Foundables 1 Spell Books

4th Quest Rewards

  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Gold
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 30 Spell Energy
  • 1 Brilliant Marauder’s Map Registry Image
  • 5 Brilliant Prongs Fragments

The New Marauders BONUS Assignment!

Formidable Foes have 2 stars. You can find these in the Tower Chambers rather easily.

You will most likely need multiple Tonics for Trace Detection to find 40 Brilliant Traces. This is honestly a frustrating task when the event is only 4 days long.

You can also work on the Werewolf Oddities when running a Trace Tonic.

To earn 10,000 Wizarding XP quickly, once again, drink a Brain Elixir. Use your Trace Charm on every red beam (Severe and Emergency Traces). If you can visit an Inn safely, stack Dark Detectors to attract a greater amount of high-threat Traces. Wait until you’re on the Bonus Assignment to open 20 Gifts, prioritizing any Extravagant Gifts and others with high Wizarding XP. Honestly, I can get the 10,000 Wizarding XP with a Brain Elixir and just a few Extravagant Gifts.

Hopefully you have Exstimulo Potions after the Adversaries Event ends…

Defeat 15 Formidable Foes in Wizarding Challenges 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions
Return 40 Brilliant New Marauders Foundables 10 Spell Energy
Earn 10,000 Wizarding XP (ANY SOURCE) 1 Spell Book
Use Any 10 Exstimulo Potions 1 Silver Key
Defeat 10 Werewolf Oddities 1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir

Bonus Assignment Rewards

  • 2000 Wizarding XP
  • 100 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1 Brilliant Event Title
  • 20 Spell Energy

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

If you complete Quest 4, you do NOT need to unlock any Brilliant Portkeys.

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!

  • As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to pick up 5 Brilliant Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
  • If you are nervous about finding time to walk the Brilliant Portkeys, you can also earn the necessary Foundable Fragments by completing Quest 4.
  • To find Brilliant Cloak of Invisibility, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. This is an event task, so wait until that step to work on it. To minimize your usage of Spell Energy, stick with Ruins IV-V Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Fragments you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources. If you’re low on Runestones, try Tower I-II Chambers to improve your odds of earning the required Fragments.
  • If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can invest your resources in Advanced Adversarial Combat, you can start working on a second profession, or you can invest in SOS Training. That is a personal decision, so good luck!

Brilliant Event Bundles

There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind.

New Marauders Brilliant Event Bundles. Details written in article.

First up, the SOS Bundle! This bundle keeps appearing in Brilliant Events: 5 Silver Keys and 100 Spell Energy for 450 Gold. I’m going to use the same math because it hasn’t changed either.

You can buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold, making the individual value of each Silver Key 72 Gold. 5 Silver Keys are thus worth 360 Gold. If you only need Silver Keys, the SOS Bundle is not a good value.

100 Spell Energy costs 200 Gold, bringing the bundle value up to 560 Gold, a savings of 110 Gold. This bundle is only valuable if you need discounted Spell Energy (which you might after the Adversaries Event).

Next up, the Brilliant Bundle! For 800 Gold, you get:

  • 4 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
  • 7 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 3 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 30 Spell Energy

A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.

Thus 4 Brain Elixirs are worth 376 Gold.

A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.

Thus 7 Potent Potions cost 497 Gold.

A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold.

Thus 3 Tonics are worth 165 Gold.

Before Spell Energy, this bundle is worth 1038 Gold, a savings of 238 Gold! If you don’t need the Tonics, it’s still worth 873 Gold. While Level 60 players won’t benefit from the Brain Elixirs, most other players can appreciate this bundle. It’s the best deal that’s been offered in quite some time.

Finally, the Bonus Assignment Bundle! For 2100 Gold, you get:

  • 7 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 10 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 10 Strong Exstimulo Potions
  • 10 Exstimulo Potions
  • 5 Silver Keys
  • 150 Spell Energy

I’ve already calculated the value of most of these resources with the previous bundles.

