Guaranteed Fortress Drops for Wizards Unite Community Day

April 2021 Wizards Unite Community Day artwork depicting the Knight Bus, a Fortress, and Foundables

Players in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite can breathe slightly after the Adversaries Event ends… But you won’t get much of a break before the April Wizards Unite Community Day begins!

Take the Knight Bus to Hogwarts or gather at your favorite local Fortress. Community Day is all about Wizarding Challenges, with guaranteed Exploration Fragments in certain Chambers.

Note: Thank you Niantic and WB Games for providing Wizards Unite Hub with early information so we can create Wizards Unite guides.

Wizards Unite Community Day April 2021

This Community Day is relatively laid-back. You can skip it if you’re busy, or play Wizards Unite just enough to complete the event tasks.

Unlike most recent Community Days, there will not be any Foundables boosted on the Map.

Keep in mind, some tasks will be difficult for new players. In fact, if you’ve only unlocked about half of your Profession’s Lesson Plan, I recommend not worrying about the tasks.

I’ve covered everything in a video. You can also keep reading for the Community Day details, tips, and tricks!

How to Prepare for April Community Day

Wizards Unite players have not seen a Fortress-based Community Day since August 2020. Luckily the tasks do not build on each other like that Community Day, but lower-level players might still have difficulty completing all event tasks.

If you’re concerned about connection issues, try to play at a local Fortress instead of using the Knight Bus. Only do this if you can legally and safely play at a local Fortress.

If you are a high-level player, I encourage you to complete your tasks either at a local Fortress or in a coordinated Knight Bus to avoid being frustrated by new players.

If you are a low-level player, please read through all of this advice to improve your Fortress skills! You can absolutely be a great teammate in a Dark Chamber without having a maxed-out Profession. It’s just a matter of understanding your Profession and using your resources wisely.

That said, you won’t miss out on too much if you choose not to complete the tasks in the Dark Chambers. Also, if you complete Community Day, that will make Brilliant Events more difficult for you to complete, since they often require players to complete a Wizarding Challenge in your highest unlocked Chamber. You might benefit more overall by sticking with Forest III and Forest V to earn the guaranteed Fragments.

Fortresses 101

If you’re nervous about being a good teammate in the Dark Chambers, take the time to learn everything you can about doing Wizarding Challenges with a team.

First of all, go through the Fortresses tag here on Wizards Unite Hub. Our writers have covered Wizarding Challenges from a variety of angles, so you’re sure to find helpful content, no matter your experience.

Second of all, learn how to be a better teammate! This video breaks down advice that applies to all players, regardless of Profession. There are timestamps in the description so you can skip ahead to the advice that is most helpful to you.

This playlist has some great tutorials from different Wizards Unite players, all about Wizarding Challenges. You can find videos based on Profession, videos that break down the basics of Wizarding Challenges, and videos with analyses of Wizarding Challenges.

When it comes to using Potions in Wizarding Challenges, each Profession has a different approach… And high-level players doing coordinated Wizarding Challenges won’t use many Potions at all, if any.

If you have not yet completed your Profession’s Lesson Plan, or if you aren’t coordinating with other players, then you should stock up on Potions before Community Day. I realize this is a challenge right after the Adversaries Event.

These Potions can all be used in Wizarding Challenges:

  • Exstimulo Potions
  • Wit-Sharpening Potions
  • Healing Potions
  • Invigoration Draughts

Exstimulo Potions will help you hit harder. If you’re a lower-level player, this can help balance out your abilities in Wizarding Challenges.

Wit-Sharpening Potions work against Elite Foes. These are great for the Forest Chambers if you’re playing without all 3 Professions, and you need to take out an Elite Foe that is neutral for you. You can also use a Wit-Sharpening Potion in Dark Chambers against an Elite Foe that is proficient for you, but you should still wait until Proficiency and Bravery are both cast. The extra power can help lower-level players compensate.

Healing Potions are handy if you’re playing without a Magizoologist. (Although in a Dark Chamber, you should put together a balanced team). They are also helpful for lower-level players who haven’t built up their stamina yet.

Don’t worry about stocking up on these before Community Day. Master Notes will reduce the brewing time by 50% on Community Day, so stock up Ingredients instead.

These are the Ingredients you need to brew a Healing Potion.

