The two March Brilliant Events in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will only be 4 days each. The New Marauders Brilliant Event Part 1 will be March 21-25.
Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing this information early so Wizards Unite Hub could create this event guide.

Brilliant Event Tasks
Overall, these Brilliant Event tasks are fairly typical. The big question will be if all Wizards Unite players can complete these tasks during 4 days, especially since this Brilliant Event doesn’t include a weekend.
Overall, players need to brew a total of 8 Potions. These are split between Quests 1 and 3. If you want to do this quickly, spend Gold on a Rental Cauldron. Brew 4 Potions in each Cauldron, but wait until the right moment to collect Potions.
To prepare for the third set of tasks, do not visit the Brilliant Registry Page until you reach that step! Also, stop returning Brilliant Foundables once you reach 19 of either. Once you reach 20, you’re automatically taken to the Brilliant Registry Page, which you do not want. If you forget, you can force close the app to avoid collecting any Brilliant Runestones.
To prepare for the Bonus Assignments, do not PLACE any Images on the Brilliant Registry page until you reach that step. This will allow you to place Images quickly.
Keep in mind, this might be difficult to do since you need to earn Brilliant Family XP to collect Brilliant Runestones for the third set of tasks. You might decide to place some Images to earn Brilliant Family XP.
Also, if Brilliant Traces are plentiful for you, you can choose to place the Images multiple times. This allows you to grind Brilliant Family XP and earn even more Brilliant Runestones.
Your own schedule and game goals will help you decide which strategy to follow.
The New Marauders Quest 1/4
Fairly standard tasks. To speed things up, brew 3 Potions before the Brilliant Event begins. Wait to collect them all at once.
Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to get the Brilliant Foundables. Walking around your neighborhood or a park is also an easy way to find Brilliant Traces quickly.
|Collect Ingredients or Portmanteaus 3 Times||6 Snowdrop|
|Brew 3 Potions||2 Abraxan Hair|
|Return 12 Brilliant Wormtail Foundables||1 Baruffio’s Brain Elixir|
1st Quest Rewards
- 550 Wizarding XP
- 2 Restricted Section Books
- 50 Brilliant Family XP
- 10 Spell Energy
The New Marauders Quest 2/4
Sirius Black is boosted. The wording is creative. The task is just returning 4 Sirius Black Foundables.
Casting 15 Great Spells is yet another repetitive task that can be a challenge for anyone with dexterity issues. My best advice is to use Tonic for Trace Detection and/or visit an area with a great deal of available Traces. Then prioritize any Traces with an easy spell, like Aguamenti or Meteolojinx Recanto.
Once again, use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find Brilliant Foundables.
|Save Sirius Black from 4 Dementors||6 Ginger Root|
|Cast GREAT Spells 15 Times||1 Exstimulo Potion|
|Return 12 Brilliant Young James Potter Foundables||1 Dark Detector|
2nd Quest Rewards
- 750 Wizarding XP
- 75 Brilliant Family XP
- 3 Restricted Section Books
- 10 Spell Energy
The New Marauders Quest 3/4
If you don’t want to spend Gold on a Rental Cauldron, the quickest way to brew 5 Potions is to queue up 4 Exstimulo Potions or Healing Potions as soon as you collect the Potions for Quest 1.
Do Master Notes on the 1st Potion. Collect any ready Potions when you reach this Quest. Do Master Notes again, and queue up a 5th Potion.
To collect Brilliant New Marauders Runestones, visit the Brilliant Registry Page. Each time you level up, you collect a Runestone. To collect 5 of these quickly, do NOT visit the Brilliant Registry Page until you reach this step.
Hop aboard the Knight Bus to defeat Foes. These can be any Foes, so you can quickly knock these out in 3-4 Wizarding Challenges in the Tower Chambers.
|Brew 5 Potions||1 Strong Exstimulo Potion|
|Collect 5 Brilliant New Marauders Runestones||6 Bitteroot|
|Defeat 15 Foes in Wizarding Challenges||1 Silver Key|
3rd Quest Rewards
- 1250 Wizarding XP
- 75 Brilliant Family XP
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 10 Spell Energy
The New Marauders Quest 4/4
Severus Snape is boosted. The wording is creative. The task is just returning 5 Severus Snape Foundables.
Drink a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir and hop on the Knight Bus to earn Wizarding XP.
The quickest way to place Images in the Brilliant Registry is to wait until this step to do so. Placing Images on the Brilliant Quidditch Changing Room should count for this task, but it’s not guaranteed. If you want to prepare for this task, doing Wizarding Challenges with a Brilliant Runestone BEFORE the Brilliant Event begins. Collect 3 Lavender Brown Fragments so you’re ready to place her Image.
Another Tonic for Trace Detection will help you return 15 Brilliant Foundables.
|Free Severus Snape from 5 Jars||1 Spell Book|
|Earn 6000 Wizarding XP from Wizarding Challenges Challenges||1 Spell Book|
|Collect 3 Young Lily Evans fragments by using Brilliant New Marauders Runestones||2 Spell Books|
4th Quest Rewards
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 50 Gold
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 30 Spell Energy
- 1 Brilliant James Potter’s Golden Snitch Registry Image
- 5 Brilliant Young Severus Snape Fragments
The New Marauders BONUS Assignment!
