Another month, another Community Day in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite! The July 2020 Community Day centers around the Dark Arts Registry page Knockturn Alley.
Once again, this will be an all-day event that can be played from home. Stay safe, witches and wizards!
If you’re curious about other Wizards Unite events in July, check out our monthly calendar.
Wizards Unite Community Day July 2020
This month’s Community Day will be similar to the one we just played in June. All the Foundables from a single page will be boosted, making it easier for players to prestige a gold frame.

Preparing for Wizards Unite Community Day
July’s Community Day is near-identical to last month’s Wizards Unite Community Day, just focused on a different page. Players have incentives to return Foundables AND to complete Wizarding Challenges AND to unlock Portkeys! Here are a few tips to prepare over the next week.
Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. These will contain Knockturn Alley Sign fragments, so you want to collect as many as you can!
If you can safely and legally walk around a park or your neighborhood, that’s a great option to unlock Portkeys.
Normally I recommend brewing Tonic for Trace Detection in advance of Community Day. However, with the brewing time greatly reduced, you should just stock up on Ingredients.
And yes, we double-checked that this event will actually include a greatly reduced brewing time. As always, follow Wizards Unite Hub on Twitter for any last-minute changes!
These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection Potion.
|Baneberry||Bulbadox Juice||Angel’s Trumpet||Erumpent Horn|
While these Ingredients are still boosted under the “play at home” changes, I’m aware that many players don’t have any Ingredients at home.
If you can safely stop somewhere with a lot of Wizards Unite activity, do so on the way to the grocery store on your next trip.
You can also ask your friends to send you Ingredient Gifts.
You should also consider brewing some Dawdle Draught. Swooping Evil is a Severe-threat Foundable, so you might want a few Dawdle Draughts on hand to return those majestic Creatures!
These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.
|Valerian Root||Sopophorous Bean||Butterscotch||Hermit Crab Shell|
Finally, try to stock up on Strong and Potent Exstimulo Potions. These will again help with returning Swooping Evil, as well as the Thestral (High).
This quick chart shows which Ingredients you need for the entire Exstimulo family.
|Shared between all Exstimulo Potions||Bitter Root
|Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Granian Hair|
|Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Abraxan Hair|
|Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Unicorn Hair|
Tips for Enjoying July’s Community Day
This is another Wizards Unite Community Day that will be completely playable at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play with other people! Once again there will be a group livestream with some of your favorite WUtubers. You can also set up your own video call to talk to friends playing Wizards Unite.
You can also consider meeting up with a local community in an outdoor location. Everyone should wear masks, carry hand sanitizer, and avoid shaking hands or hugging. Check out our previous guide on playing Wizards Unite safely. If you can do this, I highly recommend coordinating Wizarding Challenges at a local Fortress.
A Note on the Knight Bus
If you’re taking the Knight Bus to do Wizarding Challenges, then keep in mind that the player who starts the Chamber determines whether or not the players can earn Community Day bonuses. This was true during the last two Community Day events, but I know it’s a bit confusing.
Wizards Unite Community Day is based on local times. However, when taking the Knight Bus, you can randomly play with witches and wizards around the world. This means that if Community Day is NOT active in your timezone, but you enter a Chamber started by a player where Community Day is active, then you have the increased odds of earning a Knockturn Alley Sign in Forest IV and above. (You can also enjoy the other Community Day bonuses).
Once Community Day is active in your area, if you’re doing Wizarding Challenges in Forest IV or higher, then you should coordinate with friends to get the Community Day bonuses. Or you’ll want to start the Chamber yourself to guarantee access.
Repeat Image Collection
With Repeat Image Collection, you need to be strategic if you want to prestige the Knockturn Alley page multiple times. If you have already placed a Foundable in your Registry, as indicated by the green and white star, do NOT place it again! I know it’s hard to resist that enticing shimmer, but wait. After you have enough fragments for all of the Knockturn Alley Foundables, you can prestige the page. Those extra fragments on any Foundable marked by the green and white star will roll over to the next frame, making it easier to prestige the page again.
Community Day Bundles
In addition to the free store pack, you also have the option of buying special bundles. This graphic is courtesy of Orange Wizard.
Let’s break down these bundles. Are they a good deal?
SOS Bundle up first!
Tonic for Trace Detection costs 60 Gold for 1, and 120 Gold for 2. 50 Spell Energy costs 100 Gold. By breaking down the individual cost of Silver Keys in Diagon Alley, they are worth 81.25 Gold each. Thus, the value of the SOS Bundle is about 626 Gold if you want discounted Spell Energy, or 525 Gold if you don’t value Spell Energy. If you only need Silver Keys, the value is only about 406 Gold and not worth it.
Community Day Bundle breakdown.
Using the math from Andolov, Level 3 Runestones are worth 8 Gold each while Level 4 Runestones are worth 10 Gold each. Thus these Runestones combined are worth 90 Gold.
For Healing Potions, I’m also using values calculated by Andolov and other Wizards Unite Community team members. Since Healing Potions don’t have rare Ingredients, the cost of Ingredients is not factored into their value. The value is the cost of immediately collecting a Potion after using Master Notes in a Gold (rental) Cauldron.
A Healing Potion is worth 10 Gold. Thus 5 Healing Potions are worth 50 Gold.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus 5 Potent Exstimulo Potions are worth 355 Gold.
Overall, the Community Day Bundle is worth 495 Gold, a savings of 75 Gold.
I honestly think these bundles are the best we’ve seen in Wizards Unite since Nature & Nifflers.
Final Community Day Notes
Playing outside? Be sure to carry an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!
Be sure to have an EMPTY Potions queue before Community Day starts (or you wake up) so that you can fill it up with Tonic for Trace Detection. Stack your queue at the end of the day to take advantage of reduced brewing time after Community Day.
I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see in future guides.
