Burning Day Brilliant Event Part 2

Return Brilliant Foundables to the Brilliant Forbidden Forest in Part 2 of the Burning Day Brilliant Event, starting November 1st at 11 a.m. (PT).

Help restore Ron’s memories of his fifth year and attempt to beat The Unforgivable at their own game.

Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing this information early so Wizards Unite Hub could create this event guide.

UPDATE: The HPWU team is aware that many players cannot access the Brilliant Event task list. Players will be able to earn the missing Restricted Section Books and Brilliant Dolores Umbridge’s Torn Cape Registry Image during the next Brilliant Event.

Brilliant Event Tasks

Nothing is too original in the tasks, so returning players already know the best strategies.

The first quest requires you to brew Potions, which you can do in advance. The will count toward the task as soon as you collect them.

They’ve moved the task of collecting Brilliant Runestones to the second quest. Remember, do NOT visit the Brilliant Registry until you reach this quest, though the temptation to do so will be less during this event than ones when it comes at a later stage.

The third and fourth quests are both going to be grinds in order to return enough of the needed Foundables. Try to be patient with your random luck and know that everyone’s feeling the same frustrations you are.

Also in the fourth quest you need to place Images in the Brilliant Registry. To do this quickly, wait until you have collected the rewards from your third quest before you place any Images.

The Bonus Assignments have a lot of overlap in them, so that will be easier to finish than it normally is – hooray!

Burning Day Quest 1/4

Collecting Ingredients, Portmanteaus, Spell Energy, or Seeds is pretty straightforward.

You can pre-brew your Potions, so they are ready to collect as soon as the event begins.

Use a Tonic for Trace Detection to find enough Brilliant Traces.

Collect 3 Ingredients or Portmanteaus on the Map 30 Gold
Brew 3 Potions 20 Gold
Return 12 Brilliant Grawp Foundables 1 Exstimulo Potion

1st Quest Rewards

  • 550 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Brilliant Family XP
  • 10 Spell Energy

Burning Day Quest 2/4

The Master Notes task will slow down your progress, though you can rent a second cauldron to complete that task a little sooner. Be sure to brew regular Exstimulo or Healing Potions because they have the shortest brewing time.

Tonic for Trace Detection should help you find the Legends of Hogwarts and Brilliant Traces. Three of the boosted Foundables – Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Sirius Black – are from the needed family, though any other Legends of Hogwarts Foundables that appear will count for that task.

Visit the Brilliant Registry to collect Brilliant Runestones.

Return 15 Legends of Hogwarts Foundables 1 Dawdle Draught
Use Master Notes 5 Times 30 Gold
Collect 6 Brilliant Burning Day Runestones 40 Gold

2nd Quest Rewards

  • 750 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Burning Day Quest 3/4

Another Tonic for Trace Detection will help you find enough Brilliant Firenze and Mountain Troll Foundables.

Expecto Patronum is the spell you cast in an encounter with Sirius Black, so he’ll be in high demand. Any others that are threatened by dementors (Nymphadora Tonks or Quidditch Captain Harry Potter, for instance) will also count for this task. If you do the spell slowly or poorly, you may get the chance to cast several for each Foundable you return.

Return 12 Brilliant Firenze Foundables 1 Silver Key
Cast 5 Expecto Patronum Spells 50 Gold
Return 15 Mountain Troll Foundables 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 1250 Wizarding XP
  • 75 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 10 Spell Energy

Burning Day Quest 4/4

Take a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir before heading to the Knight Bus to ensure you get the most Wizarding XP possible from each Fortress battle.

Use Brilliant Runestones while doing those Wizarding Challenges to earn the Brilliant Ron’s Prefect Badge. Remember that you can place it multiple times if needed.

If you choose to take a Tonic for Trace Detection to reveal extra Brilliant Foundables, I would suggest doing so after finishing the Challenges – that way it may still be active when you move on to the Bonus Assignments, getting you more bang for your brew!

Place 5 Brilliant Burning Day Registry Images 1 Spell Book
Earn 7500 Wizarding XP from Challenges 1 Spell Book
Collect 15 Mysterious Note Pieces by Returning Brilliant Burning Day Foundables 1 Spell Book

4th Quest Rewards

  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 50 Gold
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 30 Spell Energy
  • 1 Brilliant Dolores Umbridge’s Torn Cape Registry Image

Burning Day BONUS Assignment!