7 Tonics are worth 385 Gold.

10 Potent Potions are worth 710 Gold.

5 Silver Keys are worth 360 Gold.

Those alone are worth 1480 Gold, not quite the value of the bundle.

Normally, I don’t advise buying Strong Exstimulo Potions or regular Exstimulo Potions because the Ingredients are fairly common. However, this Brilliant Event begins right after the Adversaries Event ends, so players will need to replenish their Potions.

Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

Thus 10 Strong Potions are worth 360 Gold.

Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, Re’em Blood, and Granian Hair, so 12 Gold per Exstimulo Potion.

Thus 10 Exstimulo Potions are worth 120 Gold.

Those bring up the value before Spell Energy to 1960 Gold, still shy of the 2100 Gold cost. If you need discounted Spell Energy, this can still be a good deal.

Final Brilliant Event Notes

Two big reminders.

  1. This event will only be 4 days, not 7 days.
  2. The United States has started Daylight Savings Time, so your time zone conversion might change.
  3. I’m not writing a separate speed run guide for this event because it’s so short. I will resume Brilliant Event speed run guides in April.

I agree… it would be super awesome if they did not include the slow-down tasks when the events last for only 4 days.

Who are they kidding with doing 5 great spells in a row? Just trying to do the great spells for the first part took me most of the time allotted for the entire event!

I understand making things challenging. I play a lot and even with potions I don’t get masterful casts. REALLY disappointed they keep making these part of the main challenge. Move them to the bonus round. I don’t even want to do it now.

I like that other confoundables are still on the map & not just the Brilliant ones. BUT. I used 3 trace potions just to get enough Padfoot! This is ridiculous

I’m fortunate that on my new phone it’s easier to get greats and masterfuls than on my old phone. Took me 3 trace detection potions to get enough padfoot, but the rest of the first 2 steps weren’t too bad (other than needing another couple trace detections to find enough werewolves). Took a lot of trying and failing, but managed to finish up the 5 greats in a row around the 24 hour mark. Probably have to use a couple more trace detection pots to get all the Remus Lupin’s needed, just haven’t had time to be on and do… Read more »

Before I begin with my comment: I’m a HUGE fan of this game. ❤️ I love how it brings a little “Harry Potter world” to my life throughout the day. It makes me happy 🥰 and it’s a great little distraction. BUT, with that being said, lately some of the quests have just too hard. Four days is too short, please go back to the 7 day Brilliant Events. Also telling us to get 5 Great Spell casts in a row is tough! 😕 If by some miracle I do get 5 GS’s in a row… I have never been… Read more »

I’m a L53 Prof and am moving on from WU. The events are hastily prepared and Ill conceived. 5 great casts proved impossible for me and I don’t have dexterity issues and am right handed.
Brita, I’d like to know what % of players completed this task. Did Niantec prove this out prior? Lots I would change about WU. Don’t get me started on my 15K useless scrolls….
Keep up the good work

I did finish this event yesterday evening. I have to agree that getting 5 great casts in a row was the most challenging! I was stuck on that task for a while and believe that I did the 5 in a row out of sheer luck! I am a level 43 Prof.

Finished the bonus today. Too short of time. I think many people do not have the time to finish these shorter events. I think they have lost track of that this is a game, not a job for us players. I’m also tired of how much data is used, and how dependent the game is on cellular. Not everybody has unlimited data, or live in big cities.

I am level 60, I also found the 5 greats in a row a bit much. I got passed it, but not without much effort. 2 things I find disappointing, one is the manipulation of the trace tonics that intentionally produce less of what the player needs to complete a tasks and more of what they dont. This makes me doubt whether the spell casting scoring might also be manipulated behind the scenes. Second issue is taking on an oddity or an adversary reset the “great in a row” count. I consider that a design flaw, but if it is… Read more »
