Never mind then.

Brilliant Event Tasks
These Brilliant Event tasks are fairly straightforward. We’ve seen variations of all of these before. One is a little different than the tasks we’ve had lately, but it’s still not completely new.
First Year at Hogwarts Quest 1/4
Brew your Tonic for Trace Detection in advance to finish these tasks quickly. Luckily these rewards are a bit better than last time!
Collect Ingredients or Portmanteaus 2 Times | Abraxan Hair |
Use 1 Tonic for Trace Detection | 4 Snowdrop |
Return 5 Brilliant Pomona Sprout | 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion |
1st Quest Rewards
- 550 Wizarding XP
- 2 Restricted Section Books
- 50 Brilliant Family XP
- 10 Spell Energy
First Year at Hogwarts Quest 2/4
These tasks are more reasonable than what we saw during the first week of this Brilliant Event, even if more Angel’s Trumpet is a fairly useless reward.
Use Master Notes to Brew 1 Potion | 4 Angel’s Trumpet |
Collect 2 Brilliant First Year at Hogwarts Runestones | 1 Unicorn Hair |
Return 7 Hogwarts School Foundables | 1 Dark Detector |
2nd Quest Rewards
- 750 Wizarding XP
- 75 Brilliant Family XP
- 3 Restricted Section Books
- 10 Spell Energy
First Year at Hogwarts Quest 3/4
Please take careful note that the Runestone task refers to the Hogwarts School Family, NOT Brilliant Runestones. This is a bit different than usual, but it should be fairly easy. If you don’t have Hogwarts School Runestones, you can either buy some assorted Runestones in Diagon Alley, or you can grind Hogwarts School Family Foundables. Several will be boosted during this event, so that should be relatively easy.
More Tonic for Trace Detection Ingredients. Whoop-de-doo.
Note: Due to an initial error, and then a subsequent bug, the task is now Return 1 Hogwarts School Family Foundable
Use 3 Hogwarts School Runestones | 6 Baneberry |
Return |
2 Erumpent Horn |
Return 10 Brilliant Filius Flitwick | 1 Silver Key |
3rd Quest Rewards
- 1250 Wizarding XP
- 75 Brilliant Family XP
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 10 Spell Energy
First Year at Hogwarts 4/4
In order to “Complete 5 Wizarding Challenges with 3 or More Teammates,” you just need a total of 3 players in a Chamber.
The best way to earn Brilliant First Year at Hogwarts Family XP is to open Brilliant Portkeys. This includes Portkeys from the first week, so if you haven’t opened all of those yet, hold on to them! The other quick option is grinding Wizarding Challenges and repeatedly placing Nearly Headless Nick in your Registry.
The third task is not new, but it hasn’t been in a Brilliant Event in many months. I think Christmas Calamity was the last event… The Mysterious Note Pieces are basically a bonus drop when you return Brilliant Foundables.
Complete 5 Wizarding Challenges with 3 or More Teammates | 1 Spell Book |
Earn 300 Brilliant First Year at Hogwarts Family XP | 1 Spell Book |
Collect 10 Mysterious Note Pieces by Returning Brilliant First Year at Hogwarts Foundables | 1 Spell Book |
4th Quest Rewards
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 50 Gold
- 1 Brilliant Professor Trelawney
- 30 Spell Energy
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
First Year at Hogwarts BONUS Assignment!
The bonus tasks are just a straight grind.
To earn 10,000 Wizarding XP, save your Extravagant Gifts and unlocked Portkeys. Open them while using a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir. During that time, also use a Tonic for Trace Detection. Once a yellow beam or higher appears, use your Trace Charm on that Trace to get even more Traces.
If you need help with your highest Chamber, I will tentatively livestream on Thursday, August 27th and Monday, August 31st, with the primary intention of helping lower-level players in the Knight Bus. Follow my personal Twitter account for further announcements.
To find Formidable Foes, check the Tower Chambers.
ALSO if you complete the entire Bonus Assignment, then you do NOT need to unlock 5 Brilliant Portkeys.
Earn 10,000 Wizarding XP | 1 Spell Book |
Return 45 Brilliant First Year at Hogwarts Foundables | 1 Spell Book |
Defeat Highest Chamber Unlocked | 1 Spell Book |
Defeat 7 Formidable Foes in Wizarding Challenges | 1 Dawdle Draught |
Cast 30 Good Spellcasts | 1 Silver Key |
Bonus Assignment Rewards
- 2000 Wizarding XP
- 100 Brilliant Family XP
- 1 Title for Ministry ID
- 5 Brilliant Professor Slughorn
- 30 Spell Energy
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them
Just like all previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for completing event tasks, doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones, and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys. Once again, you can also collect the Portkey Foundable by finishing the entire Bonus Assignment.
Note that you will need to collect 20 of the Brilliant Foundables found on the Map. This is an increase from past events.