To earn 12,500 Wizarding XP quickly, once again, drink a Brain Elixir. Wait until you’re on the Bonus Assignment to open 20 Gifts, prioritizing any Extravagant Gifts and others with high Wizarding XP. Honestly, I can get the 12,500 Wizarding XP with a Brain Elixir and just a handful of Extravagant Gifts.

If you can’t earn all of the Wizarding XP from Gifts, you can also return Foundables. Use your Trace Charm on every orangish-red and red beam (Severe and Emergency Traces). If you can visit an Inn safely, stack Dark Detectors to attract a greater amount of high-threat Traces.

To defeat 15 Formidable Foes, hop on the Knight Bus. You usually get 3-4 Foes per Challenge in Ruins IV to Tower III and some of those are bound to be Formidable (aka., those with 2 stars).

Finally, use another Tonic for Trace Detection to find the 35 Brilliant Burning Day Foundables, plus Albus Dumbledore. Since he requires you to use Incendio, and he’s often challenging to return, you should finish that task simultaneously.

Return 35 Brilliant Burning Day Foundables 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion
Earn 12,500 Wizarding XP from Any Source 1 Silver Key
Defeat 15 Formidable Foes in Wizarding Challenges 1 Spell Book
Return 3 Albus Dumbledore Foundables 1 Spell Book
Cast 7 Incendio Spells 2 Wit-Sharpening Potions

Bonus Assignment Rewards

  • 2000 Wizarding XP
  • 100 Brilliant Family XP
  • 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
  • 1 Brilliant Achievement Badge
  • 20 Spell Energy
  • 5 Brilliant Grawp’s Bicycle Bell Registry Images

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

If you complete the Bonus Assignment, you do NOT need to unlock any Brilliant Portkeys.

With more Traces revealed by Tonic for Trace Detection, you can more quickly find Brilliant Traces, as well as the necessary Legends of Hogwarts Foundables and Mountain Trolls. This will help you complete tasks.

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

If this is your first Brilliant Event, or maybe you’re returning after a Wizards Unite hiatus, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!

  • If you are below level 20 in Wizards Unite, you might want to use Exstimulo Potions on the Brilliant Foundables. Otherwise they will use a lot of Spell Energy to return, because they resist.
  • As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to pick up 5 Brilliant Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
  • If you are nervous about finding time to walk the Brilliant Portkeys, or are living under a lockdown, you can also earn the necessary Brilliant Fragments by completing the Bonus Assignment.
  • To find the Brilliant Ron’s Prefect Badge, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. It’s easiest to do this during Quest 4 since it’s a task. To minimize your usage of Spell Energy, stick with Ruins IV-V Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Fragments you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources. If you’re low on Runestones, try Tower I-II Chambers to improve your odds of earning the required Fragments.
  • If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can invest your resources in Advanced Adversarial Combat, you can start working on a second/third profession, or you can invest in SOS Training. That is a personal decision, so good luck!

Brilliant Event Bundles

As usual, you have the option to collect 1 free bundle and to buy 3 premium bundles. Don’t forget the open your free bundle before the event ends! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind.

First up, the SOS Bundle! This bundle keeps appearing in Brilliant Events: 5 Silver Keys and 100 Spell Energy for 450 Gold. Since the bundle is the same, the math is the same too.

You can buy 10 Silver Keys for 720 Gold, making the individual value of each Silver Key 72 Gold. 5 Silver Keys is thus worth 360 Gold. If you only need Silver Keys, the SOS Bundle is not a good value.

100 Spell Energy costs 200 Gold, bringing the bundle value up to 560 Gold, a savings of 110 Gold. This bundle is only valuable if you need discounted Spell Energy.

Next up, the Brilliant Bundle! For 800 Gold, you get:

  • 5 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
  • 8 Exstimulo Potions
  • 5 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 30 Spell Energy

A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.

Thus 5 Brain Elixirs are worth 470 Gold.

A single Tonic for Trace Detection in Diagon Alley costs 60 Gold. However, you can also buy 4 for 220 Gold, so the individual value is 55 Gold.

Thus 5 Tonics are worth 275 Gold.

I do not recommend spending Gold on regular Exstimulo Potions or their Ingredients.

Finally, the Spell Energy is worth 60 Gold.

The total value of the bundle is 805 Gold, a savings of just 5 Gold. You may decide this is a smart purchase for you if you are low on Ingredients for the Potions or they are particularly rare where you live.

