Witches and wizards will feel like Harry Potter in his second year in the upcoming Adversaries Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. This event will feature both Slytherin’s Basilisk and Aragog, two deadly beasts from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
While this Adversaries Event won’t feature Dragon Eggs or Dragon rewards, it will still be an exciting event with a little something for everyone.
Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing Wizards Unite Hub with early information so we can create Wizards Unite guides.

April Adversaries Event 2 Overview
|Event Name April Adversaries Event 2|
|Date + Time
Adversaries Event Tasks and Rewards
Tasks and rewards continue to be fairly similar to the most recent Adversaries Events.
I take back my previous compliments that the HPWU team rebalanced tasks and rewards. If anything, these tasks are even harder, for equal or fewer rewards.
For example, players have to use 12 Exstimulo Potions instead of 7, for the same 20 Spell Energy. Using Master Notes initially gave 1 Edible Dark Mark. Later it gave 2 Strong Exstimulo Potions. Now it only gives a single Potion.
Tasks continue to be difficult to do from home if you don’t get any Map activity at your house. Players only get the 1 free Edible Dark Mark, and even that won’t guarantee event Adversaries.
|Use Master Notes 8 Times||1 Strong Exstimulo Potion|
|Complete Forest Chamber IV or Higher 4 Times||1 Silver Key|
|Earn 1750 Challenge XP Through Wizarding Challenges and/or Adversary Chains||6 Ginger Root|
|Use 12 Exstimulo Potions (any)||20 Spell Energy|
|Return 20 Artefact Fragments from Slytherin’s Basilisk and/or Aragog Chains||2 Potent Exstimulo Potions|
|Deal 30,000 Damage to Adversaries||1 DADA Book|
|Defeat Aragog 3 Times||1 DADA Book|
|Defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk 3 Times||1 DADA Book|
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 500 Wizarding XP
- 60 Gold
- 30 Spell Energy
Adversaries Event BONUS Tasks and Rewards
This Adversaries Event includes a Bonus Assignment! I’m frustrated by the difficulty of the regular tasks, but I do like the option of a Bonus Assignment for players who want to challenge themselves. Not everyone will be able to complete the Bonus Assignment. That’s okay.
The first task will actually be easier for casual players (or rural players with limited resources). It’s much easier to place an Image on a base or bronze frame than on a silver or gold frame.
After the Dragons in the last event, Spell Books are a bit of a letdown as a reward.
Note: These tasks are cumulative. You only need to defeat 10 featured Adversaries total.
|Place 3 Images on Aragog and/or Slytherin’s Basilisk’s Registry Page||1 Spell Book|
|Defeat 6 Aragog and/or Slytherin’s Basilisk||1 Spell Book|
|Defeat 10 Aragog and/or Slytherin’s Basilisk||1 Spell Book|
- 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts Books
- 1000 Wizarding XP
- 40 Gold
- 30 Spell Energy
How to Prepare for April’s Adversaries Event
My advice for this particular Adversaries Event is similar to the most recent Adversaries Event. While we don’t have special Portkeys, this event includes both Wizarding Challenge bonuses and the special Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Spotlight Event.
Prepare to Defeat Adversaries
Once again, the repetitive advice, in the simplest of terms.
First, finish a Profession Lesson Plan. Put resources into a single Profession before you work on a second.
Next, work through the nodes in the Advanced Adversarial Combat for your completed Profession. The Precision nodes (on the right) increase your chances of getting a Critical Hit (inflicting more Damage). The Dodge nodes (on the left) increase your chances of dodging (taking no Damage).
I recommend unlocking the initial 4 Precision nodes and then the initial 4 Dodge nodes. You will see results with Critical Hits quickly.
Finally, bolster your Potions through SOS Training. This chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions.

Start brewing Healing Potions, Exstimulo Potions, and Wit-Sharpening Potions.
Start collecting extra Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions and Wit-Sharpening Potions. You’ll want a good stockpile of these to take advantage of the reduced brewing time with Master Notes.
Fill up on Spell Energy!
