June 2021 will include one final Adversaries Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite! This event features the infamously incompetent Gilderoy Lockhart, as well as a few magical creatures from his books.
Once again, the Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Spotlight Event is available for players levels 4-14.
This Wizards Unite event guide goes over all event details, including tasks, rewards, and strategic tips.

Adversaries Event Tasks and Rewards
I’m honestly so excited about these tasks! This event design is creative and refreshing, completely unlike any previous Adversaries event. Thematically, it’s a bit like the O.W.L.s event.
Most tasks relate to one of Lockhart’s books. The boosted Foundables include some guarded by Troll Confoundables. Any Foundable (listed below) guarded by a Troll Confoundable will count for the task, but only 3 are boosted.
- Portrait of Helga Hufflepuff
- Dumbledore’s Army Dueling Dummy
- Prophecy Orb
- The Veil
- Mirror of Erised
- Dragon Egg
- Mountain Troll
- Flesh Eating Slugs
Players have reported that the Magical Megaphone is not counting for the task, even though it is guarded by a Troll Confoundable. The Music Box features a dancing Troll, but it doesn’t count for this task either.
Also, the Portrait of Salazar Slytherin is guarded by a Banshee.
|Use 2 Edible Dark Marks||20 Spell Energy|
|Break with a Banshee: Return 4 Foundables Guarded by Banshees||1 Silver Key|
|Travels with Trolls: Return 8 Foundables Guarded by Trolls||6 Snowdrop|
|Holidays with Hags: Return 8 Hag Foundables||1 Wit-Sharpening Potion|
|Voyages with Vampires: Defeat 6 Vampire Oddities||1 Strong Exstimulo Potion|
|Earn 1750 Challenge XP Through Wizarding Challenges and/or Adversary Chains||1 DADA Book|
|Magical Me: Defeat 6 Gilderoy Lockhart||1 DADA Book|
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 500 Wizarding XP
- 60 Gold
- 30 Spell Energy
Adversaries Event BONUS Tasks and Rewards
This Adversaries Event includes a Bonus Assignment!
The boosted Foundables include some guarded by Gnome Confoundables. Any Foundable guarded by a Gnome Confoundable will count for the task, but only 4 are boosted.
- Acromantula Eggs
- Sorting Hat
- Baby Niffler
- Beater’s Bat
- Quidditch Fan Luna Lovegood
- Weasley Clock
- Giant’s Helm
The Portrait Artefact is available from either Guard, plus Lockhart himself, making this task easier than past comparable tasks.
|Household Pests: Return 12 Guarded by Gnomes||1 Spell Book|
|Gadding with Ghouls: Complete 3 Dark Chambers||1 Spell Book|
|Who am I?: Return 4 Portraits from Lockhart Encounters||1 Spell Book|
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 1000 Wizarding XP
- 40 Gold
- 30 Spell Energy
- Gadded with Gilderoy title
Not everyone will be able to complete the Bonus Assignment. That’s okay! Games should be fun, not stressful.
How to Prepare for June’s Third Adversaries Event
The preparation for this particular Adversaries Event remains mostly unchanged from recent Adversaries Events, because they’re all quite similar, just with different boosted Adversaries. While preparing before the event is helpful, using your resources wisely as you play is crucial as well. This particular Adversaries Event only features 1 Adversary, so it will be much easier to prestige.
With the tasks relating to regular Foundables, this Wizards Unite event guide also includes some tips from past Community Day events.
Prepare to Defeat Adversaries
Once again, the repetitive advice, simply stated.
- Finish a Profession Lesson Plan.
- Work on Advanced Adversarial Combat.
- Improve your Potions through SOS Training.
- Start brewing Tonics for Trace Detection, Healing Potions, Exstimulo Potions, and Wit-Sharpening Potions.
- Start collecting extra Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions and Wit-Sharpening Potions.
- Fill up on Spell Energy!
- Open up your maximum Gifts each day, prioritizing Gifts that give you the aforementioned resources.
- Purchase Vault Extensions.
This SOS Training chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions. Note the addition of nodes to improve Tonic for Trace Detection.

