Brilliant Event Guide: Fighting Forces Week 1

15

September came and went without a new Brilliant Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Luckily, October is bringing another two-week Brilliant Event, this time called Fighting Forces.

Fighting Forces: Week One will be October 8th to October 14th.

Fighting Forces: Week Two will be October 22nd to October 28th.

This Brilliant Event guide will focus on the first week of Fighting Forces. Another Brilliant Event guide for the second week is coming soon!

Guide to Week 1 of Fighting Forces Brilliant Event!

This guide will cover all the tasks you need to do to complete the first week of Fighting Forces Brilliant Event. You’ll also find a few handy tips to get through the event!

While Fighting Forces isn’t explicitly about Halloween, I do appreciate the spookiness of the Dark Arts and the Malfoy Manor. Quite appropriate for October!

Brilliant Event Overview

Event Name Fighting Forces Brilliant Event (Week 1)

  • Earn 50 Gold.

Brilliant Event Tasks

These tasks all come straight from Fazes, so they’re completely accurate!

Update: Tasks have been updated, because the HPWU developers decided to play a little TRICK in advance of Halloween. But the TREAT is more Gold and an extra Spell Book, so I guess it evens out.

Like the previous Brilliant Events, the quest line is split into four sections. You have to complete each section before progressing to the next one.

The 3k Portkey Portmanteaus will go to Borgin and Burkes.

If you prefer watching a video, I’ve also covered all of this information on my YouTube channel!

Fighting Forces Quest 1/4

These tasks are a little different than what we’ve seen in previous Brilliant Events. Regardless, they’re still fairly easy to complete. Be sure to save a Tonic for Trace Detection Potion so you can complete this task quickly!

Use 1 Tonic for Trace Detection 10 Brilliant Family XP
Defeat 3 Oddities 2 Restricted Section Books
Defeat 3 Brilliant Death Eaters 300 Wizarding XP

1st Quest Rewards

  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 2 Restricted Section Books
  • 1 Spell Book
  • 1 Death Eater Portrait Lens

Fighting Forces Quest 2/4

Again, these tasks are a little different, but still pretty easy. I love the encouragement to do high-level Wizarding Challenges.

Brew 4 Potions 10 Brilliant Family XP
Defeat 3 Brilliant Azkaban Escapees 15 Brilliant Family XP
Use 5 Healing Potions 20 Brilliant Family XP

2nd Quest Rewards

  • 5 Re’em Blood Ingredients
  • 25 Dark Arts Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 1 Spell Book
  • 1 Spider Webs Portrait Frame
  • 1 Brilliant Death Eater Mask

Fighting Forces Quest 3/4

You can complete all of these tasks through a good session of Wizarding Challenges.

Complete 5 Wizarding Challenges 500 Wizarding XP
Get 3 Malfoy Family Crests from Brilliant Runestones 500 Wizarding XP
Use 5 Exstimulo Potions 15 Brilliant Family XP

3rd Quest Rewards

  • 25 Brilliant Family XP
  • 3 Restricted Section Books
  • 1 Spell Book
  • 1 Animated Full Moon Portrait Sticker
  • 1 Troll Dragging Club Portrait Sticker

Fighting Forces Quest 4/4

These tasks aren’t too difficult, as long as you can find Oddities and Dark Arts Traces. Look for Oddities in the evening, when Erklings and Vampires are more likely to appear. Find a Dark Arts flagged area (often around financial institutions) if you’re struggling with Dark Arts Traces.

Defeat 6 Oddities 20 Oddity Family XP
Open 1 3km Portkey 750 Wizarding XP
Return 4 Dark Arts Family Foundables 25 Brilliant Family XP

4th Quest Rewards

  • 50 Gold
  • 1 Animated Devils Snare Portrait Frame
  • 5 Restricted Section Books
  • 1 Spell Book
  • 1 Brilliant Azkaban Prisoner Number

Brilliant Foundables and Where to Find Them

Similar to the previous Brilliant Events, you will only be able to encounter some of these Brilliant Foundables in the wild. The others can be found through Fortress Challenges, special 3k Portkeys, and event tasks.

