Hey, witches and wizards! Another two-week Brilliant Event is about to begin in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The Quidditch Cup Brilliant Event will be two separate weeks with a break between them.
The first week will be May 5-12, 2020.
The second week will be May 19-26, 2020.
This guide covers the first week of the Quidditch Cup Brilliant Event.
You can find the rest of May’s events in our monthly overview.
Similar to the previous Brilliant Event (Burrow Besieged), this event will be completely playable from home. That means:
- 1.5km Brilliant Portkeys
- lots of Tonic for Trace Detection tasks
With the arrival of the Knight Bus, this Brilliant Event sees the return of Fortress-exclusive Foundables! This also means the bonus tasks will offer better rewards.
Guide to Week 1 of the Quidditch Cup Brilliant Event!
Discover all the tasks and the rewards in the second week of the Burrow Besieged Brilliant Event!
Once again, this Brilliant Event will have a Bonus Assignment during the event. The rewards are pretty exciting, so I encourage you to finish the Bonus Assignment!
I’ve also covered everything in a video if you prefer that format.

Brilliant Event Tasks
As per usual, these tasks all come straight from the Wizards Unite development team. They should be accurate unless the HPWU developers make last-minute changes (again). If anything changes, I will update this article as soon as possible!
Brilliant Portkeys from this week of the Burrow Besieged Brilliant Event will feature a new location, the Quidditch Locker Room! I’m so excited for more beautiful artwork from the creative Wizards Unite team.
As mentioned in the chart above, Spell Energy will be among the rewards for completing tasks! This should help players who aren’t seeing much Spell Energy on the Map.
The Quidditch Cup Quest 1/4
Pretty straightforward tasks to start the Brilliant Event.
Return 3 Magical Games and Sports Foundables | 6 Snowdrop |

Cast Arresto Momentum 15 times | 1 Spell Book |
Return 10 Golden Snitches | 1 Spell Book |
Earn 5000 Wizarding XP from Traces | 1 Spell Book |
4th Quest Rewards

- 1 Quidditch Captain Crest – Ravenclaw Ministry Portrait Sticker

The Quidditch Cup Week 1 BONUS Assignment!
If you complete the regular Brilliant Event quests before the Brilliant Event ends, you also have the opportunity to complete the Bonus Assignment.
10,000 Wizarding XP is a lot… But between returning Foundables and taking the Knight Bus, you can rack that up in a reasonable amount of time, especially if you use a Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.
You only need to cast Arresto Momentum successfully… You don’t need to return the Foundable. Rack up that number by slowly and accurately doing the spell, so you have to do it multiple times on a single Foundable.
Earn 10,000 Wizarding XP | 3 Quidditch Through the Ages Registry Images |
Use 3 Tonic for Trace Detection | 3 Quidditch Through the Ages Registry Images |
Return 30 Brilliant Traces | 3 Quidditch Through the Ages Registry Images |
Cast Arresto Momentum 45 times | 3 Quidditch Through the Ages Registry Images |
Return 20 Golden Snitches | 3 Quidditch Through the Ages Registry Images |
Bonus Rewards
- 2000 Wizarding XP
- 100 Brilliant Family XP
- 5 Spell Books
- 1 Epilogue Title: Quidditch Fan
- 30 Spell Energy
PRO TIP! When collecting your Bonus rewards, confirm that you need at least 3 Quidditch Through the Ages fragments! Otherwise, when you collect the rewards, the other fragments will be wasted. This is true for each individual set of rewards.
Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them
Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for completing event tasks, doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones, and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys.

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event
If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!
- As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to collect 5 Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event.
- To brew Potions quickly, you can brew them in advance. See my specific suggestions for each task on the best way to do this.
- To find the Brilliant Inter-House Quidditch Cup, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestone. To minimize your Spell Energy, stick with the Ruins Chambers. It might take a few extra Wizarding Challenges to get the 3 Foundables you need, but you’ll be able to do so quickly, without expending too many resources.
- If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out my previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
- Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and some Professors have also done so. At this point, you can either hold on to your resources in case they’re needed for the next lesson plan, or you can start working on a second profession.
Brilliant Event Bundles
There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to snag the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind. Orange Wizard provided the infographic below explaining all of the bundles.
Are these bundles a good deal? Let’s break down the math.
We’ve seen the SOS bundle before, so the math is exactly the same.
Tonic for Trace Detection costs 60 Gold for 1 and 220 Gold for 4, meaning you would spend 280 Gold for 5. 150 Spell Energy costs 300 Gold.
Thus the value of the SOS Bundle is 580 Gold, a savings of 160 Gold, but only if you value discounted Spell Energy.
The Brilliant Bundle is a bit more robust this time, but is it a good value? The initial calculations of value are the same.
A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.
Thus it costs 470 Gold to buy 5 Brain Elixirs. Increasing your Ingredients Capacity by 30 costs 150 Gold; half of that is 75 Gold. 150 Spell Energy costs 300 Gold.
Thus the value of the Brilliant Bundle is 845 Gold. That’s only a savings of 245 Gold, but only if you value discounted Spell Energy.
The Bonus Bundle is a bit different this time around.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
That means that 15 Potents are worth 1065 Gold.
Remember, a Brain Elixir is worth 94 Gold, so 15 are worth 1410 Gold.
It costs 200 Gold to expand Potions Capacity by 10. So the value of expanding Potions Capacity by 20 is 400 Gold.
Thus the value of the Bonus Bundle is 2875 Gold. That’s a savings of 875 Gold if you value the Potions Capacity. The savings is 475 Gold otherwise.
Are you excited for this Brilliant Event? What do you think of the tasks, rewards, bundles, and more?
I’m always interested to hear your thoughts! Connect with me and the rest of the WizHub team here in the comments or on our social media platforms.
Sounds great I just hope the Arresto Momentum shows up they have a tendency to never be when you need them also we need more snowdrops.
Agree about the snowdrops! I almost completely depleted my supply during community day.
The brilliant events are fun and I appreciate the opportunity to earn books. My frustration is with the lack of new lesson plans to spend them on. With red books hard to get through wizarding challenges after you max out, and restricted books strictly allotted, I hesitate to fill out a second profession in case the new plans arrive and I have nothing to complete them with for my main profession.
Is there any indication Niantic will drop new lesson plans? How about at the one year mark?
I’m with you guys on the Snowdrop – or rather, I was with you guys on the Snowdrop but since, like, yesterday I’ve been able to find all kinds of Snowdrop and now almost no Erumpent Horn. It’s so weird, it’s like they made Community Day all about Exstimulo Potions but spawned barely any Snowdrop during the event (at least for me) – now it’s this Brilliant Event with all the Tonic for Trace Detection stuff and I find all the Erumpent Horn has dried up! For the past few weeks, it’s been friggin raining Erumpent Horn on the map… Read more »
Anyone have a bug where they cannot get past the 2 set of tasks? For Brillian Event: The Quidditch Cup Part One I cannot get past page 2/4 as I cannot return any Bludger Confoundables. I have caught 11 and show 0/7.