Baruffio’s Spotlight Event Prep
If you are at level 4 to level 14 in Wizards Unite, this is the chance to level up quickly! Here are the bonuses:
• Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time reduced to 6 hours
• Master Notes will reduce Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time by 50%
• Baruffio’s Brain Elixir effects increased to 3X
First, follow the advice above for collecting Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions. You can take advantage of the reduced brewing time. Exstimulo Potions will help you return higher threat Traces and therefore earn more Wizarding XP.
Start saving all the Ingredients for Baruffio’s Brain Elixir! These are all the Ingredients you need to brew one Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.
|1Runespoor Eggs||1Powdered Dragon Claw|
Frog Brains and Runespoor Eggs are fairly easy to find. Leaping Toadstools are rarely available on the Map–you mostly need to grow those in Greenhouses. Powdered Dragon Claws are exclusively available as Portkey rewards.
Leaping Toadstool has a 24-hour growing time. Plant seeds in a Greenhouse, and use Spell Energy to maximize the yield. Come back the next day at the same time to collect your Leaping Toadstools. To get even more Leaping Toadstools, use your Greenhouse Charm on the Greenhouse before you collect your Ingredients.
Walk a lot to unlock Portkeys for a chance at Powdered Dragon Claw.
You can also ask your friends to send you Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Gifts.
You should also brew at least a few Dawdle Draughts. These will help you return Severe and Emergency Traces more easily.
These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.

Tips to Enjoy the Adversaries Event
This advice assumes you get Traces at your home, or you’re able to visit an area with Wizards Unite activity on the Map. We’re still in a pandemic, so prioritize your health and follow all local laws! I realize the tasks are not possible to do at home if you don’t get Map activity, AND if you don’t have a stockpile of EDMs available to use. I have shared my frustration about this event design to the HPWU team, but they continue to make events difficult for rural players.
First, always keep a close eye on your Potions so you can collect new ones immediately and use Master Notes on the next one. Keep brewing Potions constantly. This is helpful for everyone!
Prestige Pages Quickly
To place all of the Images on the Adversary pages, you need fewer of the final Adversary than you do of the Artefacts. This is true of all Feared Adversaries, including Gilderoy Lockhart.
If you are low on Spell Energy and/or Potions, you can work to prestige your Registry pages while still conserving resources. Once you have placed an Adversary, and you have returned them enough times to place again, back out from future Adversary chains after you defeat the Guards. You will still receive Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards.
However, this strategy does mean you earn fewer DADA Books. It’s up to you if you want to prioritize grinding DADA Books or prestiging pages.
Grind DADA Books
If you really want to grind DADA Books, your best strategy involves going to an area with multiple Points of Interest in the game. Plant Snowdrop or Wormwood at a Greenhouse, depending on if you need more Exstimulo Potions or Healing Potions. Walk from Inn to Inn if available, or sit by an Inn if you just have one. Replenish your Spell Energy between Adversary Encounters. Use an EDM for 3 additional Adversaries every 30 minutes.
You earn 1 guaranteed DADA Book for each Adversary you defeat. Occasionally you can earn 1 DADA Book from defeating a Guard. You earn additional DADA Books by placing Adversary Images in the Challenges Registry.
Grind Wizarding XP (Spotlight Event)
If you are level 4-14, you can level up this weekend! I have a detailed video guide to the Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Spotlight Event.
Ideally, you will visit a place with Inns. Stack Dark Detectors on the Inns. Drink a Brain Elixir. Return all of the Foundables. If you’re overwhelmed by Traces, prioritize anything with an orange beam or a red beam.
Anything with a red beam needs a Strong or Potent Exstimulo Potion, plus a Dawdle Draught. Anything with an orange beam needs a regular Exstimulo Potion, if possible.
While your Brain Elixir is still running, open up 20 Gifts, prioritizing anything labeled Extravagant. Open any Portkeys that are ready.
If you are unable to visit an area with Inns, use a Tonic for Trace Detection. While you might not get any red beams, you can still grind Wizarding XP by returning Foundables. You can also easily use a Tonic for Trace Detection while walking around, so you can open Portkeys at the same time.
Finish Bonus Assignment
If you want the 3 extra Spell Books and 5 extra DADA Books, be strategic on the regular tasks to finish them quickly.
