Adversaries Event Tasks and Rewards

The SOS Task Force has been assigned several tasks to help witches and wizards easily contain the surge!

Unlike other Adversary events, this event has 2 task pages, one bonus task page, and a chance to earn the coveted Restricted Section Books!

Quest 1 Step Reward
Use 1 Edible Dark Mark 20 Spell Energy
Complete 4 Forest Chambers 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion
Deal 20,000 damage to Adversaries 6 Snowdrop
Return 15 Artefact Fragments from Feared Beast Chains 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion

Collection Rewards:

  • 3 DADA Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 60 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

The tasks are straight forward. You can use the free EDM from the complimentary gift to clear off the 1st task. And the Knight Bus should help you out for the Forest Chambers task!

The 4th task requires you to collect Artefacts from Feared Beasts. These are:

  • Slytherin’s Basilisk
  • Aragog
  • Ancient Norweigan Ridgeback
  • Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly
  • Ancient Hungarian Horntail

You earn 1 Artefact Fragment from each Guard, plus 2 Fragments from the final Adversary. By defeating 4 total Adversary Chains, you earn 16 Fragments.

While doing this, you will deal 17,116 to 20,972 Damage (4 of Slytherin’s Basilisk to 4 of the Ancient Hungarian Horntail). Thus you might need to defeat 1-2 more Adversaries to deal 20,000 Damage.

Quest 2 Step Reward
Use 1 Edible Dark Mark 2 Healing Potions
Complete 2 Dark Chambers 1 Silver Key
Earn 1350 Challenge XP Through Wizarding Challenges and/or Adversary Chains 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion
Defeat 5 Feared Wizard Adversaries 1 Spell Book

Collection Rewards:

  • 3 DADA Books
  • 500 Wizarding XP
  • 60 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy

Hopefully the RNG should bless players with an EDM drop from other Adversaries Chains so we can complete the 1st task. The 2nd and the 3rd tasks can be completed from the Knight Bus in the Dark Chambers!

The 4th task requires you to defeat 5 of the following Adversaries:

  • Draco Malfoy
  • Fenrir Greyback
  • Gilderoy Lockhart
  • Peter Pettigrew
  • Narcissa Malfoy

Draco Malfoy and Fenrir Greyback are the easiest of these to defeat. If you’re low on resources, or if you’re relatively new to Adversaries, focus on finding these Adversaries.

Bonus Tasks Reward
Defeat Draco Malfoy 1 Time 10 Spell Energy
Defeat Fenrir Greyback 1 Time 1 Unicorn Hair
Defeat Gilderoy Lockhart 1 Time 6 Ginger Root
Defeat Peter Pettigrew 1 Time 2 Healing Potions
Defeat Narcissa Malfoy 1 Time 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion
Defeat Aragog 1 Time 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion
Defeat Slytherin’s Basilisk 1 Time 1 Silver Key
Defeat the Ancient Hungarian Horntail 1 Time 1 Spell Book
Defeat the Ancient Norweigan Ridgeback 1 Time 1 Spell Back
Defeat the Ancient Ukrainian Ironbelly 1 Time 1 Spell Book

Completion Rewards:

  • 1000 Wizarding XP
  • 5 Restricted Books
  • 40 Gold
  • 30 Spell Energy
  • 1 Fearless Fighter Title

The Bonus assignment requires us to battle every Feared Adversary available in the game. The main advantage of finishing this bonus task will be to get the Restricted Section Books, which are usually given only during the Brilliant Events!

Update: As we already noted on Facebook and on Twitter, the event rewards are bugged. You will not earn Restricted Section Books or the Fearless Fighter Title. These will be added to an event in August. Please follow us on social media for the most immediate news updates.

That said, not everyone will be able to complete the Bonus Assignment. That’s okay! Games should be fun, not stressful.

How to Prepare for July’s Adversaries Event

The preparation for this event remains mostly unchanged compared to the previous Adversaries Event! One thing to note: with all Adversaries boosted, that means your Adversary spawns will be completely random. Any Adversary is possible from an EDM or on the Map.

Prepare to Defeat Adversaries

The advice is same as we have seen from the past events.

  1. Finish a Profession Lesson Plan.
  2. Work on Advanced Adversarial Combat.
  3. Improve your Potions through SOS Training.
  4. Start brewing Healing Potions, Exstimulo Potions, and Wit-Sharpening Potions.
  5. Start collecting extra Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions and Wit-Sharpening Potions.
  6. Fill up on Spell Energy!
  7. Open up your maximum Gifts each day, prioritizing Gifts that give you the aforementioned resources.
  8. Purchase Vault Extensions.

This SOS Training chart indicates the different nodes and their locations to improve your Potions.

Baruffio’s Spotlight Event Prep

If you are at level 4 to level 14 in Wizards Unite, this is the chance to level up quickly! Here are the bonuses:

  • Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time reduced to 6 hours
  • Master Notes will reduce Baruffio’s Brain Elixir brew time by 50%
  • Baruffio’s Brain Elixir effects increased to 3X

First, follow the advice above for collecting Ingredients for Exstimulo Potions. You can take advantage of the reduced brewing time. Exstimulo Potions will help you return higher threat Traces and therefore earn more Wizarding XP.

This video provides additional advice!

Tips to Enjoy the Adversaries Event

This advice assumes you get Traces at your home, or you’re able to visit an area with Wizards Unite activity on the Map. We’re still in a pandemic, so prioritize your health and follow all local laws!

If you are new to Adversaries, don’t worry about the tasks. Focus on just Guards, plus Draco Malfoy and Fenrir Greyback. These will be easier for you to defeat than the rest of the full Adversary Chains.