Open up your maximum Gifts each day, prioritizing Gifts that give you the aforementioned resources.
If you have extra Gold available, purchase Vault Extensions. The ability to hold more Spell Energy, Ingredients, and Potions will help you prepare for resource-intense events like this one.
Maximize Wizarding Challenge Rewards
There’s not too much to prepare for Wizarding Challenges. Most players have plenty of Runestones at this point.
Baruffio’s Spotlight Event Prep
If you are at level 4 to level 14 in Wizards Unite, this is the chance to level up quickly! Here are the bonuses:
• Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time reduced to 6 hours
• Master Notes will reduce Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time by 50%
• Baruffio’s Brain Elixir effects increased to 3X
Start saving all the Ingredients for Baruffio’s Brain Elixir! These are all the Ingredients you need to brew one Baruffio’s Brain Elixir.
|2Leaping Toadstool||2Frog Brain||1Runespoor Eggs||1Powdered Dragon Claw|
Frog Brains and Runespoor Eggs are fairly easy to find. Leaping Toadstools are rarely available on the Map–you mostly need to grow those in Greenhouses. Powdered Dragon Claws are exclusively available as Portkey rewards.
Leaping Toadstool has a 24-hour growing time. Plant seeds in a Greenhouse, and use Spell Energy to maximize the yield. Come back the next day at the same time to collect your Leaping Toadstools.
Walk a lot to unlock Portkeys for a chance at Powdered Dragon Claw. Use your Gold Key on 1km Portkeys. Save your Silver Keys for 5km Portkeys. Depending on your current stock of Portkeys, and how much you walk, you might want to use Silver Keys on 2.5km Portkeys.
You will also want to brew some Exstimulo Potions in advance.
The Exstimulo Potion family needs a lot of Ingredients. This quick chart shows which ones you need:
|Shared between all Exstimulo Potions||Bitter Root
|Additional Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Granian Hair|
|Additional Strong Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Abraxan Hair|
|Additional Potent Exstimulo Potion ingredient||Unicorn Hair|
You can also collect some of these Ingredients to brew during the Adversaries Event. The brewing time will be reduced with Master Notes.
In addition to the Exstimulo Potions, brew at least a few Dawdle Draughts. These will help you with any Severe and Emergency Foundables during the weekend, which you will get by using Dark Detectors.
These are the Ingredients you need for Dawdle Draught.
|Valerian Root||Sopophorous Bean||Butterscotch||Hermit Crab Shell|
Tips to Enjoy the Adversaries Event
This advice assumes you get Traces at your home, or you’re able to visit an area with Wizards Unite activity on the Map. Please stay safe, no matter what you do.
First, always keep a close eye on your Potions so you can collect new ones immediately and use Master Notes on the next one. Keep brewing Potions constantly. This is helpful for everyone!
Prestige Pages Quickly
To place all of the Images on the Adversary pages, you need fewer of the final Adversary than you do of the Artefacts. This is true of all Feared Adversaries, including Slytherin’s Basilisk and Aragog.
If you are low on Spell Energy and/or Potions, you can work to prestige your Registry pages while still conserving resources. Once you have placed the Basilisk and Aragog, and you have returned them enough times to place again, back out from future Adversary chains after you defeat the Guards. You will still receive Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards.
However, this strategy does mean you earn less DADA Books. It’s up to you if you want to prioritize grinding DADA Books or prestiging pages. You also might need to be strategic if you want to complete the Bonus Assignment.
Grind DADA Books
If you really want to grind DADA Books, your best strategy involves going to an area with multiple POIs in the game. Plant Snowdrop or Wormwood at a Greenhouse. Walk from Inn to Inn if available, or sit by an Inn if you just have one. Replenish your Spell Energy between Adversary Encounters. Use an EDM for 3 additional Adversaries every 30 minutes.
Finish Bonus Assignment
If you want the 3 extra Spell Books and 5 extra DADA Books, work carefully and quickly on the regular tasks.
Brew regular Exstimulo Potions to use Master Notes more quickly.
Do your Wizarding Challenges in Forest IV.