Use your first EDM immediately, but wait until you have completed all other tasks to use your second EDM. (Unless you rely on EDMs for Adversaries, then use them as needed).
Walk around while using the EDM to find the necessary Hag, Portrait of Salazar Slytherin, and Vampire Foundables.
After your first EDM finishes, use a Tonic for Trace Detection. Focus on the following:
- Hag (Dark Arts, yellow beam)
- Portrait of Salazar Slytherin (Hogwarts School, orange beam)
- Vampire (Oddity, yellow beam)
- Dumbledore’s Army Dueling Dummy (Legends of Hogwarts, no beam)
- Prophecy Orb (Ministry of Magic, no beam)
- Flesh-Eating Slugs (Dark Arts, no beam)
At the same time, keep walking around to find more Adversaries while you also return Foundables. If you’re nervous about getting to the Bonus Assignment in time, back out of any Adversaries who are not Lockhart.
If you want to prestige those pages, you can split the difference by just defeating the Guards to collect Artefact Fragments. And if you really want to save on resources, just defeat the first Guard then flee. While this is a slow process for collecting Artefact Fragments, it’s a valid choice to balance out your goals with your resources.
Keep walking to find Adversaries and Foundables, replenishing your Tonic for Trace Detection as needed. After you defeat 6 Lockhart Adversaries, you’ll still need up to 1618 Challenge XP. (Less if you defeated other Adversaries).
To earn the remaining Challenge XP, visit a local Fortress or hop on the Knight Bus. Solo in the Tower Chambers with Level 2 Runestones for a balance of resources (time, Spell Energy, and Runestones) needed to earn enough Challenge XP.
After completing all other tasks, use the second EDM. Collect your task rewards. Return to the Map. Confirm the Bonus Assignment is live. Start tracking down more of Lockhart.
Once your EDM expires, use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find the Foundables guarded by Gnome Confoundables. Prioritize the following:
- Acromantula Eggs (Care of Magical Creatures, no beam)
- Baby Niffler (Magizoology, no beam)
- Weasley Clock (Mysterious Artefacts, no beam)
- Quibbler (Wonders of the Wizarding World, no beam)
If you’re comfortable soloing Dark Chambers, you can try that. Otherwise, wait until you can do Wizarding Challenges with a group before you tackle that. To complete these quickly, stick with Dark I.
XpectoGO does a Wednesday Knight Bus livestream at 3:30pm ET. This is near the end of the Adversaries Event, so the perfect time to coordinate Dark Chambers with other players.
Adversaries Event Bundles
Like all Wizards Unite events, this Adversaries Event will feature store bundles. The free store pack includes an Edible Dark Mark! One paid bundle is new, while the other is a repeat. I’m using the same logic as always, but ultimately, you decide if a bundle is a good deal or not for your situation.
Free store pack includes:
- 1 Edible Dark Mark
- 2 Healing Potions
- 1 Exstimulo Potion
The Arresto Adversary Bundle (800 Gold) includes:
- 2 Edible Dark Marks
- 3 Tonics for Trace Detection
- 125 Spell Energy
Is this bundle a good deal?
You can buy 5 Edible Dark Marks for 1200 Gold, making the individual value 240 Gold. Thus the value of 2 Edible Dark Marks is 480 Gold.
A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold. Thus 3 Tonics are worth 165 Gold.
Before Spell Energy, this bundle is only worth 645 Gold. However, if you need discounted Spell Energy, this bundle might be good for you.
The Adversary Vanquisher Trunk (2020 Gold) includes:
- 3 Edible Dark Marks
- 125 Spell Energy
- 8 Potent Exstimulo Potions
- 8 Strong Exstimulo Potions
- 8 Wit-Sharpening Potions
3 Edible Dark Marks are worth 720 Gold.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus 8 Potent Potions are worth 568 Gold.
Normally we don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions because their Ingredients are common. However, with frequent Wizards Unite events, players are going through their Potions quickly.
Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.
Thus 8 Strong Potions are worth 288 Gold.
I really don’t recommend spending Gold on Wit-Sharpening Potions because Ingredients will be boosted during the event, AND you can get these Potions through Gifts.
Before Spell Energy, the bundle is really not worth the price asked. I only recommend this bundle for rural players who don’t have access to Ingredients or Spell Energy.