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event
If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well! It is okay if you don’t complete the Bonus Assignment. That’s not required to earn all of the Brilliant Fragments.
- As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to collect 5 Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event. These rewards will not appear in other Portkeys, so you need to collect the Brilliant Portkeys during the week-long event.
- However, if you’re nervous about finding enough time to walk, you can also collect all 5 of the Portkey Brilliant Foundables by finishing the entire Bonus Assignment.
- To find Brilliant Nearly Headless Nick, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. To minimize your Spell Energy, stick with the Ruins Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Foundables you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources.
- If you didn’t collect all of your Brilliant Gringotts Facades from the first week, then you can do Wizarding Challenges after the second week ends for the chance to earn either Fortress-exclusive Fragment.
- If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
- Save your Scrolls, your Spell Books, and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. You will also earn Defense Against the Dark Arts Books. Spend those and your extra Restricted Section Books on SOS Training. Check out our first guide on spending DADA Books!
Brilliant Event Bundles
As always, 4 distinct bundles will be available during this Brilliant Event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind. Shoutout to Orange Wizard for his handy infographic!
Are these bundles a good value? Let’s do some math!
First up, the SOS Bundle. This is identical to the previous SOS Bundle.
You can now buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold, making the individual value of each Silver Key 72 Gold. 5 Silver Keys is thus worth 360 Gold.
100 Spell Energy costs 200 Gold.
If you only need Silver Keys, this is not a good value. However, if you need cheap Spell Energy, this bundle is worth 560 Gold.
Next up, the Brilliant Bundle. Like last time, this bundle doesn’t include Spell Energy! But are the Potions a good value?
Tonic for Trace Detection costs 60 Gold, which is actually a good deal considering the price of 2 Erumpent Horns. BUT these Ingredients have been plentiful lately, so most players don’t need more Tonic for Trace Detection. This value can be 180 Gold.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus it costs 710 Gold to buy 10 Potent Potions.
If you need the Trace Tonics, the value for this bundle is 890 Gold, a savings of 150 Gold. However, if you only need Potent Potions, this bundle is not a good deal.
Finally, the Bonus Assignment Bundle! This is usually the best deal, BUT it’s an expensive investment.
Using the same logic as above, the value of 15 Potent Potions is 1,065 Gold. The value of 10 Trace Tonics is 600 Gold.
10 Silver Keys cost 720 Gold. 150 Spell Energy costs 300 Gold.
If you need absolutely everything in the Bonus Assignment Bundle, the value is 2,685 Gold, a savings of 635 Gold. If you don’t need the Spell Energy, this bundle is still a good deal. However, if you don’t need the Spell Energy, nor do you need the Trace Tonics, this bundle is not a good deal.
Are you excited for this Brilliant Event, or are you getting a bit fatigued by them like I am? What do you think of the tasks, rewards, bundles, and more? What sort of tasks and rewards would you like to see in future Brilliant Events?
I’m always interested to hear your thoughts! Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms. I read everything even if I can’t respond to everything!
Not just you! I am also getting tired of the Brilliant Events. Even when they obviously try to slow us down, I still finish in 2-3 days. And they’re fairly repetitive. I’m getting Event burnout overall. There are just too many in my opinion. There’s something every weekend!
Wish they would give different freebie ingredients That could be an easy change
The events are getting a bit exhausting; it’s like I have a second job and my family eyerolls when I’m glued to my mobile device during our walks.
I don’t disagree that there’s a lot of events.
The nice thing is the books – I am trying to finish out my 1st profession and just need spell books; restricted books are far too scarce for all their uses; and of course DADA books.
I also like having the Challenge tasks because it makes it easier to find teammates in the higher chambers.
I really like the Challenge tasks too. My favorite events are the ones where it’s all challenges. I hope they do something like the Basilisk for Halloween again!
First 2 parts only took 30 minutes to complete but got to part 3 and it was not earn 200 Hogwarts family space but instead return 200 Hogwarts School family found ales. This is a lot different and placing images and opening port keys won’t help.
They just changed it from 200 Hogwarts school family foundables to only 30
Task 3 has come up as 200 Hogwarts School Foundables, not 200 Hogwarts School points! This is possible over a week, but it’s really out of line with other tasks.
if the change to 30 hasn’t shown up yet on your copy of the game, restart — that was necessary for me to see the change.
It is definitely not just you. I’m getting tired of the same old events and the never ending technical issues they always have and rarely address.
It was not “Earn 30 Hogwarts School Family XP” it was return 30 foundables! Quite a big difference, and much more of a grind! And those foundables are NOT boosted! After using 4 trace detection potions, I only have 9 total foundables. There are way more from other families.
Update. After restarting the game, my foundables are back down to 0, and I had to start over again. Now up to my 5th tonic for trace detection. Only 2 Hogwarts School foundables so far. Beyond frustrating.
What happens to the mysterious note pieces? Do they become an image to be place or fade into oblivion