Easy tip for all players: keep a close eye on your Potions! Collect new Potions immediately and use Master Notes on the next one. Keep brewing Potions constantly.

Prestige Pages Quickly

With all Feared Adversaries boosted, it will be more difficult to focus on a single page to prestige. However, you can still follow this general advice.

To place all of the Images on the Adversary pages, you need fewer of the final Adversary than you do of the Artefacts. This is true of all Feared Adversaries.

If you are low on Spell Energy and/or Potions, you can work to prestige your Registry pages while still conserving resources. Once you have placed an Adversary, and you have returned them enough times to place again, back out from future Adversary chains after you defeat the Guards. You will still receive Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards.

However, this strategy does mean you earn fewer DADA Books. It’s up to you if you want to prioritize grinding DADA Books or prestiging pages.

Grind DADA Books

If you really want to grind DADA Books, your best strategy involves going to an area with multiple Points of Interest in the game. Plant Snowdrop or Wormwood at a Greenhouse, depending on if you need more Exstimulo Potions or Healing Potions. Walk from Inn to Inn if available, or sit by an Inn if you just have one. Replenish your Spell Energy between Adversary Encounters. Use an EDM for 3 additional Adversaries every 30 minutes.

You earn 1 guaranteed DADA Book for each Adversary you defeat. Occasionally you can earn 1 DADA Book from defeating a Guard. You earn additional DADA Books by placing Adversary Images in the Challenges Registry.

What are tasks 3 and 4?

There are 2 regular quests plus the bonus assignment. All event tasks are in this article.

I misread it somehow. I’m in the bonus, and I thought the bonus was doable, however Aragog will not pop up anymore. Makes more sense to award DADA books and I’m glad for that change. I know others are disappointed and I’m sorry but I need more DADA books and SOS manuals.

Made it through the bonus today. Overall I liked it. Frustrated I spent over 13 EDMs to do so, most were during the bonus. I’ll keep my old method of not doing bonus on these events. I’ll need to restock EDM and potions before I can go crazy again. I did get the third lethal lesson done. Tons of XP of course. I think it is time to take it easy with the events for a bit.

I think you’re thinking about Brilliant Events. The Brilliant Events have 4 Quests total, plus a Bonus Quest one you have completed the initial 4 Quests. Usually, Adversary Events only have one quest, with 7 or 8 tasks total to complete before you can collect the bonus rewards. This is the very first Adversary Event that has broken up the task list, giving us more than one quest we need to complete in order to get all of the available rewards. They’ve had Bonus Assignments before, but only one main task list, so this is new for everyone. 🙂

It is unfortunate that they only give 1 dark mark! It appears we will need at
Least 3 or travel to places where adversaries might be appearing! I used most of my gold on silver keys so I could open eggs! Will do what I can! Thanks for the info

I feel like I should get at least 3 Potent Exstimulos for defeating Narcissa. 🙂 That witch is a pain in my behind!

I also spent all my gold on silver keys (dragon eggs!) so I join you in hoping some adversary chains will reward with EDMs

I agree with Camille Schiraldi. They really should give us more than just the one Edible Dark Mark. I live in the middle of nowhere and even just one, normal trace popping up is an extremely rare occasion (without the use of a Tonic for Trace Detection potion). And Adversary traces? Forget it. Those aren’t coming anywhere near where I live, and even using an Edible Dark Mark barely helps; in the 30 minutes that they remain in effect, I’m lucky if 3 Adversary traces pop up. (On the VERY RARE occasion, 4 will pop up, but that’s rarer than… Read more »

One of the things they did on Pokemon Go which I liked was increasing spawns around areas that had people using incense to attract encounters. My house now has a steady spawn rate around it which is nice on community days. I’d like to see them do the same thing in WU so I don’t have to drive into town all the time just to participate in events, although it is nice having the Knight Bus to give me something to do at home at night.

I got to the bonus page. Among the prizes are DADA books, NOT restricted section books.
I am disappointed.

Is anyone else seeing no energy reward for Ruins 3? I see rewards for every other chamber.

So I just looked at the rewards for the bonus stage, I am short one encounter of finishing, Aragog seems to not be spawning near me, and I don’t see the restricted section books, the icon shows 5 more DADA books… Anyone finish yet and can confirm the 5 Restricted Books?

Looks like there’s a different set of bonus task rewards. No restricted books, just DADA, and no title.

Does anyone else notice that when you come to the final opponent in the chain and you have a potion charges left over from the last guard that your first strike does not reflect the active potion. I hit the adversary for the same amount as if I had no potion going. Now if I start up a potion once I am facing the adversary and before I land my first attack, then I see damage in keeping with the potion I started.

I just lost an easy Dragon fight due to it chain hitting me 5 times in a row. These fights are still buggy as hell and should be fixed before the Lethal ones release.

Is there another way to earn EDMs other than purchasing them? I remember in a previous battle they were rewarded when defeating an adversary at random.

If it helps… I live in a rural area so no real big spawns I can camp but I started the event with 43 EDMs and between the free gift and drops I ended the event with 47 EDMs so the drop rate is decent in adversary encounters when compared to things like keys, potions or dark detectors from regular traces. I have seen the very rare EDM drop from the 2nd guard so I think you have a higher chance depending on the number of encounters you fight fully through. Also I am a pack rat so I don’t… Read more »

I’m really glad they made this event so long. 2 pages of regular tasks before hitting the bonus tasks took more to complete than I expected. I only just completed the bonus page yesterday (for me, Ancient Hungarian Horntail was the most elusive during the bonus, and Fenrir was the second to last I completed). I also play PoGo, and with the big event this last weekend (playing with some family), I wasn’t on HPWU much. The extended time gave me enough of a chance to finish it up. I only used maybe 2 EDMs, but have a decent enough… Read more »