After you defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk 3 times, you will have dealt 12,837 Damage.
After you defeat Aragog 3 times, you will have dealt 13,371 Damage.
This leaves 3,792 Damage left to deal to complete that task. You can do this fairly easily by defeating another 1-2 Adversaries of any type.
At the same time, you will collect the required Artefact Fragments since you earn 4 total for each Adversary chain. If you can place any of these Images, WAIT. You want to do this on the Bonus Assignment, especially if you’ve already prestiged your page at least once.
After you finish the initial set of tasks, quickly collect your rewards. Confirm the Bonus Assignment is live. Start hunting the Basilisk and Aragog! Use EDMs as necessary, but your best bet is to visit a park, a city center, or a university–anywhere with multiple POIs and Map activity.
Back out of any Adversaries that are not the featured Adversaries. If you want to prestige those pages, you can split the difference by just defeating the Guards to collect Artefact Fragments.
Grind Wizarding XP (Spotlight Event)
If you are level 4-14, you can level up this weekend! I put together this video before the previous Baruffio’s Brain Elixir Spotlight Event. Details are the same, just different dates!
Ideally, you will visit a place with Inns. Stack Dark Detectors on the Inns. Drink a Brain Elixir. Return all of the Foundables.
Anything with a red beam needs a Strong or Potent Exstimulo Potion, plus a Dawdle Draught. Anything with an orange beam needs a regular Exstimulo Potion, if possible.
While your Brain Elixir is still running, open up 20 Gifts. Open any Portkeys that are ready.
If you are unable to visit an area with Inns, use a Tonic for Trace Detection. While you might not get any red beams, you can still grind Wizarding XP by returning Foundables. You can also easily use a Tonic for Trace Detection while walking around, so you can open Portkeys at the same time.
Adversaries Event Bundles
Like all Wizards Unite events, this Adversaries Event will feature store bundles. The free store pack includes an Edible Dark Mark! One paid bundle is a repeat from past events. The other paid bundle is new.
Free store pack includes:
- 1 Edible Dark Mark
- 2 Healing Potions
- 1 Exstimulo Potion
- 30 Spell Energy
The Arresto Adversary Bundle (800 Gold) includes:
- 3 Edible Dark Marks
- 125 Spell Energy
Is this bundle a good deal?
You can buy 5 Edible Dark Marks for 1200 Gold, making the individual value 240 Gold. Thus the value of 3 Edible Dark Marks is 720 Gold. If you only want discounted Edible Dark Marks, this bundle is not a good value. If you want discounted Spell Energy, then the bundle is a decent deal.
The Adversary Vanquisher Trunk (2000 Gold) includes:
- 5 Edible Dark Marks
- 125 Spell Energy
- 6 Potent Exstimulo Potions
- 6 Strong Exstimulo Potions
- 8 Wit-Sharpening Potions
5 Edible Dark Marks cost 1200 Gold.
A single Potent Exstimulo Potion in Diagon Alley costs 75 Gold. However, if you have all of the common Ingredients, it’s a better deal to buy 1 Unicorn Hair for 30 Gold, use Master Notes in the Cauldron, and then collect the Potion immediately for 41 Gold. So let’s put the value of Potent Exstimulo Potions at 71 Gold.
Thus 8 Potent Potions are worth 568 Gold.
Normally I don’t recommend spending Gold on Strong Exstimulo Potions because their Ingredients are common. However, with constant Wizards Unite events, players are going through their Potions quickly.
Looking at just Ingredients, it’s 3 Gold each per Snowdrop, Bitterroot, and Re’em Blood, plus 12 Gold for Abraxan Hair, so 36 Gold per Strong Exstimulo Potion.
Thus 8 Strong Potions are worth 288 Gold.
I still don’t recommend spending Gold on Wit-Sharpening Potions because Ingredients will be boosted during the event, AND you can get these through Gifts.
Before Spell Energy, the value of this bundle is 2056 Gold, a savings of 56 Gold. If you are a rural player, this bundle could be very helpful for you.