The quickest way to place 5 Images on New Marauders Page is to wait until this step to place any Images. Luckily, you will have just earned the necessary Fragments for 3 Brilliant Images (Young Lily Evans, Golden Snitch, Young Severus Snape). Collecting those Images will most likely take you to the Brilliant Registry. WAIT. Do not place them yet! Confirm that the Bonus Assignment is active before you place those Images.
To earn 10,000 Wizarding XP quickly, once again, drink a Brain Elixir. Use your Trace Charm on every red beam (Severe and Emergency Traces). If you can visit an Inn safely, stack Dark Detectors to attract a greater amount of high-threat Traces. Wait until you’re on the Bonus Assignment to open 20 Gifts, prioritizing any Extravagant Gifts and others with high Wizarding XP.
Formidable Foes have 2 stars. You can find these in the Tower Chambers rather easily.
Sirius Black, Severus Snape, and Harry Potter are all from Potions Classroom. They are all boosted. Drink Tonic for Trace Detection to find these Foundables. You will probably need to use more than one Tonic to find enough Foundables to complete this task.
I know many players will groan about the “Highest Chamber,” but I prefer this task to using Potions in Wizarding Challenges.
|Place 5 Images on New Marauders Page||1 Spell Book|
|Earn 10,000 Wizarding XP (ANY SOURCE)||1 Spell Book|
|Defeat 15 Formidable Foes in Wizarding Challenges||1 Silver Key|
|Return 13 Potions Classroom Foundables||10 Spell Energy|
|Win Highest Chamber Unlocked 1 time||2 Wit-Sharpening Potions|
Bonus Assignment Rewards
- 2000 Wizarding XP
- 100 Brilliant Family XP
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 1 Brilliant Event Title
- 20 Spell Energy
Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them
Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.
If you complete Quest 4, you do NOT need to unlock any Brilliant Portkeys.
|Brilliant||Where to find it||Fragments to collect|
|Brilliant Young James Potter||Wild Encounter||20|
|Brilliant Wormtail||Wild Encounter||20|
|Brilliant Young Lily Evans||Wizarding Challenges (use an event Runestone)||3|
|Brilliant Severus Snape||Brilliant Portkey Portmanteau||5|
|Brilliant Golden Snitch||Brilliant Event Quest Reward||1|
Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event
If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!
- As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to pick up 5 Brilliant Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
- If you are nervous about finding time to walk the Brilliant Portkeys, you can also earn the necessary Foundable Fragments by completing Quest 4.
- To find Brilliant Young Lily Evans, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. This is an event task, so wait until that step to work on it. To minimize your usage of Spell Energy, stick with Ruins IV-V Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Fragments you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources. If you’re low on Runestones, try Tower I-II Chambers to improve your odds of earning the required Fragments.
- If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
- Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can invest your resources in Advanced Adversarial Combat, you can start working on a second profession, or you can invest in SOS Training. That is a personal decision, so good luck!
Brilliant Event Bundles
There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind.
First up, the SOS Bundle! This bundle keeps appearing in Brilliant Events: 5 Silver Keys and 100 Spell Energy for 450 Gold. I’m going to use the same math because it hasn’t changed either.
You can buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold, making the individual value of each Silver Key 72 Gold. 5 Silver Keys is thus worth 360 Gold. If you only need Silver Keys, the SOS Bundle is not a good value.
100 Spell Energy costs 200 Gold, bringing the bundle value up to 560 Gold, a savings of 110 Gold. This bundle is only valuable if you need discounted Spell Energy.
Next up, the Brilliant Bundle! For 800 Gold, you get:
- 4 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
- 7 Strong Exstimulo Potions
- 4 Tonics for Trace Detection
- 30 Spell Energy
A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.
Thus 4 Brain Elixirs are worth 376 Gold.
A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold.
Thus 4 Tonics are worth 220 Gold.
Normally I don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions or the Ingredients, because they’re relatively common. However, I realize many players are using these quickly with Adversaries, so Strong Exstimulo Potions have more value.
Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.
Thus 7 Strong Potions are worth 252 Gold.
The overall bundle value is thus 848 Gold, not counting the value of Spell Energy. This is an okay deal only if you need all of the included Potions.
Finally, the Bonus Assignment Bundle! This is similar to what we’ve seen in recent event bundles, but better. For 2100 Gold, you get:
- 10 Potent Exstimulo Potions
- 10 Tonics for Trace Detection
- 10 Silver Keys
- 150 Spell Energy
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus 10 Potent Potions cost 710 Gold.
The value of 10 Tonics is 550 Gold.
The value of 10 Silver Keys is 720 Gold.
For many players, this bundle is worth only 1980 Gold, not a good value. However, it’s a great value if you need discounted Spell Energy!
Final Brilliant Event Notes
Two big reminders.
- This event will only be 4 days, not 7 days.
- The United States has started Daylight Savings Time, so your time zone conversion might change.
- There won’t be a speed run guide for this event. I’m going away for my anniversary this weekend, and none of my dozen writers volunteered for the article.
Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms. I read all comments, even if I don’t respond to all of them. I pass on general opinions to the official HPWU team, so let your thoughts be known!