Finally, the Bonus Assignment Bundle! For 2100 Gold, you get:

  • 10 Tonics for Trace Detection
  • 6 Strong Exstimulo Potions
  • 6 Potent Exstimulo Potions
  • 10 Silver Keys
  • 150 Spell Energy

10 Tonics are worth 550 Gold.

Because the Ingredients needed to brew regular or Strong Exstimulo Potions are fairly common, it is typically not a good value to purchase them in Diagon Alley. For those who want to know the math, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.

If you really need those Strong Potions, 6 could be worth 216 Gold.

(Also, the reason I look at all Ingredients for Strong Exstimulo Potion is because you should only spend Gold on these if you desperately can’t get the Ingredients. In that case, the cost comparison is for the cost of Ingredients).

A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.

Thus 10 Potent Potions cost 426 Gold.

10 Silver Keys cost 720 Gold.

Before Spell Energy, this bundle is worth up to 1912 Gold. With Spell Energy, it’s still only worth 2212 Gold. If you really need Potions and Spell Energy, this bundle might be worth it to you.

When I tried to finish potions as soon as I started them I didn’t get them. I am a auror and I use a lot of the regular exstimulo potions. I happened to use a lot one day and went to brew a dozen. I brewed four in the extra cauldron and then collected them three times. When I checked my vault I didn’t have them. I wrote support and they couldn’t find the problem. They only found the ones that I didn’t brew fast. Now I wait a while before I collect them.

New event tomorrow and the update hasn’t hit yet. Will the update hut during the event then? Again four days? Please keep it seven days. Some people will not be able to complete these events if they are four days. The problem with brilliant events is that if you can’t complete them, you can’t get the items and miss some of the story.

One would think they’d do something for Guy Fawkes Day with this particular event! At least they should have included the phoenix as a special Foundable.

Another 4-day brilliant event with no reduction in tasks? It was extended last time. Have we learned nothing? Today users cannot login with FaceBook. I sure hope this event is extended.

The shorter event is, I suspect, because the first Lethal event is scheduled for next weekend, and they don’t want to have two events running at the same time.

I don’t think they have much room to maneuver events around; they already need to re-schedule the Horcrux event that was cancelled for last weekend.

grawp brilliants were 12 fragments for me though the text on the event task matches your text. I have no charms left, so I have not gotten to try firenze if firenze task is fragments or foundables.

The event started for me on time, the achievements icon at bottom right of the screen changed to Grawp, and the discussion btw Harry Hermione and Constance popped up. But shortly thereafter the achievements went back to normal and everything on the special tasks page is gone. Has this happened to anyone else?

My task list is gone. Was collecting my potions for the first task and no list. This is the first event I can’t play. Needless to say am not happy. Have contacted Niantic with no response.

Was a bit shocked and thrilled to see all the gold/galleon rewards both in the special event and the higher amount in my daily quests, then saw the announcement and understood why. At least game play should be more fun for the next couple of months before things shut down.

Slow start on this event due to life being busy, then Grawp not being anywhere to be found, but still hoping to finish. I never rent cauldrons, but for 15 gold decided to rent the 4 hour to speed up my master notes quest.

Good luck everyone!

On the 2/4 quest to return Legends of Hogwarts the quest actually says “Recover 15 Legends of Hogwarts family fragments” and I can confirm from using a trace charm that it really is fragments, sparkling ones from the charm that gave 2 fragments gave me 2 /15 each on the quest.

I was sure I posted this already, but maybe I navigated away without posting.
In step 2/4, the Legends of Hogwarts quest is actually to return fragments, and is both worded and functions as such. Foundables giving multiple fragments from a trace charm count for extra =)

Finished the event. Hardest part was the Mountain trolls on task 3.

The shorter time is more difficult for people who work a lot of hours. I wish events could go over the weekends so I could have a couple days of just good gameplay. Also, is anyone else having trouble with the 3rd troll task? I’m not getting ANY, even with TTD running 🤔

Reply to  Andrea Dow

We’ll it’s after 1 AM where I am. I took a day off work, used almost my whole stash of TTD potions (over 25), and still have only 10 of the 15 troll fragments for the 3rd set of tasks. I have to work tomorrow so I guess I’m done with this event. First one I haven’t completed 😞

Mountain trolls were tough to find, but now 12 hours to go and I’m not seeing a single brilliant trace even after 2 tonics. They’ve disappeared, so I can’t finish the event.
