March continues with another Spotlight Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. This one centers around the Dark Arts Family, with boosted Foundables from 2 Registry pages.
This will be another casual event that you can grind, play casually, or skip entirely.
Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing this information early so Wizards Unite Hub could create this event guide.
Similar to the most recent March Spotlight Events, boosted Foundables will appear on the Map AND when using a Tonic for Trace Detection.

How to Prepare for the Dark Arts Spotlight Event
First, look at your Registry pages (Knockturn Alley and Fallen Ministry Atrium) that feature the boosted Foundables.
Personally, Knockturn Alley already has a gold frame. I need a large number of Magic is Might Statues and Tom Riddle Sr.’s Gravestones to prestige Fallen Ministry Atrium, so I’m not going to bother.
However, if you are close to collecting all of your necessary Dark Arts Fragments to prestige, start doing Wizarding Challenges with Dark Arts Runestones! If you can prestige either page, Swooping Evil, Percival Graves, and Tom Riddle will all be more valuable to return.
Potions Potions Potions!
You’ll also want to stockpile a few Potions before the Dark Arts Spotlight Event begins. Focus on the following:
- Exstimulo Potion
- Strong Exstimulo Potion
- Potent Exstimulo Potion
- Dawdle Draught
- Baruffio’s Brain Elixir
- Tonic for Trace Detection
You’ll want several of each of these to maximize the event! Personally, I plan to save my Potent Exstimulo Potions for the next Adversaries Event. I like to use regular Exstimulo Potions on orange beams and Strong Exstimulo Potions on red beams.
However, if you are a newer player, or you haven’t increased the efficacy of your Strong Exstimulo Potion, you might want to use a few Potent Exstimulo Potions over the weekend. Save them for red beams to get the most use out of your Potent Potions!
You also might want a few Dawdle Draughts on hand for Swooping Evil, Percival Graves, and Tom Riddle. I greatly depleted my stock last weekend, so I need to brew more!
Improve your Potions by investing in SOS Training. The following nodes will help your Potions do more, so you get additional benefits with less resources.

How to Enjoy the Dark Arts Spotlight Event
First, do you want to be strategic this weekend, or do you want to enjoy a casual event? There’s not a right or wrong answer!
If you’re playing casually, just check in whenever you’re able. Use your Trace Charm on any red beams (Severe-threat and Emergency-threat Foundables).
However, if you want a strategy for the weekend, you have multiple options.
As already mentioned, you can focus on prestiging pages. As necessary, do Wizarding Challenges with Dark Arts Runestones to earn the required Challenge Fragments. After you prestige a page, then use your Trace Charm on the Severe and/or Emergency Trace for that page.
If you haven’t placed all of the boosted Foundables yet, save your Trace Charm for those Severe and Emergency Traces! That way, you’ll get more of the Fragments you need. Of course, if you have plenty of Trace Charm charges, you might choose to use one on the Thestral or Portrait of Voldemort if you still need more Fragments to place their Images.
If you already have silver or gold frames for Knockturn Alley and Fallen Ministry Atrium, you can grind for bonus rewards from Treasure Trunks. Again, save your Trace Charm for the red beams to maximize the rewards.
When you place Swooping Evil or Percival Graves on a Gold frame, you earn 35 Ministry Manuals and 350 Dark Arts Family XP. On a Silver frame, you earn 20 Ministry Manuals and 200 Dark Arts Family XP.
When you place Tom Riddle on a Gold frame, you earn 55 Ministry Manuals and 600 Dark Arts Family XP. On a Silver frame, you earn 35 Ministry Manuals and 350 Dark Arts Family XP.
Orange Wizard created these graphics to showcase everything you need to know about Knockturn Alley and Fallen Ministry Atrium. Keep in mind that current beam/flare colors are bugged in the game, so they don’t align with the graphics below. Right now, everything has been pushed up a threat level. All advice above on red beams takes into account this current bug.
Finally, you can also grind for Challenge XP this weekend! If you live in an area with plenty of Adversaries, you can earn extra Challenge XP by defeating these Foes. Challenge XP will be boosted for each Foe, so you don’t need to defeat the final Adversary to reap the rewards.
You can earn more Challenge XP by defeating Adversaries.
For defeating the first Guard, you earn 3x Challenge XP, so 15 total Challenge XP.
For defeating the second Guard, you earn 7x Challenge XP, so 49 total Challenge XP.
For defeating the final Adversary, you earn 10x Challenge XP, so 100 total Challenge XP.
I only recommend this if you need more Adversaries. It’s not an efficient way of grinding for Challenge XP. It’s more of a nice bonus if you’re doing Adversaries anyway!
What do you think about having another Spotlight Event? Are you enjoying these casual events, or are you ready for normal events to return?
