The original March 2020 Community Day for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite ended up postponed. The amazing HPWU team did a little magic behind-the-scenes, and now the event is transformed to be completely playable from home!
Best of all, the Makeup March Community Day will be ALL DAY LONG! That’s right, it’s midnight to midnight once again.
Grab your Time-Turners, witches and wizards! It’s time for the March Community Day… in May.
As originally promised, our favorite red-headed twins Gred and Forge will be appearing more frequently, but they’re not the only feature of the Makeup March Community Day. Keep reading for all the details!

March Community Day Tasks
Did someone say Spell Books?! That’s right, 3 Spell Books are up for grabs if you complete ALL of the March Community Day tasks. Be sure to keep an eye on the time and prioritize finishing the tasks so you don’t miss out on this reward.
That said, these tasks haven’t changed from the original 3-hour Community Day plan, so you should easily finish them in 24 hours.

Preparing for Community Day
Stock up on Spell Energy before Community Day starts in your region. While you can find Spell Energy on the Map, and you’ll receive 25 Spell Energy in the free gift, you don’t want to worry about running out. This Community Day is all about Foundables, so you want a good supply of Spell Energy to overcome the Confoundable magic!
All aboard the Knight Bus!
When doing Wizarding Challenges prior to Community Day, use your Legends of Hogwarts Runestones. This will help you progress your Room of Requirement V Page. If you manage to prestige this page, then the increased Encounters of Angelina Johnson, Parvati Patil, Fred Weasley, and George Weasley will be even more valuable.
Nature & Nifflers is just a few days before Community Day, so your personal goals will determine how to use your Silver Keys. Try not to waste them during the Brilliant Event Burrow Besieged Week 2!
To the best of your ability, open as many of your Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up multiple 1km Portkeys. These will contain additional Dumbledore’s Army Signup Sheet fragments, so you want to collect as many as you need!
I know that walking around your home isn’t thrilling, but it can help you get distance if you’re using Adventure Sync. Try keeping your phone in your pocket all day and see how much distance you rack up just going about your daily routine. If it’s not much, consider doing “laps” in the largest room in your house, or down the hallway.
Normally I recommend brewing a great deal of Exstimulo Potions prior to any Community Day focused on rare Foundables. However, with reduced brewing times for all Exstimulo Potions this Community Day, don’t worry too much about creating a large stockpile in advance.
However, you still want to collect the Ingredients you’ll need for Exstimulo Potions.
I know some players aren’t seeing many Ingredients at home, if any. If you can safely stop somewhere with a lot of Wizards Unite activity, do so on the way to the grocery store on your next trip. Playing from your car near a park or shopping center with multiple POIs is an easy way to collect Ingredients.
This quick chart shows which ones you need:
|Shared between all Exstimulo Potions||Bitter Root
|Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Granian Hair|
|Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Abraxan Hair|
|Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Unicorn Hair|
You should stock up on Tonic for Trace Detection Potions. First of all, you need at least 1 Tonic to complete the special tasks. However, if you want to use one during all of Community Day to take advantage of the boosted Traces, you’ll need a total of 48 Tonics for the event.
That said, I doubt most players will play the entire 24 hours! Build your supply with a solid 10-20 Tonics to get through a more relaxed Community Day grind.
These are all the Ingredients you need for Tonic for Trace Detection Potion.
|Baneberry||Bulbadox Juice||Angel’s Trumpet||Erumpent Horn|
If you’re unable to collect these Ingredients, I highly recommend buying Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley. It’s the only Potion that’s actually a really good deal.
Finally, time your Potions in your cauldrons carefully! You want an empty queue when Community Day begins. Take advantage of the reduced brewing time for all Exstimulo Potions! With Master Notes, these will be the times for each type of Exstimulo Potion:
- Exstimulo Potion: 15 minutes
- Strong Exstimulo Potion: 30 minutes
- Potent Exstimulo Potion: 1 hour
And if you choose to use the Gold Cauldron, times will be reduced even further.
Tips for Enjoying March’s Makeup Community Day
This Wizards Unite Community Day is completely playable at home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t play with other people! Stay tuned for more details regarding a group livestream with some of your favorite WUtubers. You can also set up your own video call to talk to friends playing Wizards Unite.
If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, set aside a few hours to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. Wear sunscreen, and carry a water bottle. Don’t forget an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!
Need to make the day extra-magical at home? Dress up in your favorite wizarding apparel, which is always the best way to play Wizards Unite anyway. Get a roommate or family member to snap an AR photo of you and your favorite Foundable. Share your magical photos online using the hashtag #WizardsUnite
- Splurge on a Gold Rental Cauldron to maximize the reduced brewing time of all Exstimulo Potions. It’s up to you and your Gold to determine how many hours to rent.
- Time your Potions carefully so that you can start a Potent Exstimulo Potion at the very end of Community Day in your regular cauldron. You will also want to have 3 more Potent Exstimulo Potions in your queue. While the Master Notes will no longer have the bonus effectiveness, you should still get the reduced brewing time for any Potions in your queue.
- Time your Potions carefully so that you can start a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir at the very end of your Gold Rental Cauldron. This allows you to maximize the time on it.
Community Day Premium Pack
For every event, Wizards Unite puts together bundles in Diagon Alley. You can see the March Community Day Premium Pack in the infographic below, courtesy of our friend Orange Wizard.
But is it a good deal? Let’s crunch the numbers.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
3 Potent Exstimulo Potions are then worth about 213 Gold.
If you buy Silver Keys in a bundle, you pay 325 Gold for 4 Silver Keys. That makes the value of 2 Silver Keys about 163 Gold.
If you do not care about Spell Energy, then the value of the Community Day bundle is 376 Gold, considerably less than the price of 420 Gold.
However, if you do need to purchase Spell Energy, it’s normally 100 Gold for 50 Spell Energy, or 200 Gold for 100 Spell Energy. That raises the value of this Premium Pack to 576 Gold, making it a good value.
I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see in future guides.
