The summer excitement continues with another Brilliant Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The dialogue from the first week of One Year Later intrigued me SO MUCH. I’m dying to find out what the story reveals in the second week.
Week 2 of One Year Later will be June 16-23, 2020.
Like all recent Brilliant Events, this will be completely playable at home.
As always, I’ve also covered all the Wizards Unite event details in a video! Or you can keep reading to find out what to expect this week.

Brilliant Event Tasks
As always, these tasks came directly from the HPWU team. However, they’re still in transition after Fazes left for bigger and better things, so please give your favorite content creators grace if the details change at the last-minute.
As mentioned in the chart above, Spell Energy will be among the rewards for completing tasks! This should help players who aren’t seeing much Spell Energy on the Map.
One Year Later Quest 1/4
A very easy start to the Brilliant Event!

One Year Later Quest 2/4
These are new quest steps! Certainly, you have to do Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones regardless, but it’s nice to see these game tasks included in the quest steps. Plus these tasks all work together.

|Brew 3 Healing Potions||1 Wit-Sharpening Potion|

One Year Later Quest 4/4
UPDATE: I was mistaken in how Family XP works in Wizarding Challenges. To earn Family XP in a Wizarding Challenge, you must 1) use the correct Runestone and 2) earn a Family Foundable Fragment (like the Fountain of Magical Brethren). Even then, you only earn 10 Family XP, regardless of the Runestone used or the Chamber completed.
I still recommend doing 3 Wizarding Challenges with Ministry of Magic Runestones in Dark Chambers as a way to use up Potions. However, that will only yield 30 Ministry of Magic Family XP, assuming you earn a Family Foundable Fragment each time. (This is highly likely in the Dark Chambers).
The other quick(ish) way to earn Family XP is by placing Foundables in the Registry.
Once again, you can knock out these quest steps simultaneously. Just do a few Wizarding Challenges in the Dark Chambers using Ministry of Magic Runestones. You’ll have 3 Healing Potions and 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion after finishing the 3rd quest. Use just 1 other Potion, and you’re golden!
|Earn 600 Ministry of Magic Family XP||1 Spell Book|
|Use 5 Potions in Wizarding Challenges||1 Spell Book|
|Use 3 Ministry of Magic Runestones||1 Spell Book|
4th Quest Rewards
- 5 Restricted Section Books
- 50 Gold
- 1 Registry Research Registry Image
- 30 Spell Energy
One Year Later Week 2 BONUS Assignment!
The Bonus Assignment is the chance to earn more Spell Books! You earn a total of 3 Spell Books for completing the regular tasks, but you can earn 3 more Spell Books by finishing the Bonus Assignment.

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them
Just like previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others are available as rewards for completing event tasks, doing Wizarding Challenges with Brilliant Runestones, and unlocking Brilliant Portkeys. As mentioned above, there is NOT a Portkey-exclusive Brilliant Foundable for this event.

|Brilliant Senior Minister Hermione Granger||Wild Encounter||15|
|Brilliant Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt||Wild Encounter||15|
|Pile of Runestones||Event Tasks||1|
|Registry Research Board||Event Tasks||1|

|Brilliant Junior Undersecretary Constance Pickering||Wizarding Challenges with a Brilliant Runestone||3|
Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event
If this is your first Brilliant Event, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event before the time runs out. With careful planning, you can complete the Bonus Assignment as well!
- As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you Part 1 Rewards anytime you open them, even if you wait to open them during Part 2. That means if you have any leftover Brilliant Portkeys from the previous week, they will only give the Part 1 Rewards. Brilliant Portkeys will glow purple on the Map. Be sure to collect 5 Portkeys during the Brilliant Event, even if you don’t open them all during the event. HOWEVER, you will also get these rewards by completing the entire Bonus Assignment, so if you always manage to do that, you might want to skip the Portkeys this time.
- To find the Brilliant Junior Undersecretary Constance Pickering, you must do Wizarding Challenges with the specific Brilliant Event Runestones. Try the Tower Chambers to collect the Brilliant Foundables while also completing the event tasks.
- If you decide to visit Inns, Fortresses, or Greenhouses during this event, continue to practice social distancing. Check out our previous article on staying safe while playing Wizards Unite.
- Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! That said, most Aurors and Magizoologists have already earned all the necessary Restricted Section Books, and many Professors have also done so. At this point, you can either hold on to your resources in case they’re needed for the next lesson plan, or you can start working on a second profession. That is a personal decision, and I don’t have any advanced knowledge on what the next lesson plan will look like.
Brilliant Event Bundles
There are 4 bundles total that will be available during this event. Be sure to open the Free Bundle as soon as the event starts! Or you can wait until the end for one last burst of Spell Energy if Spell Energy is normally abundant for you.
The Bonus Bundle will not be available until the Bonus Assignment is unlocked, so keep that in mind. Orange Wizard provided the infographic below explaining all of the bundles.
Orange Wizard has started calculating bundle costs based on what you would pay in Diagon Alley for the bundle. However, I calculate the value of different items differently, so let’s break down the value of these bundles.
Let’s start with the SOS Bundle.
A single Baruffio’s Brain Elixir costs 100 Gold in Diagon Alley. However, if you just need to buy the rare Ingredients, it’s a better deal to spend 20 Gold for 1 Dragon Claw and 12 Gold for 2 Toadstools, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 62 Gold. So let’s put the value of Brain Elixirs at 94 Gold.
Thus 3 Brain Elixirs are worth 282 Gold.
150 Spell Energy costs 300 Gold. 6 Snowdrop cost 18 Gold.
If you want discounted Spell Energy, the overall value of the SOS Bundle is 600 Gold. That’s a savings of 170 Gold. However, if you don’t need Spell Energy, this bundle is not a good value.
Next up is the Brilliant Bundle.
For these Potions, I’m using values calculated by Andolov and other Wizards Unite Community team members. Since none of these Potions have rare Ingredients, the cost of Ingredients is not factored into their value. The value is the cost of immediately collecting a Potion after using Master Notes in a Gold (rental) Cauldron.
A Strong Invigoration Draught is worth 28 Gold. Thus 5 Strong Invigoration Draughts are worth 140 Gold.
A Wit-Sharpening Potion is worth 19 Gold. Thus 5 Wit-Sharpening Potions are worth 95 Gold.
A Healing Potion is worth 10 Gold. Thus 5 Healing Potions are worth 50 Gold.
6 Snowdrop are again worth 18 Gold while 150 Spell Energy costs 300 Gold.
That makes the overall value of the Brilliant Bundle only 603 Gold, which is less than the cost of it. That said, if you live somewhere without Ingredients on the Map, then the value of Potions to YOU might be what Orange Wizard calculated. In that case, this bundle does offer good savings.
Finally, the Bonus Bundle.
15 Strong Invigoration Draughts are worth 420 Gold. 15 Wit-Sharpening Potions are worth 285 Gold. 15 Healing Potions are worth 150 Gold.
12 Snowdrop are worth 36 Gold. 200 Spell Energy costs 400 Gold.
Thus the overall value of the Bonus Bundle is 1291 Gold, well short of the cost. However, the same caveat applies. If it’s hard for you to collect Ingredients, then this bundle might be worth the cost to you.