Brilliant Where to find it Fragments to collect
Brilliant Death Eater Wild Encounter 10
Brilliant Azkaban Escapee Wild Encounter 10
Brilliant Malfoy Family Crest Wizarding Challenges (need a Brilliant Runestone) 3
Brilliant Death Eater Mask Event Tasks 1
Brilliant Azkaban Prisoner Number Event Tasks 1
Brilliant Ollivander in Chains Brilliant Portkey Portmanteaus 5

Tips to Complete the Brilliant Event

If this is your first Brilliant Event, or if you’re thrown off by the different tasks, these tips will help you complete the Brilliant Event with time to spare.

  • If you don’t currently have a Tonic for Trace Detection Potion, go ahead and brew one. If you’re missing the Ingredients, either unlock a bunch of Portkey Portmanteaus this weekend to earn Erumpent Horns, or go ahead and buy a Potion. It’s more cost-efficient to buy a Potion than it is to buy the Ingredients.
  • To complete the second set of quests quickly, save your Potions from your Cauldron, and collect four all at once.
  • If you’ve having trouble finding Oddities, avoid flagged areas. Also play in the evening, when certain Oddities are more common.
  • Save your Scrolls and your Restricted Section Books until the end of the event. Then use our guide to spend them wisely! Aurors and Magizoologists are getting close to earning all of the Restricted Section Books. In fact, if you attended the Fan Festival, this Brilliant Event will give you the last of the Restricted Section Books you need to fill out your Skill Tree. Professors need a few more Brilliant Events to fill out their Skill Trees, but these 15 Restricted Section Books will help you with the more important Charms.
  • The Brilliant Death Eater and the Brilliant Azkaban Escapee are both Oddities, meaning they won’t depart!

Will they fix the many bugs they introduced in the most recent version?

We programmers are noticing the same kind of timing bugs happening over and over. For example, when a player ranks up in a family and goes to the Registry to collect the rewards, the Rank bar goes all the way to 100, and then the game hangs. There’s no way to abort, and no way to know if the rewards have been awarded. This kind of timing bug is now common in Traces, in Fortresses, and in using Portkeys. Is the game architecture broken somehow?

Quest 1 gives 2 green books, quest 2 gives 3 books, Quest 3 gives 3 books, and quest 4 gives 5 green books. That all equals 13 restricted books where do the other 2 books come from? This article keeps saying we will earn 15 books.

The copy and paste of these events is getting a bit old. I wish they’d change up the structure so it’s not 4 stages, 6 foundables, and each one comes from the same source every time. Not much to look forward to or get me back in the game.

I think they have done a good job about this one, actually. The encounters were something new, and the bonus task was a great idea as well.

In brilliant events of the past we’ve gotten 50 coins for completing part 1 and then another 50 for completing part 2. I see nothing here indicating if we’ll get 50 coins for part 1. Part 2 shows 50 coins as part of the reward. Does anyone know if we’ll get them for part 1 this time? Truth be told I really look forward to those coins because every time I save 475 I buy a vault extension set. Getting 100 coins for both parts saves me 10 days worth of time.

In the Fighting Forces Quest 3/4

“Get 3 Malfoy Family Crests from Brilliant Runestones” must be “Recover 3 Malfoy Family Crest Foundable Fragments”

how do I earn Brilliant Runestones? I am still confused over this.

You earn Brilliant Runestones by leveling up the Brilliant Event Registry page. To level up this page you must return foundables or defeat foes within the event (on the map they are purple with a purple or red beam coming out of the top). Once you receive a Runestone, you spend it at a Fortress to start a Wizarding Challenge.

Hi, I have levelled up to Rank 8 on the Brilliant Event Fighting Forces page but if I look on the Runestones page of the Vault I don’t see any Brilliant Runestones. Am I missing something? Are the Brilliant Runestones only shown when starting a Wizarding Challenge?

I acquired one of the Malfoy Family Crests from a Wizarding Challenge before Part 3/4 but it doesn’t register under the Special Assignments page. Now I have all 3 Crests and they are placed on the Registry page but it still says I only have two under the Special Assignments page. Since I have all 3 Crests, I’m not getting any more from Runes/Challenges so beware. Don’t use the Special Assignment Runes before Part 3/4 or you may be stuck. Also, another glitch noticed today, similar to how the Registry page gets stuck after leveling up, Inns and Greenhouses will… Read more »

Same happened to me. More crests will drop, you just have to keep using the Brilliant runestones in Fortresses.

For the wizarding challenge for part 3, what it the recommended level to challenge at to get the Malfoy family crests?