Wormwood Bubotuber Pus Dittany Dragon Liver

Professors and Magizoologists want to have a few Strong Invigoration Draughts handy to cast their Strategic Spells quickly. This is also helpful for lower-level Aurors to have more Focus to pass.

Do your best to open Portkeys before Community Day starts so you have room to pick up 1km Portkeys. These will contain House Hourglass Fragments, so you want to collect as many as you can!

If you can safely and legally walk around a park or your neighborhood, that’s a great option to unlock Portkeys.

Tips for Enjoying April’s Community Day

This is a low-key Community Day, so don’t stress about it. You can grind if you want, or you can take the day off. There’s not a wrong way to play Wizards Unite, so allow your own game goals determine your strategy.

Keep in mind, the guaranteed Exploration Fragments from Wizarding Challenges are regardless of Runestone, AND they are in addition to the usual chance of getting a Fragment from your Runestone.

This means if you win Dark Chamber V, you will earn the Fragment from your Runestone, PLUS Tom Riddle Sr.’s Gravestone.

How to Coordinate on the Knight Bus

By now most high-level players know how to coordinate Knight Bus rides with friends. If not, it’s really simple, if time-consuming. You need to be in-game friends for this to work.

  1. Board the Knight Bus and enter a low Chamber (Ruins II-V) with an old Brilliant Runestone (this way you do not waste important Runestones if you accidentally join the Wizarding Challenge).
  2. Have your friends look for the yellow Friend medallion or “beacon” in the Fortress.
  3. If they do not see your beacon, they leave the Knight Bus!
  4. Your friend continues this process until they see your beacon.
  5. Once they find you, choose a Chamber to enter together!
  6. As long as you and your friend stay on the bus, you can continue to play Chambers together!

You can also check out these Discord servers for Knight Bus coordination.

A Note on the Knight Bus

If you’re taking the Knight Bus to do Wizarding Challenges, then keep in mind that the player who starts the Chamber determines whether or not the players can earn Community Day bonuses. This was true during previous Community Day events, but I know it’s a bit confusing.

Wizards Unite Community Day is based on local times. However, when taking the Knight Bus, you can randomly play with witches and wizards around the world. This means that if Community Day is NOT active in your timezone, but you enter a Chamber started by a player where Community Day is active, then you might enjoy the Community Day bonuses.

Once Community Day is active in your area, if you’re doing Wizarding Challenges, then you should coordinate with friends to get the Community Day bonuses. Or you’ll want to start the Chamber yourself to guarantee access.

Final Thoughts on Community Day

Note: Store pack details coming soon. I wanted to get this guide up ASAP.

If you’re in an area where you can walk safely, set aside a few hours to go outside and walk while playing Wizards Unite. This is a great way to walk off Portkeys and collect new Ingredients. Plant Wormwood in a Greenhouse if you need it.

Carry an extra battery pack or two, plus charging cables. Need a new battery pack? I’ve put together a list of the top-rated options on Amazon!

I hope this Wizards Unite Community Day guide has been helpful! Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see in future guides.

I love this event! I’m much happier being in control of completing the tasks, as opposed to waiting for things to appear on the map.

Brita wrote “the player who starts the Chamber determines whether or not the players can earn Community Day bonuses.” Does start the Chamber mean the first one to enter the lobby (and start the 2 minute timer) or does it mean the first player to press Start from the lobby?

Thanks for the teammate video. I’ve always played as a solo professor until the Knight Bus so never understood teammate actions nor did I know you can disengage (never a solo option!). Most strategy discussions are also meaningless to me since I’ve never communicated with anyone. Some things I’ve figured out through playing, trial and error, and many Knight Bus players seem as clueless as me regardless of profession.

I really enjoyed this event. I concentrated on portkeys and fragments from 2 chambers. It was easy to find other players for challenges and I got guaranteed fragment drops from the event plus the runestone used! I was able to prestige 3 different frames! I rarely do challenges outside of events because it is difficult to find other players and the odds of receiving fragments are so low. I wish the game was like this all of the time. It would be a lot more fun for me. I was getting kind of burned out on all of the events,… Read more »

I agree; I had SO much fun! One of my favorite things about this game is team challenges in higher chambers, but it’s so hard to find people there when there’s no event going on.
